I fell in love with this movie when I was young and love was the most important thing on my mind. I watched it about 20 times and then someone erased the tape. I was devastated and now, even with tv quality I am grateful to you for uploading it.
I just watched it again, have see before. Thank you for posting, you have made my day better, after all these years. Of course I got choked up a few times, but again, thanks.
One of the finest attempts at showing what it's like to be human in this world. Nobody is trying to screw anybody else over for filthy lucre. And love is true to life. I fell in love in my first year of college (1964) with someone who strongly resembles the female lead in this movie, so every time I watch it, I can see her all over again. I have never seen her again in the more than 50 years that have passed since I saw her last. And that's why this movie is so poignant to me.
a million thanks for uploading this movie! i don't care what the critics say about it... a haunting heartfelt song, a beautiful bespectacled girl (supermodel shelley hack, no less), and a heartbreaking story that many of us have experienced--all that make it a memorable movie for me... many, many thanks again, for the movie and the memories!!!
I found the problem at my end and now I can play back parts 3 and 4! Yippee!!! I really love this movie. Thank you again for uploading the movie and the advice!!!!
wow, thanks for posting this! i have it on vhs and dvd (only made publicly into vhs by columbia)....reminds me of my first love! i was 15 and he 17...going to see him next month! so excited! want to visit calezonia (sp?) college where this part was filmed in upstate new york...how beautiful!
I don't know why you describe this film as "arguably one of the top worst movies ever made"!!! It simply isn't!!! And, besides, I'm so glad that I have the chance to finally see it!!! Thank you!!!
I was sorry to read about Joe Brooks' tragic life on Wiki. I found it interesting that he is the brother of Gilbert Kaplan, the wealthy investor who hired an orchestra to conduct and record Mahler's Symphony #2.
Thank you for uploading this movie. I have not seen this movie for ages. I am however having problems playing back Part 3 and 4 as they are not 'flash video' files, but 'mpeg-4 File' or 'WebM' files.
That is really odd because I uploaded all six parts in wmv format. Can you try it in a different browser? Is it only parts 3 annd 4 or is it also parts 5 and 6 also.
I remember the first time I saw this movie, I was young and I was touched by the love story and the soundtrack. Not great performances, but a real sweet story that can become real...
I worked in the theater on Hollywood Boulevard that first-ran this movie in summer 1978. It was the only movie we showed while I worked there for which we had standing instructions from management to refund people's money any time they asked for it. Many did, some quite belligerently. It was one of the largest theaters on the boulevard (it is now the El Capitan), and many nights we had no more than a dozen people in the audience. It was an utter disaster.
Thanks for uploading this. I was looking for the full movie of You Light Up My Life which is not much better than this, but couldn't find it so guess this will have to do.
It is only parts 3 and 4. I can play back parts 1,2,5 and 6 okay. I am using RealPlayer and gives me a message that a general error occurred. Google Chrome I do not get audio. Mozilla Firefox keeps sending me through RealPlayer.
I just played parts 3 and 4 through Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer. There has to be something wrong on your end. The sound is perfect through Chrome. I played it through Chrome with the Chrome Firefox Addon for Firefox and had no sound trouble. Every computer has Internet Explorer on it. Try that. If you have version 7 ignore that youtube says it can't play. It can.
And while I love the scenes about dealing with nightmare clients (which Joe Brooks clearly knows a lot about) the rest of this is just pretty self-indulgent. I mean local boy gets one of Charlie's Angels? Please...
I love this movie and have been searching for years for a DVD of it and finally found someone selling them. They prob made a copy from a VCR but the quality is very good. I bought one and it was worth the $9.99. I got it on sell.com.. Another guy is selling one at a higher price. Den
This is one of the worst movies ever made. It is fascinating to see a guy that was famous for writing one crappy song get his own movie....as star, writer, producer, and director. At least Eddie Murphy was the biggest star in Hollywood when he made the horrible "Harlem Nights".....Joe Brooks wrote commercial jingles. Oy!
+manhunter86 He actually wrote two top ten hits and songs that charted further down. Also, "You Light Up My Life" is still in the Billboard all-time top 10 ranking as of 2013. However, he was a creepy rapist whose son was a creepy murderer. so it all balances out.

sorry but this is my favorite movie of all time...with beautiful music and romantic storyline i love.

When it comes to critics, Charles Bronson said it best when he said, "We don't make movies for critics because they don't pay to see them anyway."
I found the problem at my end and now I can play back parts 3 and 4! Yippee!!! I really love this movie. Thank you again for uploading the movie and the advice!!!!
I don't care about the quality or the flutter. I love this movie and thank you for bringing it back.
One of my all-time favorite bad movies. I recently found a bootleg DVD copy and can now enjoy cringing my way through it whenever I want to.

Thank you for uploading this wonderful movie. Its an overlooked gem. Cheers
I wish we still had access to this incredible artists songs & movies. His life turned out so tragic.
Sure. It was HIS life that was tragic. The many women he raped are doing just fine.

Solangel Zapata same as me. I saw when l was young and l just love this movie and soundtrack. I love Christmas time.
Me, too! Best ever & soundtrack! ❤️💚❤️
I saw this movie when I was about 12 or 13, and have been wanting to see it again, despite the criticisms of its quality.
thanks so much I miss my young year when I see this movie beautiful music

I agree with you. I found I actually enjoyed this movie. The story was really a very loving story with a great sound track to boot.
It is only parts 3 and 4. I can play back parts 1,2,5 and 6 okay. I am using RealPlayer and gives me a message that a general error occurred. Google Chrome I do not get audio. Mozilla Firefox keeps sending me through RealPlayer.
But there were two saving graces:
- "California" was a nice song
- Shelley Hack was yummy to look at. ;)

Who ever uploaded this movie, I say "Thanks!"
You're welcome.
This was Joe Brooks riding fame like a pommel horse off the success of "You Light Up My Life".
Apart from the bad Randy Newman imitation song, this actually reminds me a lot of the "thirtysomething" TV series.
it's awful about the scandal and tragedy that ended with the life of joseph brooks
It's awful that he abused his daughter and raped eleven women, may he rot in hell!
Saw this when I was ten I also found the soundtrack album in a second hand store
i love this movie its simplicity and all no hype no over cherrying.
And while I love the scenes about dealing with nightmare clients (which Joe Brooks clearly knows a lot about) the rest of this is just pretty self-indulgent. I mean local boy gets one of Charlie's Angels? Please...
The airplanes are never coming back lol
I love this movie
Oh meu, he wrote this movie in wich he os a wonderfull man
OMG!!!
That's legendary George Plimpton as Lawrence, his boss!!!
The Great George Plimpton. What a treat.

Great movie (MUSIC)
TSometimes pure shit, is perfect. It is very difficult to reach the heights of the horrible acting and writing in this film.
I find the film entertaining, but if you look at every review, they do indeed call it one of the worst ever made.
okay. thank you
This movie should be good, but the acting is just terrible. Also, bad cinematography and nobody in the movie has any charisma.
