Y'all are, by far, one of my favorite TH-cam sailing channels. You're just so honest and real, and you don't use Marisa in a bikini as clickbait. I have voted for you to win the dinghy, and I just ordered one of your t-shirts. My wife and I are also sailors, but we are lake sailors in North Mississippi, living on a 25' O'day named Unole (oo-no-lay), which is Cherokee for "wind." Keep up the great work, guys. You are an inspiration to folks like us who want to do exactly what you are doing someday soon.
Thanks so much for leaving your comment! We're so happy you're enjoying it. And you got the shirt in light blue! I really like that color. If you decide to go for it and do what we're doing feel free to ask any questions, we'd love to help get others out here if we can.
@@Bretandmarisa thank you so much! The plan is to buy a bigger boat so that we can start to outfit it, retire in 10 or so years, and take our (hopefully paid for by then) boat to Florida to start cruising. Y'all keep buying awesome, and stay slow.
cruising the “dismal” swamp, drinking pineapple juice and eating pineapple along the way! You two are the best, so glad you are having this experience, and thank you for sharing it as well!
Just ran across your channel, due to the Dismal Swamp title. I'm from VA and you were in Chesapeake (that branches off into Southeastern Suffolk) after passing the state line. That road used to be the main road of travel that ran parallel to the ICW. I have never traveled that in a boat (but have known boater friends who have) myself so it was nice of you to take me on your journey. You video well and captured it as peacefully as it is. I hope to see you continue down the ICW, which I believe you'll end up in the Elizabeth River from there. Safe sailing and will be on the watch for your next video.
Thank you so much! We're happy you enjoyed it. We weren't sure if it was going to be too long for people, curious to know what you think. If you like the longer or shorter versions. Also so happy you like the new shirt!
Incredible footage. I tend to take for granted the beauty all around me growing up and living in my home state of NC. So much to see from the coast to the mountains. I live just a couple of hours away from where you docked. I like your laid back style/attitudes and look forward to see how you handle future trips. Keep up the good work and I wish you guys the best of luck with the channel.
You're not alone, we even get caught in the trap of complacency too. Sometimes I'll forget I used to be sitting on land looking at the boats thinking "one day". Now that we're doing that I often forget how lucky and fortunate we are. We're so happy you're here and can enjoy the videos. Hope to see you around!
RE: "Just go slow" That is the secret to any sailboat maneuvering in close quarters. When within two boat lengths of any object, look over the side and if the water is going by faster than you can walk, slow down. Sailboats have generous rudders and can maneuver quite well dead slow. It is very easy to single handedly pick up a mooring on a 50 foot boat if you are going about 1/2 a knot. No need for hysterics. Exactly like you did to the dock.
Curious, Patrick & Michela feature you two in their videos, how come you dont do the same? I like seeing you kids make friends with each other. :) She said you left their boat cleaner they left it, that's so cool of you. That is so super nice of you guys to watch their boat btw.
I think we just haven't filmed them when we're hanging out! We love them! We're gonna see them tomorrow, maybe we'll have to film something with them. We're happy you're enjoying seeing us together because we're enjoying it too!

Nice 👍 😅

Cool!
Glad you liked!
How many boats did you pass going opposite directions in the swamp?
We passed zero boats going the opposite way. And the only boats going the way we were going were people we knew

Welcome to Norfolk Virginia
Thanks!
Wouldn’t mind getting a shirt, but I have a VERY string preference for moisture wicking shirts.
Hmm I'll have to look into something like that. If there a design you prefer?
Like Huckleberry Finn on a boat instead of a raft.
Thanks for watching
