@@didhedieddud334 it’s not the fancy editing I find insight in. It’s how the different stages of the interview (even ordering food) gets Eric into different moods and reveals different facets of his character. As someone who left Mormonism and moved to New York, then Paris, then spent a ton of time in Lisbon and Austin…Eric’s admonition to stop city chasing resonated with me. While all those places were amazing, I was left with a hollow feeling. I’ve moved home to my native Canada and have started to realize just as he states, it’s happening between people. That’s where it’s happening.
Thanks for the discussion. Hope there are some follow ups in the future!

  • @spracketskooch

To me, Eric playing music is a prime example of the problem he was talking about in relation to machine learning. He understands how, but not why. Press this key to get this note, play this series of notes to get this effect. The technical proficiency is there, but there's absolutely no soul. It can't be boiled down to just an algorithm, in the same way that consciousness can't be boiled down to just brain activity.
A lot of music suffers from the same problem. At this moment I've decided to call it The Four Chords that Made a Million Syndrome. Put these four chords together in a certain sequence, and bam, you've got a cheap hack into the human emotional system. It's fun to bob your head to, but it doesn't reach the depths of the soul. It's like the difference between cocaine and mushrooms.
I hate to criticize such a brilliant man, but I had such a visceral negative reaction to his piano playing that there was no hope of keeping my mouth shut. Forgive me.

A millennial with post-graduate degrees working a full time job plus a part time job at 30 has to worry about whether they can support a family with multiple children is another thing wrong with modern western society.
If birth rates are too low, this is one of the reasons.

Yes I concur. He didnt veer too deeply into the weeds of his GU cryptoglot as he invariably does when some tragically plaintive supplicant tries to drag him into the cattle-chute of the lay accessible science communicator. Eric gets understandably peevish when his audience refuses to get off the f*cking couch and at least meet him in the lobby of the Physics auditorium. If you cant be bothered to skim a glossary or watch a SpaceTime summary of the Dirac equation before you squirm up expecting cosmic profundity to be dropped into your lap by a luminary of his once in three generations testicular mass, then prepare to get smashed under a four dimensional proto spacetime manifold festooned with emergent naked spinnors b*tch! Jesse is not your average Lex. He is demonstrably capable of keeping pace with Eric and instead of lapsing into stunned bafflement at a GU diatribe, he keeps the volley going with incisive original observations and fresh nonobvious inquiries in real time. Ya just gotta love those Ashkenazim... if theres a dumb one out there I sure haven't met him!

This is the first time in my life that I wanted to go to the Patreon and sign up for something just to support it. 💖
Alex Jones brought me here, watched a few UFO episodes, and I'm 16:46 into this when (the figure eight of money balance) and I immediately wanted to support what you're doing.
I was one of the first "TH-camrs" on the platform. That struggle between clicks and true to self is real. MUCH more chill now. So many paths to monetization. The partner program didn't even exist for my viral video. 😝
Anyhow, you're doing awesome work. Also...
I'm a modern day Taoist wizard with an intimate understanding of the "living intelligent sentient" universe. The video with the 26 year old had me pumped! It's like the science realm and the spirit realm are going to collide in a meaningful way real soon. It's like I'm watching it happen!
I'll expand on that... there was a moment in the episode with Eric and the UFO guy (forgot the new acronym) where you guys were trying to explain how that dude was able to see through the machine or how when people went to the bottom of the ocean they could "hear" better.
The information is kind of all colliding into the moment. We're all "cogs" in this intelligent machine. What confuses everyone is the "free will" problem. It's assumed that everyone has it. Everyone doesn't have it. If someone actually get some level of "free will" they didn't do it. It was kind of gifted to them (the same way Elon Musk was gifted with Tesla through lines of culture, genetics, family, etc.). He's a conduit, not a person making decisions. That's a hard pill no one wants to swollow.
In order to truly get free we have to accept the fact that it's practically impossible to do it! Running around thinking you already have it (and everyone else does too) means you're definitely a cog in this intelligent machine. Just like a cell in the body...
Think about it. Modern scientists needed these CRAZY signs to get triggered into seeing that there's more going on. There are definitely shamans who have stories that make sense with the (modern) physics shattering things going on with those UFOs.
When you get tapped in, you see that high level communication between "us" and higher orders of "us" is happening all the time (it's just one big "us"... and not... lol ).
Just gotta make connections to the indigenous cultures. They have "secrets"...
Anyhow... Back to the video! Awesome stuff!
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk... lol

I’ve spent my entire life around highly driven people. They all seem to have one glaring fault. They lack concern and empathy for others and their over driven traits make them narcissists. Unfortunately as Erik talks I see glimpses of the other assholes I’ve known the arrogance pride self adulation come poking out. Lack of self awareness. There is huge difference between true genuine leaders and people who want to lead. Erik is brilliant he’s not a leader. The country desperately needs leadership!

He's correct they had to kill the cow for you to eat a burger; though he didn't mention the hideous, daily and unthinkable cruelty and misery these sentient mammals live in, the many traumas they endure, and the utterly unsustainable, gluttonous, obscenely wasteful industry contributing significantly to climate catastrophe. A huge percentage of people who eat beef and pork, if they had to watch a video of this extreme trauma and suffering, the appalling and obscene waste attendant to the industry (a full 1/3rd of all meat products are thrown away), the blood and tears washing down the drain, if they could tune into this suffering and understand it emotionally, would not be able to support this industry and eat this product of abomination and waste and cruelty.

We will never be allowed to leave this world. We are on a prison planet. We are too violent to be let lose on the rest of the cosmos. We live in a beautiful hell, a hell of our own making. The best you can say about our species is that we are clever, but not clever enough to break the bonds of our ego. Most will disagree but only because they haven't reached that level of awareness to see it. Our truth changes from awareness to awareness. Unfortunately this awareness isn't dependent on education or intelligence. I wish it were otherwise.

I think a major problem with The Silent Generation and the baby boom generation is they all have or had a romantic view of war (or they use to). The amount of wars they have started or been involved with is staggering. Their view in America was that of leaving your country and coming back victorious with the entire country cheering. Vietnam, Korea and the Middle East etc etc has shattered that now view thankfully due to all them wars being a failure and achieving nothing. Europeans are different as they have had two major world wars on their doorstep and everyone lost family members that scaring lives across multiple generations you can even still see the effects in the landscapes around Europe. A modern war on your home turf changes things. The silent and boom generation where to quick to go to war it created a trillionaire military industrial complex who now basically own the country and make the policy decisions via lobbying and payoffs.

Its only saving grace was that at the end of every session it asked you: Do you really want to leave The Universe. You could click a big red button saying No or a small yellow one saying Yes. I always found clicking the yellow button immensely satisfying.

@Ken Clarke I think he means that the current "elite" in a political sense don't actually know what they are doing they are reactionists and opportunists they are not leaders because leadership requires excellence they are not wise behind closed doors either because they will be eventually replaced by more aggressive authoritarian actors. So they are not elite, they are temporary stewards until true good or evil leaders will come.

You guys are stoking an intellectual fire in me while being wildly entertaining or discussing wildly entertaining subjects and I can’t thank you two enough. To butcher a portion/lesson from Thoth’s, The Book of the Dead: {you may not believe these words or even understand their meaning, but the mere act of reading/hearing the words of this book will raise your vibrations i.e. your consciousness.}. This is why some Truth’s resonate with you on what seems like a cellular level. That is what I feel when listening to your conversations. Thank you both!

So then. נהדר לשמוע את החבר המפורסם שלנו . Eric for sure has a rare and powerful mind. The downside is, superior minds are tempted to think that challenging problems, like in fundamental physics, require complex solutions. Not so. Any architect will tell you that rising complexity always points to one or more serious human design errors in earlier design phases. Not sometimes, ALWAYS. So, to get answers, we must go back to the start of modern physics and re-run Special Relativity SR, General Relativity GR and QP. There are no flaws in any of the formulas. But there are flaws in our physical interpretation! Let’s recap: We start with SR where we are taught at a young age not to say what we see. We see that speed contracts frontal space (‘length contraction’) and frontal time (slower clocks or time ‘dilation’). But notice the misleading language of ‘length’ contraction (as if an object gets detached from spacetime and ‘shrinks’ by itself) and time ‘dilation’ (why not just say time ‘contraction’?). Combined, what we actually see is frontal spacetime contraction due to speed. By logical extension this then also applies to all speeding subatomic particles in restmass; The countless electrons and vibrating nucleons must also each contract linear spacetime. But since all their vectors are utterly unaligned, the cumulative effect in restmass is a radial ST contraction around restmass. We call this GRAVITY. Naturally, if the macro-object itself has additional relativistic speed as well, we get an additional speed induced frontal LINEAR spacetime contraction. Again, the community denies this and falsely attributes this to mysterious ‘dark matter’. What’s next? Well, if a speeding object loses frontal space and frontal time, what does it get back? It gets back the object property of increased energy and increased inertia. Notice the symmetry here, when we include energy and inertia into SR? So what we need is to augment the spacetime diagram, by drawing an energy axis opposite to the space axis and a mass axis opposite to the time axis. Finally, we then draw a duplicate vector in the energy mass quadrant opposite to the ST vector. THAT is your true universal balance. Energy relates to inversed (orthogonal) wrapped space and mass to orthogonal wrapped time. In more tangible terms you may imagine Dirac’s spinors wrapping the same ST fieldlines around the speeding object in ‘quanta’ of orthogonal windings. But what about E=MC2 ? Does not that mean energy and mass are equivalent? NO! The formula is correct, but the relation is based on correlation, not causation. In nuclear fusion it is not the loss of mass but the corresponding loss of space that causes the surplus of energy: The fusion product of one 4He atom occupies slightly MORE space than the four individual H atoms going into the reaction which is true all the way to fusion of 56Fe, after which the fusion product occupies LESS space. This is why stars can’t fuse iron to sustain hydrostatic equilibrium. So where does E=MC2 come from? Look at the speed formula of space(distance)=time*speed. To balance this in the EM quadrant we need to replace in this same formula space with energy and time with mass. You get E=M*speed. Speed is defined as [J/kg=Nm/kg=m2/s2=C2]. So the dual speed formula is E=MC2. Notice the opposite speed notation of -C2 in relation to a C speed in spacetime. This is Einstein’s virtual accelerated surface contraction on which GR is based. It is the imaginary and compensating i2=-1 relation to the real speed of C. That’s why we have complex numbers. Finally, we now see that GR is merely the beautiful mathematical description of the SR effect of speed induced ST contraction applied to the special case of restmass. SR is the fundamental theory of gravity.
