Elton John ~ Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding ~ Honda Center, Anaheim, CA 9/10/2019

My favorite song on the tour. Love Elton's piano coming into a smoky stage, moving slowly as he plays the hypnotic dirge-like notes of Funeral for a Friend. The lights of a crystal chandelier and candles in the background add to the ambience of the "funeral" scene. Then the crescendo builds to the raucous Love Lies Bleeding. The highlight of the setlist in my opinion.
Personal note: will forever remind me of driving on a bus with my dad in Dec. 1978 in Banff, Canada heading from our hotel to the ski slopes for a day of skiing. The temperature outside was freezing cold, but the landscape was breathtaking with snow covered mountains surrounding us. This song comes on the sound system and the bus driver cranks it up loud as we travel through this beautiful winter scene. Have thought of this moment in time every single time I hear this amazing song.
