I know there budgeting issues but this whole scene should of been voiced becoming a divine Blade is a special moment

Agreed. It sucks they give Rean's VA the same amount of material as other characters despite him being the center of the games.
I agree. Also during the final romance scenes only the girl was voiced. It was a little weird and made it a lot less emotional when you could only hear one person’s voice.
These issues were fixed for the rereleases of cold steel 1 and 2. But sadly they did this problem again with cold steel 3 and 4.
Might be how the game is coded, maybe? But trails of cold steel 3 and 4 are very long so having all the important scenes dubbed is a lot of effort, regardless, though I do agree this whole part should’ve been dubbed.

From being convinced he's only a mediocre drop-off of a swordsman, to becoming a master, one of the strongest swordsmen on the continent.
All it took was to gain courage to live. Not to sacrifice his life "heroically", but to live and become a hero.

Rean battling against his Demon self instead of Cassius... Really fitting since I would consider his demon side his fear. Breaking Dawn is a pretty fitting name for the S-Craft. It shows that Rean mastered all the forms he learned during the games
It's also fitting because this power is to be used to end the twilight, going from the dark night to the bright dawn.
Void is equivalent this series Version of “Ultra Instinct”.
Rean’s Void is still Incomplete though. He Has the power inside him but he doesn’t have Constant Access to it, Yet.

That moment was so epic! Rean entered the divine blade realm! Now I'm wondering if all of them develop a different ultimate attack
After 4 whole games he finally did it and became a divine blade, it was worth it after over 300hrs of gameplay of these games to see Rean's final S-Craft and it was fucking amazing to see
300 hours? did you use 300 hours to complete all 4 games? why is it so little? i had used 120-150 hours just to complete Cold steel 1.
Ougi Mujinken and was later rename in Hajimari but still have the same Mujinken
This is one of the reasons why Rean was much more interesting than any other Trails protagonist so far: We saw him develope from the competent but scared boy, who had skills, but were too affraid to use them in the first game, into the confident warrior who decided to go his own ways in the second game, to the mentor with a lot to teach but still a lot to learn in 3, to finally being the confident warrior with a heart of gold and steel, who can now stand up to or even surpass the best in Ouroboros and Ironbloods.
It had been a long time since i felt as involved in a main character as i did with Rean...
One observation i made during the 4 games was that they basicly follow a steady progression of involvement and competence from both Rean and Class VII:
CS1: Class VII is pretty much the observers on the outside looking in. They aren't really personally involved with any of the plots they encounter, and they don't really have the strength or experience to do much without help.
CS2: Class VII is now directly involved in the events of the world, and even if they have gotten stronger, the game has to save the class more times than you can count, and even the Infernal Castle is just a series of small battles, before someone stronger takes over so you can go ahead.
CS3: Rean and old Class VII is much more competent in every area, but Rean has to take care of a group of unproven fledglings, and even their connections in pretty high places haven't gotten them closer to understanding what's going on with all the plots around them.
CS4: Class VII, old and new, is now at their peak for what can be expected of someone their age, and every one of them has their goals and ambitions set in stone, and now see the big picture of the conflict!
I just love how each game makes the challenge and involvement more intense, but let's the group get stronger and more resolute as time goes on
i love how at CS4 you fought all the "unwinnable" battles/ "brought them to 50% HP" from CS1-3 and actually really win against them
@@grandygon showed that Rean from CSI and CSII is still a kid with barely any experience who's fighting against enemies way out of his league... but give him time to grow and he'll surely defet them
Mcburn went from couldn’t care less about this bunch of kids to unleash his full form and apologize to them afterwards, now that’s just shown how much class vii old and new have grown.
what are you on? cs is cringefest. the writer has to constantly do asspulls to get the story progressing.. not to mention the harem aspect.

Rean would had become a Divine Blade much sooner had he had a strong urge to become stronger from the begining like Loewe did.
Rean didn't have any interested in becoming stronger till he met Class VII, but aside from that he has an extraordinary Rapid-Growth Rate.
That is actually why Ka-Fai dotes on him according to every character who knows them. Even Cassius acknowledged that their Master considers Rean his best disciple, and thus gave him the hardest form to master. Rean’s bad habits just never let him see that, to the point he thought he had no talent back in CS1.

@@soralight_x I dunno, maybe try THIS VERY GAME when Cassius praises him as the one with the most potential. Or the very persuasive argument that he chose Rean, especifically, as his last student PERIOD as stated in his letter in CS3. But I’m not going down the rabbit hole of rabid fans who defend their power tiers to the last breath.

I think Rean has the highest potential out of all the disciples of Yun Ka-fai. Throughout the whole erebonian arc, I think Rean has shown all forms.
First form being Helix where there would be a rotary motion slash
second form being gale which is cool
third form which is Rean's flame impact and later dragon impact, and I think rean's s-craft, azure flame slash is included in this
fourth form is a horizontal quickdraw dash slash which I think in Rean's case would be the autumn leaf cutter
fifth form is an upper slash which is the morning moon which in Rean's case would be the crescent flash which is a diagonal upwards quickdraw motion slash
sixth form is a projectile slash like Arios' rend, Anelace's s-craft and in Rean's case the arc slash in tocs I & II and the crimson slash in trails of cold steel III & IV
seventh form as we can see would be the void, which is Rean's s-craft throughout the series and his spirit unification
Cassius and Arios failed as disciples because when tragedy hit them, they abandoned their way.
Cassius lost his wife and completely abandoned the path of the sword.
Arios felt responsible for his best friend's death that he basically submitted and gave up on himself.
Even when Rean hits his lowest after the death of a loved one, Rean didn't abandon the sword or himself. He still clung to the smallest glimmer of hope.
@@0axis771 Rean is truly something else. Considering all the suffering he’s gone through on all the games, he still remains strong. Anyone else on his circumstances would had broken down by now.
@@soralight_x I mean, every other protag have gone through their own trials and issues and held strong. I wouldn't say that Rean is the only one that can endure what he had gone through.
However, what separates Rean from Cassius and Arios is that Rean is how they are presented as.
From the get go, Cassius and Arios are built up as people that were strong to begin with. So when their strength ended up failing them and they suffered tragedy and loss, it was too much to bear. Rean on the other hand was someone that was weak but became strong, so even when he was hit with tragedy, he was someone that still felt that there was a way through this.
The kanji shown during the s-craft are all the numbers of the forms in sequence followed by the associated craft.
Rean is like the jack of all trades of the eight leaves school since he uses all 8 forms.
nope.. all 8L1B practicioners know all styles. even the beginner level (sen1)... but to become a divine blade. you need to have a mastery of any one of the 8 styles. that 1 style of mastery can and will beat any intermediate level.. if youre lacking with just a bit. it will be like colonel richards. as he failed to become a master. hopefully anelace would break her slump. as she hit a road block. and got stuck into beginner/advance-ish level.
Rean is the master of the 7th form.. void.

Not sure myself, but I agree Gaius' choice of epithet's pretty tempting. I thought I heard "Divine Blade of Steel" going around at one point, obvious as that epithet sounds.

In Japanese version, Breaking Down is named "Bladeless Slash" .
the kanji is actually 無仭剣
where 仭 is an ancient Chinese measure of height, depth, etc
so it could also be translated as "endless slash" or "rangeless slash"

Probably Too late to comment this, but I always thought Reans Divine blade tittle should be 'Divine Blade of Light' as that has been his stated goal since as early as CS:2. It only took till CS:4 to achieve that goal, literally being the light that illuminated the clouds over Erebonia.
Hopefully he gets his moment besides in cs2

I'm just sad they didn't add voice lines here for Rean. They really coulda, but slacked... I remember when the English Trans teams would go out of their way, either with chests or more voice lines. Ugh.
There is a budget they have but I think the English cast could have done it compared to JP as the JP are more expensive
@@CGInferno Exactly! We saw them do it for CS1/2 if I remember, the VAs probably woulda done it for cheap or free too considering (I would hope). So it's just so sad they didn't...
Cs 1 2 and 3 had more voices than this one
@@NMT06 CS3 had LESS voice lines IMO. 1 and 2 only got extra lines when Falcom gave Xseed the ok to mess with the code and record more lines for the PC version. The PS3 versions had the same issues CS3 and 4 did (because the partial dubbing is on Falcom itself).
It’s still possible we may get additional voice lines through updates or the PC Version of CS4. One can only hope.
So how many hours into the game is this?
Before the final act
I was about 110 hours in at this point. I take my time with these games though.
I was like 150 hours in. Before last mission did tons of hidden missions, hidden chests etc and Endesa the Game with like 182 hours.

Well i doubt rean stronger than cassius, i mean cassius here pretty much just mimiking Rean since He need to act as mirror for Rean, if its normal duel i doubt Rean win for now
Arseid is weakened, first the Battle with MC Burn on CS2 left some scars and inability for breathing , thats how Aurelia won in CS3. And then he lost his arm....still powerful but never in his prime again.
Also, Cassius is stronger with a staff than a sword, not to mention that he is out of practice with the sword.
Mf I came here to see how this fight is supposed to be done since I keep getting killed. Apparently the s craft has to be manually went to in the crafts…. I was wondering why it never showed up for me smh

I believe that scene is a major pivotal moment in Rean's story and simply writing that in the title is going to spoil that moment for many players who haven't caught up to Cold Steel IV and are just casually browing youtube, and got randomly recommended this video. Do you not agree that this scene is very important in the game?

a year she 23 in revie and 24 in kuro and 25 in kuro 2 reans 20 well now 22? so she was a divine blade when she was 16 then well it fits. Rean technically is still one of the youngest holder of the divine blade title.
So pretty sure this fight is supposed to be scripted... Except it's not and I kept dying because rean wouldn't get the S-craft before demon rean and I'd just get annihilated, eventually ended up having to weaken demon rean, never used it throughout the whole of the 4 games and had to do it to win what's meant to be a scripted fight. I love trails of cold steel but that. That pissed me off
I thought the new S-Craft was Ougi - Mujinken, which literally translates to Secret Technique - Void Blade?
I admit Breaking Dawn sounds cooler, but it feels wrong to have a different translation...

Cassius is not the one who nominated Rean to become a Divine Blade, but rather it's his master. Cassius is just there to facilitate the test.
There is not just one divine blade. It is a title given to all who have mastered eight leaves. Arios and Cassius were both divine blades at the same time, now Rean is the third.
For some reason the fact his final S Craft is translated to "Breaking Dawn" makes me very unhappy (horrible flashbacks going on)

@@theazureknight9399 It’s supposed to be thematic. His blade is the light that illuminates the darkness. Thus he is the dawn that follows the twilight. They needed to keep the symbolism in some form.

@@natchu96 It was the big middle finger to translators. It basically had rough translations ranging from no edge sword, to Void Blade to Infinity Blade. Basically, any smart localization team would do what they did and go for a thematic reference rather than break their heads deciphering what translation was correct.
There’s other actual issues with the localization more problematic than a fanciful thematic translation (even if the twilight comparison annoys you... do remember the big plan is called “The Great Twilight”).

ngl this was a cool moment but at the same time its a huge step backwards towards cassius's character development. in the 3rd, cassius was adamant about never picking up the sword again due to his newfound ideologies, which at the time i thought was disappointing because i thought it would be cool to see cassius use a sword. however, i understood his sentiment on why he started using a staff instead. in my eyes, trails of cold steel will never truly be canon to me
I think he just use the sword to help rean unlock his potential tho 🤔 it's not like he's planning on ever using it in a serious fight atleast 😅

When Yun Ka-fai contacted Anelace, in Sky the 3rd, he was really contacting Cassius, using Anelace by Proxy. Now, I’m sure that Cassius and his former teacher aren’t on bad terms, but in the scene where Anelace duels it out with Richard, then asks if Cassius would use a sword again, he said a very powerful statement that I found to be quite respectable. “What’s important isn’t the weapon you chose, but what you choose it to do - what inspires you to take it up and use it to fight. The reason I chose to put my sword aside and take up a staff is those feelings have changed. That is all.” Also, I’m sure that there are plenty of other Divine Blades out there, so it doesn’t really make sense to me why Master Ka-fai was able to just ask Cassius for this favor and for Cassius to say, I guess I’ll use a sword again just because he was a recurring character from the Sky trilogy. It doesn’t matter that the sword was former Colonel Richards’s. The meaning of why Cassius uses a staff instead of a sword is to protect, and that using a sword does not or never did not share that same type of intent for him. That’s how I feel about all of this. I have many other thoughts on why I don’t feel fondly of Cold Steel, but since Cassius was the topic of this video, I’ll just leave it at that.

@@chrom4141 can't blame you, cold steel is the weakest arc so far. I cant understand power levels in this arc and how stupidly center focus rean is. its just too much and i cant help but cringe every time rean is in the spotlight and how these people worship 8 leaves.
