I'm really interested in foraging and the medicinal properties of plants in the wild so I really enjoyed this video. Such gorgeous countryside too, love the trees. Thanks for another great video Jason! :) P.S. Ticks aren't cute. lol
I wish more people would forage in a way Jason, much better on the environment I say, so many medicinal qualities in plants that many people don’t know! Great video my friend Jason, always good to see you and Mom too!
Glad I found this I grew up in Watkins glen and am always in Lansing by cios restaurant my best friend lives down the street from cios and I am always hiking
I grew up picking wild plants and herbs with my grandma who has an old order Mennonite we would go camping with our dad who as a Mennonite he taught us what plants can be used as tea and medicine and can be used for cooking and baking. Our great great great great great grandparents use wild plants and herbs in their homes for tea and medicine and cooking and baking. Now I am teaching my kids and my sisters and brothers kids why wild plants and herbs can be used for.
@@JasonRuppVlog That never stopped me before. In the texas hill country Cayon Lake dam spill water comes out at 64 degrees and I have no problem with that. I don't care I'd jump in lol.
Some dandelion flowers are sweet and some are not.. just depends if it's been dried out in the sun or not. The flowers that have the darker yellow are the sweeter ones.
Wildman Steve Brill does lots of foraging walk throughs in New York. He'll be in Manhattan on August 3rd. There's lot of youtube videos of him as well. www.wildmanstevebrill.com/tour-calendar
I didn't catch which tree it was she said was also known as the lettuce tree with the asymmetrical leaves at the base. Do you remember what they were? They looked like either birch or popular leaves.
That tick is a lone star tick, identifiable by the white spot on its back. It does not carry Lyme's disease, but is a vector for STARI, which has similar symptoms to Lyme's and should be taken seriously.
Broome county ny here. There is to many snowflakes and liberals in Ithaca. I've done everything in the video for 7 days much like les Stroud. We need the survival part not the talking part, all this is.... cool and interesting video tho you still teach a lot 👍🇺🇸
Manager “SARAH, bob called in and we have a tour just find some stuff in the field and say it’s edible people will believe anything” JASON “ would you put that on a pizza?” Hahahahaha
DJ afroASH what do you eat ?? And who do you trust to deem your food healthy ?? Big Ag? Chemical companies? Not sure why you’re picking on me, come on a hike if you’re skeptical!
Sarah Kelsen not picking non you at all was simply making a joke. I would love to go somewhere and just eat it. Knowledge is power and you have it. If I’m ever in your area I’ll happily take your tour and learn from you.
As a forager, this video was a ton of fun. There's an abundance of free food everywhere! The dandelion flower is my favorite! Fritters baby!
Thanks!! Yeah I admired her knowledge of the land.

Is foraging legal/allowed/ethical at buttermilk? I thought it was an ecological reserve because it's a state park.
I think the foraging part was on private land. Thank you for enjoying the video. 👌❤

Never eat Cattails growing in stagnant water, or for other plants in general.
Thanks for the tip.
It could be very informative, but that guy feels the need to interrupt all the time with nothing to add.
