    These kinds of things always give me such a fascinating, uncanny / creepy feeling. Something about hearing corrupted data always does it, and I love seeing things like this be restored

    I’m so happy there’s an official version now. No more arguing on recreations, we now know it’s original purpose and how it was intended to sound 👏🏼❤️

    I really like how the fully released one was played in stereo mode, as it helps show how cute this music wouldve been playing on two Gameboys when trading. With the notes bouncing back and forth left and right (in-game being the music going back and forth in the gameboys)

    I think it's so cool that we found this forgotten by all, broken to pieces song that we forever tried to fix, and a decade after we now have the real original song before it was ever broken. Kinda beautiful in a way...

    So cheerful, that would have been amazing to hear singing between 2 Gameboys haha

    Wow. So they were intended to play as a sort of duet? That’s really cool. Would’ve freaked if this happened irl when I was a kid.

    I was super obsessed with the music when I first heard about it in 2017... skip to 2022, when coming back to listen to the fan restoration, and I see this! So happy the mystery has been solved, kudos to everyone that's attempted a restoration!
    (For nostalgia reasons, I like the BGVC 4th restoration...)

    I love that you mention the wonderful image of Junichi Masuda's face for Koolboyman's restoration. I remember those earlier days, it feels very nostalgic to me now, especially with how people used to think this may have been an unused Pallet town theme.

    I mentioned this on another video about this song, but there is totally a musical reference to this in the G/S/C credits theme. Specifically the part from 3:08 - 3:14 makes an appearance.

    The source version hurts my ears a lot, I can see why it was scrapped. But a shame because it is overall a good song. Thank you for this video, I didn't know with the leak also came the real version of this song!

    • @dialaforawesome2029
      @dialaforawesome2029 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Well the source version is broken; it was supposed to play different parts of the song on different gameboys

    • @Ambipie
      @Ambipie ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No, the very first restoration was off key because it was vaguely corrupted by being suppressed down into the code. As you'll recall, Pokemon was a really really big game at the time.

  • @THEMIMIK

    the original non restorated version sounds so scary. Why would they leave the first channel very high pitched, and the other one very low pitched

    • @klaviergavin3918
      @klaviergavin3918  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The simple answer is, they didn't. The simplest way to describe it is that this song is saved in a different format as every other song in the game. When first discovered, the method used resulted in the gameboy trying reading it like the other songs, resulting in the screwed up pitch and volume. The underlying vermilion track, however, plays like normal-ish, and is the low pitched part of that song, resulting in that dichotomy.
      unless you mean the source version, in which case... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
