I joined coc after 4 years
And coc welcomed me back with a 7 day hero, barracks, spells, mines and elixir speed up boost. Naturally, I was able to complete my th11 walls from 0-100% in one week.

The lighting spell has been reworked and there are many war army that are related to it

Kids be so young. I remember the days you could sell buildings, traps were OPTIONAL to buy. Back when I started playing Chief Pat (or as he was better known, PlayClashOfClans, yes the original top clash of clans TH-camr, had 15 thousand subscribers and was guiding the max town hall level at the time (which was 8) through all the solo missions. I was very active around the time dark elixir troops were added, I remember the trailer update for minions like it was yesterday (that music was amazing holy shite). The top players at this time were Jorge Yao and Shady, and for those that remember the top clans North 44, Quantum's Web, Bombay Canada and others you are OG's. Fast forward nearly 8-9 years, and the game has changed. Whether it's for the better or the worse I've never been able to know. It certainly is a LOT easier to max out the base compared to the olden days and experience is nearly everything when compared to newer players coming through the ranks with their first accounts. It's crazy how time flies when you're doing something that you absolutely love, and while not my favourite by any means - clash of clans will always hold a place in my heart for being the first mobile game I really got into (along with Car Town Streets and the original Dragonvale, if more OGs remember those).
I also remember that you are not required to build all the buildings to upgrade your town hall

Thank you for those memories, I've just found out when I started playing this game, around may of 2014... I still remember when they just removed barrack training one by one feature, and there was a bug, you could move the troops to get them instantly trained.

I remember spending a *ton* of time town hall sniping as a th5 all the way to masters in 2014. There were even several th2 villages in 4000-5000 (now Titan and legend levels)
Playing since release it's just nostalgic. I remember king and queen had no abilities but they were so strong and their range in defence mode was like xbow.

just returned to the game, used to play in 2013 and ahh the nostalgia and old stuff. I actually just realized you don't have to rearm traps, what a great life upgrade
One of the best update fixes was the Base Editor. Before, you had to manually move everything to the corners, then move each item into place one by one. This was especially annoying for walls. There were no dragging from the arrows or selecting entire rows of walls. Altering your base was only really done when you upgraded your Town Hall, or to a lesser extent if you wanted to go into Farming Mode, or Trophy Mode. There was not much experimenting with different setups, since it was such a pain to switch things up in any meaningful way.
The next best update fix was the manual resetting of traps, X-Bows, and Inferno Towers. If you were gone for a few days, your base would get decimated once your traps were gone and your best defensive weapons were empty. You would lose a crazy amount of resources, and if you came back shortly after an attack, your resource collectors did not have much in them to get back.
8 years this game has been out and I still haven’t reached the maxed town hall lol..

I remember watching “big kids” play clash of clans and they had the sell button and I remember that they also had to rearm traps. I saw one with dark elixer like a year after I saw the game and I asked so many questions. OMG the nostalgia!!!
i just got back into clash of clash after being inactive for about 5 years and i ended up getting my cannons and archer towers maxed (for th8) and troop upgrades too
I started playing when Town Hall 10 was the biggest it got, like a year before Town Hall 11 was introduced, got to Town hall 8 and quite cuz I got bored of waiting I come back like once or twice a year 😅

I just found out I’ve played the game off and on for 9 years... I was 7 years old in 2012 I sucked at the game so much. I revisited my old base it was so rushed and had such low level stuff. But back in the day at school I was the GOAT, or so I thought I was.
