Good stuff! Love the strategy reviewing in interview mode at the end
Really glad you liked it! Thanks a lot for watching and taking the time to comment! :)
Great play through, very clear and concise.
Thank you Chris! Really glad you liked it.
This was the first video of yours that I’ve ever watched. What was the actual play through time? Thanks.
Hi Steve! Thanks a lot for watching. Hope you enjoyed the video.
The actual play time was a bit longer but we edited to make it a bit smoother.
I asked so I would get a sense for how long a 2 player game takes, given experienced players.
@@stevereno1838 I guess you could finish a game in 1½ - 2 hours if you are experienced. It depends on how much time players spend thinking about their actions.
Great playthrough! Very informative and helped me make my decision on this game. Excited to get my hands on this one! Subscribed!
Thanks a lot for the comment Alex, and welcome aboard! We're delighted our video helped you out. Food Chain Magnate is a great game. It can seem a bit daunting at first, but it actually runs quite smoothly when you get into it. It is very cutthroat though, so be ready for some aggressive play!
Outstanding way to present the gameplay, like many others here I was always intimidated to try this game but I'm definitely getting the idea of it WAY more now. Thank you!
Thank you very much Arwen. It is very nice to hear that our video was useful to you. If you get a chance to play Food Chain Magnate please let us know how you get on!
@@AllAboardBoardgames I played a solo variant of it and I'm LOVING the mechanisms behind it! Really want to get this out to the table with others.
@@arwenkathke I hope you get a chance to get it to the table with others! It can be pretty aggressive so your gaming group would have to be ok with that. Glai and I like a bit of "take that" in a game so we had real fun with it!
Nice playthrough! Love the way you presented this, and you guys are fun to watch!
Thanks a lot Daidro. We're really glad you liked the video and appreciate your taking the time to let us know!
Late to the party as a new campaign for FCM will launch in few days. Anyway, thanks for your video, appreciated it!
Hello! We're glad that you liked our video. Thanks a lot for your comment. The new edition of FCM certainly does look very nice. The new components and art are a lot nicer!
Very well done, a clear video where you can see how to deal with different situations during a whole game. Few people know this game in Italy, finally I was able to to find a copy and after your video we immediately started playing with it. It takes a bit of time to understand the dynamics, remembers rules and planning the strategybut it's a big game! Good job guys and congratulations for the video!
Hi Carmine. Yes, we found Food Chain Magnate hard to find. We had to wait a few months but we got it eventually from the Splotter website. There are a few fiddly rules and it takes a bit of time to get them all down, but after a couple of plays it is actually quite smooth. It's quite an aggressive game, but it is a lot of fun and very strategic. Thanks for the comment. We're delighted you enjoyed the video!
really great playthrough. Lovely people, also good explanations, good overview, angles, effects. Thanks for the work!
Thank you very much! This kind of comment is always very encouraging to use so we really appreciate it. Happy New Year to you!
@@AllAboardBoardgames Thanks, same to you!
Great work as usual! Thank you
Thanks a lot for watching!
Hey, just a wee bit late, but wanted to mention that during Order of Business tied slots means turn order is decided in order of the prior turn. You are not obligated to keep the same order from turn to turn.
Thanks for that Bill. Sorry if we missed that one. Hope you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
Ok. There is a deluxe version coming to Gamefound and this was the first video that actually showed the game in action and wasn’t just a review talking about it. This has cemented that I would probably like this game.
It is a bit of an engine building game where the engine can be tinkered with every turn as needed. At least at 2 players. Probably is different at higher player counts, but I think I’ll like the game.
Hi there. Yes, we have a lot of fun with Food Chain Magnate. The game scales well to the number of players, though it is quite a different experience with more players. But we enjoy it at every player count. It's probably best at 3-4 players. Thanks for the comment. We're glad that the video helped you understand how the game plays!
Another good video. Well done you two!
(I hope Glai is the one handling the household economy.)
SIrbrastias, thanks a lot. I really don't know what to do... Glai is far too smart for me! haha Glad you liked the video, and yes, after my performance there Glai is now fully in control of the household economy!
So glad to see how the opening turns go. I wasn't sure how the game actually started.
Hi Alex. I'm glad our video was able to help you out. Food Chain Magnate can seem like a very complicated game, but when you sit down and play it, it is straightforward enough. Let us know if you have any questions about it!
awesome playthrough! where can i find this game?
Thank you Mareanne! We got the game directly from the Splotter website.
Your gameplays are really fantastic and helpful with all the animations. Please keep making them this way.
And by the way, you don't need to play upside down. Just rotate the video that comes from the camera 180 degrees.
Cheers!
Thank you very much Rodrigo. We're delighted that you are enjoying our playthroughs. Thank you also for the advice. We have tried rotating the video in post production but the angles don't look nice so we decided to go with playing upside-down. It's fine though - we are used to it now! Cheers! :)
As usual from you too, great video.
Thank you very much! Really glad to hear that you liked the video, and we appreciate your letting us know!
Great video guys 👍 Gameplay really stepped up a gear from about 42 mins with competition for cola and lemonade! That was a pleasure to watch.
@Economic Board Games Yeah, I put down my second restaurant to try to take some of Glai's market share, but she quickly and cleverly put a stop to it by hiring a bunch of waitresses! Food Chain Magnate really can get aggressive and there is a lot of competition for spaces and restaurants, but that is all the fun of the game. Thank you very much for your comment! We delighted you enjoyed the video!
Thanks for this great gameplay ;-) Anyway You made some mistakes and the one You didn't mention is at @46:25 - bonuses ar not doubled. So there should be 20x2 + 5 = 45 (for the first house) and 20x2 + 5 = 45 (for the second one). So finally Glai should take 90$ instead of 100$ ;-) Anyway I'm glad to see such a pro gameplay of a game with such complicated decisions to make ;-) Definitely subscribed!
Thank you for the sub Kris and welcome aboard! We're delighted you enjoyed the video. Thanks also for pointing out the errors. I have inserted them in the Klingon subtitles so that other people learning the game will be aware of them.
Three years late 😂 but @41:17 neither house would have bought your lemonade as your restaurant was 2 tiles and 1 tile away, making the unit price for Glai's restaurant cheaper compared to yours, so they would have gone to her restaurant instead. Waitresses are used to break ties.
Great video btw
Hi there! Thanks a lot for watching our video, and we're really glad that you liked it. As regards the lemonade, both Glai and I have a restaurant on the same tile as the 2 houses that want lemonade, so they bought from mine because I have more Waitresses. Please let me know if I am missing something here. Cheers!
Great game! :)
It certainly is a great game. Very unique and cool mechanics!
Nice Video
Thanks a lot! We're glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Great stuff. Subscribed.
Thanks Eric! Delighted to have you on board!
It was a good showcase, but there's something wrong with marketing campaign
Your burger and pizza billboards had been there for the whole game since you placed them, which should have only lasted for 2 rounds. You may try removing one burger from billboard once it's advertised instead of waiting for cleaning phase
Wonderful ;)
Thank you very much Roli SAnder. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Hi, I love your playthroughs, well done. I have had this game quite a long time but never played, as my brain seems to think its very difficult. You made it look easy.
Any tips on how to learn and teach it to my gaming friend? I really do want to bring this to the table.
Again, thank you and well done.
Please stay safe.
Hi Steve. I know exactly what you mean. Food Chain stayed on our shelf for a long time before I decided to brave it, but actually it turned out to be a bit less complicated to play than I thought when we got down to it. My advice for learning it would be to first of all, watch our video (as you have already done) in order to see how the turns work. Then give the manual a quick read just to cover rules of things that may not have cropped up in our game. After that, set up the game when you are on your own and just try playing it as if you were with people, referring to the rules when there is something you are not sure of. You are also welcome to post questions here and I will get back to you as soon as I can. The menu that comes with the game is very good, and it gives you all the steps you need to take during a turn. When you actually start playing it you will see how it all comes together. Some easy things to miss are that when doing the marketing campaigns, first resolve them in order of the number of the campaign. Houses will only have a maximum of 3 items on them unless they have a garden, in which case they will have a maximum of 5. During dinner time, the houses sell food in order of the number on the house, and they will only buy food if you can provide everything they want. They will not just buy in parts from different players. Then, when a number of restaurants can satisfy their desires, the deciding factor is the distance (+1 every time you cross to a new tile) + price. In the case of a tie, the restaurant with the most waitresses will make the sale and in the case of a further tie the first player in turn order makes the sale. When placing marketing campaigns, don't forget the range and that it must be beside a road. Anyway, just give the game a go to get the feel of it. After playing it once, then read through the manual again and you will pick up on anything you missed the first time. After that, you should understand it completely and you can teach your friend! I hope this helped!
Thanks a lot for your comment. We're delighted that you enjoy our playthroughs and I hope we make more videos that you like! Please let us know how you get on with the game. After you learn it, it will take a few goes to get the hang of it, but even the early games learning it are fun! Stay safe!
Thank you so much for your brilliant reply. I will 'brave' it now and get it to the table........well.......after I look at your video again first....lol.
Stay safe, and thank you.
Haha! You’re in for a treat Steve. Looking forward to hearing how it goes!
Do you think the game will be better or worse at 4-player? Great video, btw!
Hi Geoff! I think that the game is probably a bit better at 4-player. The game scales well with more billboards and a larger map when you increase the player count. It still kind of boils down to smaller battles with people closer to you as you can't really affect what happens on the other side of the board, but there is more production and it is a bit more difficult to fulfil orders with more players. Food Chain Magnate is a really great game at any player count though, and I'm sure you will enjoy the 4-player experience. Thanks a lot for your comment - we're delighted you enjoyed the video!
2:15 Does anyone know if that's legal? My understanding was that it would be legal if building a new location later in the game, but during setup you need to have the full restaurant on a single tile.
And on the bright side, by the end any minor errors in play wouldn't have changed the results. Good to see.
Always fun to be able to sit back and get an overview of the board with zero stakes in the competition! XD
Hi there. Yes, this is a legal placement. There are a few limitations on the initial placement of restaurants:
- Restaurants must be placed fully on empty squares that do not contain any other restaurants, roads, drinks, or houses.
- Restaurants must be placed so that their entrance borders on a square with a road.
- Restaurants may not be placed in such a way that their entrance is on the same tile as the entrance of an existing restaurant.
Otherwise it is ok. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching!
@@AllAboardBoardgames Ah, I must have remembered "fully on empty squares" as "on a single tile".
Thanks for the reply! :)
@@ChimeratAlpha No worries! Hope you enjoyed the video!
other playthroughs i've seen do not say you cannot pick up the same drink multiple times, if you pass by multiple drink producers of the same color. Where did you come up with your rule for this? The rule book states, Same as cart operator, but the truck has a range of 3, and takes 3 drinks per symbol you pass by. It says per symbol you pass by. So when she got that bonus move milestone for first cart operator, the rules you were playing by basically nullified that bonus. And the one time she did use it at 45:49 you you made a correction and said she wasn't supposed to do that. So what's the verdict?
Hi Damon.
Can you please let me know where we say you cannot pick up multiple drink producers of the same colour? You pick up drinks based on the drink symbols you pass by when you pick a route and your limit is the range. At 45:49, Glai traces a route from her restaurant and counts the 3 tiles correctly. However, because you are not allowed to U-turn, there is no way for her to pass by both colas. You follow the road from her restaurant, and she has a range of 3. So she would come out from her restaurant, cross onto the first tile and pass by the lemonade (where she gets to pick up 3 lemonades), and then she crosses onto the second tile. Now she has a choice - she can go straight and pass by the cola on that tile. This would give her 3 colas. OR, she could take a right turn just before the cola (thus not passing it) and continuing along the road onto the third tile, where she would pass a cola. Either way, she is only going to be able to pass by 1 lemonade symbol and 1 cola symbol so she would get 3 lemonades and 3 colas.
Hope this helps!
@@AllAboardBoardgames Okay I see it now, the cola place is right on the corner, so It appears like she should be able to pass by that one and turn and also get the other one. but to actually "pass it" she would technically have to pass the turn. So I get it! Thank you for this clarification. I'm learning the game and want to make sure I am playing it correctly! Sorry about that.
@@DamonWarlick Exactly! No, worries at all. Glad to be able to help. Hope the video helped you see how the game works.

Excellent graphics and explanation. However, it seems like a very mechanical and bored game. Maybe it was the somewhat automated way you guys played it. I'm not excited about it; but since I already have it, I will have to try it.
Excelente gráfica y explicación. Sin embargo, parece un juego bien mecánico y fome. Tal vez fue la forma un tanto automatizada en que ustedes lo jugaron. No me entusiasma; pero como ya lo tengo, deberé probarlo.
Hi JuegosMontt. Food Chain Magnate is not for everyone but we found it to be a lot of fun. It is very cutthroat so if you like very competitive games then you will probably like it. If you prefer less aggression, then you may not be into it. Seeing as you already have the game, you should try it out and see. Please let us know what you think of it when you get a chance to play. Thanks for the comment!
Hola JuegosMontt. 2 to 4? Or 3 to 4
Hi Mero Mero. Sorry, I am not sure what you are referring to. 2 to 4 or 3 to 4 of what?
I mean at 35:38 the ceos should have uncreased from 2 to 4..but it's from 3 to 4
@@MeroMero-ry3iu Ah yes! You are absolutely correct. It should have been from 3 to 4. Thanks a lot for letting us know!

Game is like building a pyramid scheme. If you are losing early, you've lost. 90% of people interested in this game probably wont like it.
Hi Acoma Slip. Food Chain Magnate can indeed be pretty unforgiving, and if you make a mistake early it can be hard to come back. However, that is also assuming that the other player will not make a mistake and knows how to capitalise on your mistake. You will also learn very quickly not to make that mistake again. But yes, this game is not for the faint-hearted!
