You absolutely MUST do a review of House. I can't wait to see what you think of that one. It is one wild trip. 👍 On a totally different note, I also ordered Romeo and Juliet but my copy hasn't arrived yet. I've never seen it and am looking forward to it, the controversy notwithstanding. One cheat note from my school days - "wherefore art thou Romeo?" means "why are you Romeo?" (or more loosely, why is your name Romeo?). It doesn't mean "where are you Romeo?", despite what the creators of the Flintstones believed. 😁
I just got packages from Criterion today! I got the Blu-rays of “For All Mankind”, “War of the Worlds”, “Godzilla” (1954), plus the music films “The Last Waltz”, and “The Velvet Underground”.
After calling myself out last night now I have to comment on all your videos. 🤣 I need to grab Freeway & Freeway 2. They’ll look great on the shelf together.
I watched Freeway II last night. It's absolutely insane and I kinda loved it. Definitely not for everyone but if you have the stomach for it it's a worthy watch.
Hausu (House) is one the weirdest, whackiest horror movies I have ever seen, and I love it! Definitely be prepared for a wild trip with that movie haha
Hey I also picked up Romeo and Juliet mostly out of fear like you of it being pulled off shelves, but I actually remember enjoying the movie when I was younger as well.
I watched my copy of Freeway II 4K Blu-ray (for the first time) and loved it. The movie is bonkers. It's like Freeway but 10 times more grimy. Although, I did not think it looked as good as Freeway but it still looked great.
On a side note Disney’s Cinderella was released on 4K UHD today as a exclusive through their movie club. I believe it is a timed exclusive for now. It does feature a stunning brand new 4K HDR10 transfer with no DNR present unlike their earlier HD transfer.
I saw some screenshots of the Cinderella 4K on Twitter, the movie looks incredible! Film grain intact, colors are vibrant, and they've fixed the color grading of the movie so her dress is no longer light blue, it's back to the proper silver. Definitely will be buying when it gets a wide release, hopefully Best Buy will come through with a new Steelbook for it
My Criterion came in the other day picked Carnival of Souls, Island of Lost Souls, Kwaidan 🎉and The Incredible Skinking Man. Also 4ks of the Woman Trilogy and Perdita Durango came in too.
If you like House, then you'll love Equinox, another Criterion title. You should hit up your local library because it most likely has Criterion titles so you could watch before buying. The wife and wallet will thank you for dodging bad movie buys. I'm doing a lot less blind buying these days.
I love Freeway, I never saw 2 and I’m sure it’s crap but I want to own it. I love the background, the lights looks like they’re in a better position. You want them to bounce off of the walls instead just shining forward without a covering. I’m putting lights up in my bedroom. Are you making a vid on the movie room changes?
From Criterion, I got Inland Empire, Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Deep Cover, and Cat People. I watched Inland Empire last night and it is a trip. David Lynch films have some great creepy atmosphere and to me feel almost horror adjacent. Inland empire is long and is even less coherent then Lost Highway (in my opinion). Treat is a more of a dreamlike experience and it is a very good watch. Laura Dern should have at least be nominated for an Oscar and probably should have one. Unfortunately, David Lynch did not have the funds to promote her for consideration in the trades. So apparently, he sat on a street corner with a billboard and holding a real cow.
I don't know what to think about that Stephen. Haven't truly gotten into Lynch yet and a 3 hour less coherent than Lost Highway movie sounds exhausting to me. Lol
Ken,I also purchased the Movie Romeo and Juliet .I lived in Italy durring that time and could have been in his movie Jesus of Nazareth ,So my question is do you think Criterion will put this movie on blu ray or 4k?Thanks
Great pick ups Ken mate 👏 👍 👌 I've learnt to try before I buy with VS, everyone told me Blades was awful and Ice Cream Man was great, bought both and it turned out Blades was great and Ice Cream Man was lame 😂 Don't sleep on Severin though, they've got some similarly good trashy titles
Ahh, I'm kinda jealous that you managed to get Golden Era with the slipcover! It is such a super cool design, looking like an N64 game box on the slipcover, and an N64 cartridge on the inside case. It has been sold out for a while now (and even the standard edition seems to be sold out now), it seems, and idk if they are ever going to get any more with slipcover, but I really hope so
You'll have to let us know what you thought of 'Romeo and Juliet.' But I can't see it being taken away just because Olivia Hussey may win a case. If anything, the studio that was involved in the production is going to need sales to pay any judgements they may be slapped with. Not to mention that if the movie was "canceled," Criterion would sue for breach of contract because they had to pay to license it.
No, remember how Criterion lost THE THIRD MAN due to a court case years ago? It had just been released a few months earlier. I totally forgot about this release so now I wish I'd have gotten it during the Flash Sale. I may have to pay full price for it.
There are plenty of labels releasing the “movies people want more,” and that’s what I love about Vinegar Syndrome: they release films, that would otherwise be forgotten. Many of them, simply do not deserve that fate, as they may be low-budget, but they succeed, where Hollywood continually fails….being ENTERTAINING. For example: I tried watching Amsterdam recently. The first 15 minutes were actually decent, until I watched the next 35+, which focused on the poor black soldiers, being mistreated by their comically terrible white commanders. Enough with the political messaging: I hit STOP, and never went back.
"Primal Rage" is crap but it is good crap in my opinion. "Freeway 2" is not as good as the first film but still some messed up fun. Both 4K's look fantastic. All hail Vinegar Syndrome!
Freeway II isn't really a sequel imo. I think they had another odd script lying around, added just enough to LOOSELY tie it to Freeway, and slapped "Freeway II" on the cover. It's weird and compelling. I'm not sure I'd call it GOOD, but I'm happy to own it. I'd love to hear at least a mini review. Enjoy!
Inland Empire was shot on NTSC DV tape. There's no point in putting out a 4k. I've seen it in the theater three times and have it on dvd as well as this and a previous blu-ray release from Germany. They all pretty much look the same. There's just so much you can do with the source quality. Also, I'm 100% certain based on your mainstream tastes that you will hate this film. 😂
As a former subscriber who had every slipcovered title they ever released until the beginning of 2022, Vinegar Syndrome sucks. They keep raising prices, slow shipping, making up new sub-labels so they don’t have to give extra titles to Subscribers, and the biggest problem I have: they never upgrade the audio on their 4Ks. I have since only bought 3 titles in the last year and a half. Stopping my subscription is a one of the best decisions I have made, I’m ecstatic that money is going somewhere else now.

Awesome movies Ken and you have a Nintendo 64 very cool I have one to I still play it 🆒👍🕹️😎
You convinced me I need that Romeo & Juliet Blu-ray. I think I'm going to order it, without waiting for a sale. Just in case it gets pulled.
I picked up Primal Rage also. I watched it the other day and actually enjoyed it. There are some really cool costumes during the Halloween party.
I just got packages from Criterion today! I got the Blu-rays of “For All Mankind”, “War of the Worlds”, “Godzilla” (1954), plus the music films “The Last Waltz”, and “The Velvet Underground”.
The Cloak & Dagger set is a great partner to the N64 box.
Unbelievable! So glad you got House. Have you seen Inland Empire ever? Very unique one
House is definitely a wild ride. I got Inland Empire too but haven't seen it. Gotta find a day to spare 3hrs.
primal rage did have a previous bluray release from the same company that did the older freeway 2 blu, dark force entertainment.
OMG House (or Hausu) is so awesome! So weird and awesome lol.
After calling myself out last night now I have to comment on all your videos. 🤣 I need to grab Freeway & Freeway 2. They’ll look great on the shelf together.
😂😂😂...Thanks Bob! Definitely grab them sooner rather than later.
Yeah that’s Vincent Gallo on the back of Freeway 2. I think he sells his swimmers on the internet now.
House is such a bonkers movie. LoL, weird and strange and very fun. I dug it.

I don’t know if you’ve watched Primal Rage yet or not, but I absolutely loved that movie!
Yes I did. Really enjoyed it as well and it looked great! It made my top 10 of the year as well.
@@midlevelmedia That’s awesome! I’ll have to look up that video.

I picked up Malcom X and Dazed and confused in 4k
I've never seen Malcom X but I've heard Denzel does a great job

Mildred Pierce is probably the most beautiful noir.
Never seen Freeway 2 but heard people get the business in that one
If you like House, then you'll love Equinox, another Criterion title. You should hit up your local library because it most likely has Criterion titles so you could watch before buying. The wife and wallet will thank you for dodging bad movie buys. I'm doing a lot less blind buying these days.
I have my original N64 and Goldeneye too!
Yup grab Wall E and Seven Samurai
I love Freeway, I never saw 2 and I’m sure it’s crap but I want to own it.

did we realy need a 98 minute documentary about freeway 2 probably not but I'm glad we got it 😂😂vinegar syndrome is giving us are money's worth
Ken,I also purchased the Movie Romeo and Juliet .I lived in Italy durring that time and could have been in his movie Jesus of Nazareth ,So my question is do you think Criterion will put this movie on blu ray or 4k?Thanks
VS. when the boxes are better than the movies. 😝😝😝

Did you see Huck do an impression of you and your wife on his stream today? 😂
How is criterion with returns? Got a 10-movie haul during the flash sale but accidentally ordered 2 copies of Dazed and Confused.
Ahh, I'm kinda jealous that you managed to get Golden Era with the slipcover! It is such a super cool design, looking like an N64 game box on the slipcover, and an N64 cartridge on the inside case. Adding more to your total monthly purchase total can’t wait for that video😂
There's a Freeway 2 blu ray that was released but it's oop

WOW, I honestly wouldn't buy any of those movies. 😂
