She was a very likable character. She was the one Bird of Prey I got really interested in after seeing the movie. Jurnee Smollett I knew from True Blood but here what a performance and her fighting was really cool. She really could kick ass.

I loved Jurnee Smollett as Dinah Lance but her fights scenes here are the sole reason why I can’t watch Birds of Prey again. She’s a top 10 fighter in the DC Universe and all they had her do were just kicks. It was annoying as hell and a huge letdown for me as a fan of the character.
This is probably the best live action of Dinah Lance! Don’t get me wrong, I love Katie Cassidy’s Black Canary/Dinah Lance, she was great at it and imo, the best part of Arrow but it took the producers SEVEN years to get it (completely) right. E1 Laurel was amazing but E2 Laurel is everything that should’ve been since the beginning. Even the actress who played Dinah Drake Lance on Arrow wanted this kind of storyline sharing the mantle of the Canary between Dinah Drake Lance and Katie’s Dinah Lance. THIS Dinah, is so far the best one, the storyline about taking over the Black Canary mantle, about her being proud of her power. Jurnee’s Black Canary act like Dinah, talk like her, she literally embodies what Dinah Lance is in the comics and even the actress, Jurnee understand who Dinah is. She definitely my favorite part of the movie and my favorite version of Black Canary.

Imagine if this was an actual Birds of Prey movie and Dinah was given the spotlight along with Batgirl and Huntress. We could've gotten such an amazing fight scene with the three working together, with a choreographer that made sure they fought with faster, tighter, more serious pacing. But because this movie is Harley Quinn, the fight choreography for everyone is too loose and wide to fit her wild style. Which worked in Harley's favor, but not everyone else

I'll never forgive this movie for erasing Barbara Gordon and making it the Harley Quinn show. Hopefully, if they make a sequel they'll focus more on Dinah. So with fight scenes that Dinah has, maybe it’s her just trying to hold back because she didn’t exactly want to be a part of this life (at first). She literally uses a mix of different fighting styles such as Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, and more. And it's the actress's own stunts. She is actually fighting. Gerald Rivera for me doesn’t make any sense because Dinah trained form a very young age , thats why she is a master in so much martial arts techniques , or the movie is trying to change that in some way i dunno .
For those wondering: I think it’s implied in this universe that Canary has enhanced strength, recovery, and agility. Same with Harley. That’s why in the next scene she appeared more sober. And the paralyzing toxin wore off rather quickly.
Most of these characters don’t resemble much their original counterparts. Batman is a cold killer, Superman is meh and not inspiring at all, Aquaman is basically a Thor, Black Canary is nothing like her comics counterpart at all except the sonic scream, Cassandra Cain is NOT on this movie and so on. That’s one of the reasons why the MCU is beating DCEU, they are consistent and stick to the essence of the characters, not just borrowing powers/skills and some design.

The MCU movies and characters are almost nothing like their comic counterparts like the DCEU. And that's because they don't base most of their movies on any particular storyline. They grab their inspiration for their movies from them and make it their own unique thing different from the source material.
The MCU and DCEU have that in common. Besides if fans wanted to see the same thing as the original comics, they should've just bought a comic book from a store and read it instead of going to the movies.

She literally uses a mix of different fighting styles such as Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, and more. And it's the actress's own stunts. She is actually fighting. You just want a bland ass white woman like from Arrow with no real personality besides sleeping with Green Arrow. This is my Black Canary.

@@Richboysinnightgowns this bird’s only attacks are sloppy low kicks and whatever she can do with a baseball bat, plus the voice thing. Comic book Black Canary is way more effective with just her bare hands than Kicking and Screaming as brought to you by Jurnee Smollet.
Having said that, lots of my teenage kickboxing students also play baseball and soccer, so yeah, I might’ve given Jurnee Smollet’s Black Canary too much credit with my original comment.

... it’s an origin story? I don’t know how that’s confusing to some of you. Her fighting skills are downplayed because no matter what adaption you wanna reference she isn’t a badass from birth.
Gerald Rivera for me doesn’t make any sense because Dinah trained form a very young age , thats why she is a master in so much martial arts techniques , or the movie is trying to change that in some way i dunno .

For those wondering: I think it’s implied in this universe that Canary has enhanced strength, recovery, and agility. Same with Harley. That’s why in the next scene she appeared more sober. And the paralyzing toxin wore off rather quickly.

Most of these characters don’t resemble much their original counterparts. Batman is a cold killer, Superman is meh and not inspiring at all, Aquaman is basically a Thor, Black Canary is nothing like her comics counterpart at all except the sonic scream, Cassandra Cain is NOT on this movie and so on. That’s one of the reasons why the MCU is beating DCEU, they are consistent and stick to the essence of the characters, not just borrowing powers/skills and some design.
@@theapexfighter8741 I know I'm late to this comment but if the MCU characters were anything like their comic counterparts, the MCU would be a lot different. The MCU movies and characters are almost nothing like their comic counterparts like the DCEU. And that's because they don't base most of their movies on any particular storyline. They grab their inspiration for their movies from them and make it their own unique thing different from the source material.
The MCU and DCEU have that in common. Besides if fans wanted to see the same thing as the original comics, they should've just bought a comic book from a store and read it instead of going to the movies.
