- I partnered up with my good friend Shaun Anderson who's a medical school student down in the United States for a day in the life of a med student comparison VLOG! As a Canadian medical student myself, I thought that it'd be really cool to show you some of the similarities and differences that we have in terms of our current daily schedules, lectures and studying. Both of us needed to take the MCAT test, meet GPA cutoffs, and fill out the medical school applications and as I'm sure lots of you know, there are many similarities between the Canadian and American MD programs. As a student in the 3-year MD program though, I'm currently almost halfway done my medical school training and will be getting ready for clerkship in the next few weeks. Yeah Shaun’s videos are great 🙌 its nice to meet you too Sherry :D and glad you liked the video! So in Canada there’s 2 different ways to do the MD. Most schools do the 4 year path, but 2 of the schools offer the “accelerated” 3 year program.
Residency depends on what specialty you want to do and is generally almost the same as in the US (with some exceptions).

Thank you for another great video! It was very interesting to see medical school from both the Canadian and American side. Whenever you have time, would it be possible for you to make a video on Ryerson Biomedical Sciences and your experiences in the program? I think it would be helpful for students considering it as an option/to see if it is right for them in terms of class sizes, opportunities, environment etc. Thanks again, and I look forward to your future videos!

What research do you do I’m curious and how did you apply
Currently I’m on a case report, a systems review for emergency room usage, another emergency project, and a chart review.
Our school has a research coordinator so in the beginning I just reached out and asked what projects were available. Then afterwards you make connections 🤙

hello! im a first year family med resident here in Ontario ! great videos, brings back some memories , although cannot relate to the online classes :P My uni didnt even record their classes at the time haha. i make some videos too on my channel, stay connected, mmaybe one day we could do a collab too .
