    In Detroit, we had 2 of the most legendary guards who could take over games at any point and deliver titles to the Motor City.
    On the mens side, Isiah Thomas had some of the most legendary handles and scoring outbursts in NBA history.
    On the ladies side, Deanna Nolan had no peers when it came to her athletic abilities and flatout domination in big moments.
    #11 and #14 are 2 of the best to ever do it and Bill Laimbeer can attest to that.

    The one time in both my wife Char & I's lives that we got to witness a world championship in person, behind one of the baskets at the Joe......September 9, 2006......what a thrill it was!!! Way to go Shock!!!

    Think about the great championship backcourts in Detroit history.
    Isiah, Joe Dumars and Vinnie Johnson.
    Tweety Nolan, Katie Smith and Elaine Powell.
    Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billions and Lindsay Hunter.
    COMBINED, they brought 6 championship banners to the City of Detroit.

      I agree. The biggest obstacles are: 1) Who will own the team? 2) How the team will earn a lot of revenue? 3) Will the team earn profits?

    • @BrownBrother27
      @BrownBrother27 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The issue is profitability. The entire league has never made money. Many individual teams earn(ed) profits, but most have not reached that.

    • @BrownBrother27
      @BrownBrother27 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Owners of the individual teams chose to sell them or stopped operating them.

      The original Shock/Pistons owner died and his widow sold both teams. The Pistons were sold to a guy from Pittsburgh and the NBA demanded he keep the team in Detroit, meanwhile the Shock were sold to an ownership group based out of Tulsa, OK and relocated. These men also tried to get the New Orleans Hornets to move there too.

    Detroit fans, tell me Deanna Tweety Nolan wasn't the female version of Isiah Thomas.
    The way she took over games on the women's side was identical to what Isiah Thomas did on the men's side .
    Both had talents that were just truly amazing.

      The style of play is different though.
      The WNBA of the Detroit Shock dynasty and today is like the NBA of the 80s and 90s and today.

    • @TheMindandTheMatter
      @TheMindandTheMatter 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrownBrother27 I agree. I can't say I don't like the old-school style of play but we can't compete when those 3's start getting tossed up and we can't fire them back. Hoping we can improve it though, I'm all about growth when it comes down to it.
