Excellent information. Another myth worth mentioning. Contrary to popular belief private property does not supercede any regulations regarding hunting. A critter on my land still very much belongs to the state.
There are exemptions though. Because of my age, property size and a few other things I can hunt here without a license. But other than that everything else still stands as far as the FWC is concerned. All seasons, limits, method of take etc must still be followed.

I live in the country outside of Ocala. We are in a farming area with privacy but we are 10 minutes from a grocery store and 17 minutes from an emergency room. I am on my own well (with back up hand pump), a food forest and I’m working toward a solar/battery backup. My ideal is on grid with off grid power and water.

Great video. On one of these live in the woods channels a couple had to use their log cabin as storage over permit stuff and they did their due diligence. A comment on the channel had pointed out the violation and that was it for the log cabin. They addressed it with the county and it turned out they were indeed violating something and that's all she wrote.

I was thinking about doing the exact same thing as you did, but I realized, this system doesn't want you to be self sufficient. All they want is your money with all their regulations and permits. It's a f....d up system. I have decided to just do a regular thing and downsize to a very tiny house to save on energy and repair costs and go big with a yard full of fruit trees, herbs and vegetables to support myself and my pets at least with home grown edibles. In my current house i have a very small yard, but I now grow everything in containers, so I can move my fruit trees with me. I am in Florida as well on the East Coast and Ii don't want to move to another state where the regulations are not that strict. You have to pay a high price for living in Florida, it's not all as wonderful as people think it is. I have met many people who moved down here from other states and moved right back after only a year of being here. If I wouldn't hate cold winters so much, I would move myself, but I hate cold.

It appears your learning experience is a costly one.
Its not that way for everyone and wasn't for me. Its not a good
idea to by virgin land. Its wise to by land with a septic system and
a well, and better yet a fenced in property. That's important. You put
a private property no trespassing sign on all entry gate-way and not
even the police can violate your property without an warrent. If a
person can find a property with these items in place including power
poles for electricity would be likely less costly in the long run, even if
you decide against county electrical service it would help to have access
in a resale of the property. The county will charge you a pretty penny if
they have to install power poles and lines to the property for electrical
services. If a person can find a property with a trashed out trailer home
at a good price that has all the services listed above, it be wise to consider
possibly purchasing it and scrap the home and purchase a new one or
a used one at auction. In the county I live in, you need permit for well drilling,
septic installation, solar array, and a permenant living structure. Didn't need
a permit to reroof a building; if I hired a contractor I would have needed a permit.
Property owners who do the work themself can avoid permits as long as they follow
county regulations. I probably don't live that far from you. If your somewhat fliud and
are able to purchase another property and then sell your current property. It takes years
of long days and hard work to get a property in the condition that fits your family
personal needs, I've put my fruit trees in large potting containers and move em inside
from extreme weather damage. Too many tree's and brush on a property I personally
don't consider to be good. Its a home for snakes, rodents, tics, vultures. Small pesty
ciriters don't like the open ground because they are a birds prey.
3- 5 acers is fine; 10 if you want a lot of elbow room.
If you use the right climate control, you can keep the condensation off the inside of
your windows during cold snaps. If you buy another property, make sure theirs no heavy
dips on the property that would turn into ponds or lakes from heavy rain.
You can over do rural living and under do it, keep it simple and have a back up plan.

Putnam county Florida rescinded that policy . It was 90days max. Not no more. Septic codes are easy and so are well permits. Now there is a weird law requiring being connected to the grid. Okay.. no problem. Nothing says you have to use it. As for the rest goes.. welcome to the Florida I grew up in. Just have to get in the right county. Stay out of Taylor County.
