Nice video but as others have said not my type of fishing, I like to sit and relax and enjoy tranquil fishing. Nice and steady no rushing or continually looking what others have caught. Start when I want to start and finish when I want to, but we are all individuals I just go to de stress and relax but I’m not slagging off those that do matches. Nice informative video and looks a lovely venue
All this gear englishmen use to fish. Keeping things simple lol. Literally using gear some of us Yankees have never even seen. Depends on what I'm fishing. Saltwater passes on shore lately. Bring 1 pole rigged for big fish & one pole for little fish. Gear bag & water. I love Carp fishing, used to live in Chicago & the rivers in my hometown have huge huge huge carp. I've seen some if the world's largest common carp caught. So big if you dont have 80lb 100lb Power Pro super braid you're not going to land these beasts. Thats is so fun I wish to do it again. Just so dangerous & sketchy down by the river at night. Once met a couple from England carping on the river one night hooked up on Instagram. I would love to catch a Mirror Carp. Never saw one in person. They're here in the U.S. but they're very rare & only in a few areas on the east coast Virginia D.C. area.
Haha, things are certainly a little different here! I must say I'm very jealous of some of your fishing opportunities over in the states though. Hope you've been catching a few fish and nice to hear from you all the way over in the US! :-)
@@FromTheWatersEdgeTV Literally had my best day fishing ever in Florida 3 days ago. Landed 7 huge Snook. Lost one that was over 40 inches, snapped 80lb Japanese 8 braid and a 50lb leader. I catch them. Would love to catch one of those Tench fish, they look pretty cool & I know they'd be fun to catch. What is it like in the UK? Can you go fishing anywhere there is water? Do you need to have permission to fish? Must you fish at a fisherie or a place thats set up for people to come? I've seen videos, where people are fishing at designated areas! Is this just the norm? Sorry for all the questions as I am just curious to hear it from a person who actually lives and fishes there!
Great video. Sorry if I missed it but just a couple of observations. 1) Just at the preamble perhaps just mention your findings from plumbing your swim so we can picture why you have chosen the lines you have 2) I didn’t see or hear reasons for not fishing a standard 10 - 2 and a longer line. I get the long line slows down fish retrieval and fishing short always pays dividends if the fish are there. Just wondered if you edited out your longer line?
Match fishing is what will eventually get our hobby/ sport banned like fox hunting . Carp fisherman take such good care of the fish to then have match fisherman whacking them off metal seatboxes to chucking them in tubs to be weighed . Disgusting
@@Samyy-mo9no Sadly it's not just Match anglers. At local fisheries I see anglers using a Pole or Whip to catch Carp and just hauling them straight in with no attempt to play them. Many of the Carp are badly damaged and I've seen some with their lips torn off!
I disagree he’s making a video otherwise he wouldn’t be handling them at all, rewatch it and you’ll notice every fish is put in nets via nets with minimal or no handling, these guys know what they are expected to do regarding fish welfare.the guys who are weighing them in are the fishery owners generally, everyone of the fish swam away uninjured by my viewing and maybe enjoyed the day out😃
Great video once again! I've subbed!! If you get a chance could you take a look at my recent video of me bass fishing on a reef in Brighton? Many Thanks.
Well done coming second!!!!
Its always a good video from the waters edge.🎣😎
Thanks for the kind comments Cheza! :-)

Definitely Dennis! Hopefully one or two on the river too! :-)
@@FromTheWatersEdgeTV look forward to it.

I respect your opinion
Thanks for the kind comments mate and I totally understand what you're saying. :-)
Used to love freshwater match fishing. I did so much though it became all consuming. Gave up and concentrated on my beach fishing. Great video.
Thanks as always Carl. Hope you've been catching a few fish from the shore!
Well done. Always enjoy your matches and the discussion at the end.
Cheers Colin. :-)
Great watch thanks , don't understand places that won't let you take enough nets at the start
Cheers Billy, glad you enjoyed it! :-)
Well in there "widgit"💪 good angling as always!👌🔥
Thanks Gaz! 😊👍🏼🎣
Great fishing nice too see you back on TH-cam
Thanks Wayne. :-)
Love these match videos!
Thanks Bill! :-)
Great video as ever, really enjoyable watch!
Thanks for the kind comments mate, glad you enjoyed it!
Nice work as always. Not my type of fishing if I'm frank, but its certainly action all the way and the banks look nice and neat.
Cheers mate.
Thoughrougly enjoyed that, well done.
Cheers mate.
Hi just wondering wot size landing net you were using, looks like it can handle all sizes , Thanks , interesting video thanks
I'm not too sure mate, they were fishery nets I believe, but I'll try and find out for you.
Great piece of fishing🎣👍
Cheers mate.
Great match guys. Super stuff.
Cheers Simon! :-)
Hi guys fishing main or long lake and just wondering what the best methods are here as never ever fished here before many thanks
Thumbs up my friend, see you in the next video ☮🤝🏻🇩🇪
Thanks mate! :-)
What landing net is that please ?
They're fishery nets, but I'll speak to Steve and see if I can find out for you. :-)
Nice video Steve 👍 🎣. Well done 👏
Thanks as always Andy. :-)
Good video and second in the match 😎
Thanks Stephanie. :-)
Well done mate 👍👍👍
Cheers Pepe! :-)
Enjoyable as always, even if it’s not my particular discipline 👍👍
Thanks as always Fanter, hope your fishing is going well. :-)
Love you guys 🎣
Thanks mate! :-)
what float on the short line steve?
I'm not to sure Barney, I'll ask him for you!
Good to see you're still on that 25% hook to land ratio Wingnut 🤣🤣🤦♂️
Haha! Comment of the day! Hope you and the family are well mate. :-)
I see you've mixed hard pellets with presoaked ones for fishing up in water what is the reason for this and does it work on pellet waggler
I think Steve just sometimes soaks them a little bit so they’re slightly more digestible. I will ask him for you though. 😊👍🏼🎣
Last hour short I've had some big weights
Definitely mate! ;-)
By the looks of the contestants, it seems you gotta be the age of 70+ to join the match xD
Hahahaha! :-D

Great questions Mark, I'll try and get Steve to answer them for you. :-)
Um, yeah. We've already seen your attempt at one of these.
Yeah, in actual fact you've seen us attempt 3 or 4 different matches! Haha. Everyone is different on the day though.
This video very very nice
Thanks mate! :-)
Such a shame, have to be 18 to fish reepham at the moment have always caught loads there
Yeah it’s annoying isn’t it
George march literally
@@byrobills1826 I don’t get why though, no other lake had done this rule
Hopefully things will get back to normal soon. :-)
Why shout?
Steve is quite loud, I'd knock your volume down a bit. ;-)
Was this a matrix sponsored match?
No mate. Was just a Tuesday open.
@@FromTheWatersEdgeTV lol I just meant as everyone was using Matrix gear

Such poor fish care in these matches, shocking really.
Agreed, I don't Match Fish so I've not used a Keepnet for many years.

great video but annoying music
Glad you enjoyed the video Jerry, sorry you didn't like the music!
Please stop putting your fish on to gravel
We didn’t?!
Both nets were lifted out and put on the floor before being weighed. Have a look
