I work at an explosives factory in Italy. The company closes for the afternoon on the 4th December for everyone to go to mass in the local church, as Santa Barbara is the patron saint of explosives workers (and miners, which used to be an important industry in this region, and also cavers, which I learned this week, from a member of my local speleo club). Of course, most of us don't go to mass, most of us just use it as an excuse to knock off work early 👍😂

I always thought this connection was week at best as it occurred long before artillery's had explosives' , no explosion was involved and many non English speaking nations artilleries dont seem to think much of her at all in spite of being catholic ( French , Swis , Polish , Germany , Czech republic, Italy , Croatia or even Lebanon where the events in question occurred and the feast is more like
