You can use the buttons and avoid the kerchunk, just put your thumb down while your 4 fingers wiggle out the code. It doesn't end the beeps but it kills the kerchunk. Thing is these fail in a somewhat dangerous way, there's a steel cable that gets wound up on a motor shaft which is insane. Eventually that cable fatigues from being flexed and snaps so you enter your code and all you hear is Zzzzz Zzzzz it'll be the loudest Zzzzz you ever heard if you your gun in an emergency.
