Just a tip for MBTS, spin the pail around so the pour spout is at the top! Pours smooth with no glug-glug-glug because it can breath. It’s much better for a lot of reasons actually, give it a try!

or just poke an air hole in the lid so air can go in as oil comes out. When you don't use the entire can of oil, put a screw in the air hole to keep dust out.

That black piece is for the seat slide and in the center of it is an Allan screw that is used to tighten up the slide. On the final drive level and fill plug the best way to loosen them up is hit them with hammer and punch that will loosen up the O-ring seal and they come loose easy.

I keep thinking about "upgrading" the old ranch dozer, until I realize that the starter, lights, and the guages on the dash are the only electric things on it, and the only plastic parts are the knobs on the handles. Thanks for talking me out of that idea.

Probably a tad late this time but next time you come across stuck roll pins bear in mind they are spring steel heat treated to around 800 Vickers, which is bluddy hard and will total most work shop drills (and bugger up the surrounding shaft hole it's embedded in due to overheating during a failed attempt at drilling it out)
Try a "Stellite" drill bit at very high speed it can burn it's way through pretty well anything you will come across and leave less devistation in it's wake than a thermal lance😋🤣😛😂

I put one of those suspension seats from attwoods on my case dozer. No adjustment rails. Just had to bolt it down where I like it. But better than 1000 dollar for a new seat from case because the frame of the old seat was so metal fatigued.. you would be surprised how comfortable a 89.00 tractor suspension seat is on a dozer. It's been on there 3 years and about 400 hours. Does well on slopes to. The wrap around design holds ya in the seat. On another note. I really hope you keep the D4 Mike. The case 550 will never be able to replace a dozer. Just doesn't have the visibility or agility. Air conditioning is nice but not nice enough to replacing the D4 the longer undercarriage on the dozer is much easier to finish grade with.

@ 41:00 minute mark, if you hold the bucket so the spout is at the top, instead of the bottom, it won't glug and it''s easier to pour without spilling it down the side. DP and Arron, when you poor oil out of a container, be it a 5 gallon bucket or quart, turn the container so that the spout is toward you and you have to tilt the container way over before it pours. I promise, most of the time it will work better. less spillage and smooth flow with no glug gouging. Try it.

Oil filters that are used in aircraft "must be safety wired". The oil filter manufacturer builds safety wire attachment points on their oil filters. I have always hand tightened all my oil filters. I never use a tool to tighten oil filters...just hand tight. I always use a permanent marker for change date and milage. Blue Sky's.
