The Slits and the Clash are really the only two bands to come out of the London punk scene that I still listen to now. The Clash still sound almost as good to me as they did back then, but the Slits actually sound better now.
@@bradleysmith3887eggae is reggae but you gotta live it to master it musically. The slits were spitters just listen to in the beginning it sound like a rap song I have yet to see another punk rock band amaze me as they did.
silence is a riddim too, dope session :) real music, root of many forms of contemporary art. overlooked in commercial sense, but that keeps it pure to this day. give thanks and send blessings to artists, in all universes , and listeners :)
Amazing amount of talent from 3 people , another really good group with only two women who only released one cd is = VOWEL MOVEMENT BY VOWEL MOVEMENT .
Ok so I knew they were good, I loved them since I first heard Typical Girls on a cassette distributed by the the NME (so ages) but did I know they were this good - in a session from 1981? What else don't I know
Yeah ,must' be the weed talking...most comments are left at 3o'clock in the morning by people either pissed or fukin stoned, probably both...having said that, love Ari Up
Thanks for yet another great session, Vibracobra23. I'm in awe of all these fantastci Peel sessions. I lived in the UK for three years in the late 80s and I listened to the Peel show as often as I could and I taped a few sessions off the air myself. I miss John. Btw, I'm curious, were do your sessions stem from? Did you record them youself, get them thru tapetrading, or are you a nameless BBC employee with access to the old archives?
The palm is like a fruit, an O-range that when you hold a palm-operated device like Android smartphone, it PEELs lightly into those contained substances and gets shared automatische over wifi connections surely CLEAN & GERMFREE just like this Slits radio lp. It is what palms are made for - effectual sharing, no need to tap share button.
Поля Класс yeah you’re right , thought he might have sessioned , but it’s not as tight , off beat as he plays , more than like guy from the pop group 👍
This is truly fantastic stuff. I have just read Viv's autobiography, which I recommend to everyone.
Same! I just finished reading it this week and really enjoyed it. As an artist, I found a lot of inspiration in those pages.
1981 was a year of wild & witty creativity.
*What a shame it was the only year it was known of*

They have areal dub aesthetic to their sound at times.
Ironically The Slits and The Clash are the only two bands I give a pass on "white boy reggae"

My cat wails better than those vocals ! …….what a load of shite the slits were
BRILLIANT !
This could just be the weed talking, but that was the best 25 minutes I've spent in ages.
pape37 amen
you're not wrong. it's quality mate.
I fell in love with her vocals!💕
agreed! must be good ganja :)
Works well with weed 😉

Such a Great set of Songs. I Just LOVE'D The Slits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's brilliant. :)
I'm here because of Björk!
She said that this band was an inspiration for her.
Sounds great!
Ha, I heard typical girls the other day and I thought that the singer sounded a little bit like Bjork
Ha! Never knew that but now I cant not hear it. Especially in kukl and the sugar cubes 🤣
By the way- thanks vibraco- for all the endless stuff uouoploading

So good to hear this, only just found it.
Would love to have heard Peel introduce this.
The girl Ari's duetting with on "In the Beginning" is Neneh Cherry, who was still in her teens.
Neneh married Slits drummer, Bruce Smith, during 1982.
I think Ari was still in her teens at this point too 😅
Ari would have been 19 here, Neneh was 17
Magnificent.
amazing Session. I was just too young to get them at the time
Hard as Hell. the Slits
thank you..more and better recordings!!

hope you've heard their 1977 Peel session too
0:07 Difficult Fun
5:49 In The Beginning
16:52 Earthbeat /Wedding Song
The version of this I had 15 years ago has seem to disappeared off the internet.
Good stuff, historic now
Bom demais pra dançar feito uma maluca largando o foda-se
Que banda
Que álbum
Sounds pretty cool
The ideal audio set up to listen to The Slits, is a 15" bass speaker and half a dozen tweeter horns ( i.e. a dub cabinet).
Stumbled over this. Not at all sure how i feel about it. But then again, maybe thats the meaning.
The Slits!!! Pinky Reggae at its finest
The punk equivalent of a Creation myth. Epic.
It was a love or hate thing with The Slits...I fucking loved them...sigh.
great!
genius, earthbeat in particular, but all of it really
thank God made the Slit-s
Yeah ,must' be the weed talking...most comments are left at 3o'clock in the morning by people either pissed or fukin stoned, probably both...having said that, love Ari Up
XXLnt !! seems like Neneh joined in..?
xx Lavina xx
The Slits are amazing....is this where Blondie got the idea for rapping in Raprute? Sounds very similar....
In the picture looks like Gareth Sager from the Pop Group on the left
Isn't it the Slits drummer Peter Edward Clarke?
It’s Bruce Smith from the Pop Group - he replaced Budgie who then joined the Banshees …

Reading vivs bio..loves when she says Marianne faithfull.. annoying junkie..they are annoying..but goes on to admire her
Riot grrrl reggae??? Lol ;)
The peel sessions were actually created in 1977. Not 1981.
The Slits recorded three Peel Sessions. The first in 1977, the second in 1978 and this one, the third, in 1981.
Who's the drummer of this?
Bruce Smith, of The Pop Group etc
i thought it was budgie
@@MrStinkpot64 Budgie was In the Banshees in 81

Truly awful, never understood how so many people could be taken in by the self indulgent BS of the slits.
im not into it it reminds me of red hot chili peppers and the bad songs bad the dead milkmen but both those bands have real good songs
That's OK Glen: I daresay they're crying all the way to immortality about your slightly confused opinion. Peace.
