Totally agree with you. As someone who’s grown up in the diaspora, I’ve always yearned for greater understanding of pre-colonial Zimbabwe. My parents and grandparents have filled in some of the knowledge gaps but I need more!
So true. Well done my sister. Powerful message right there. Preservation of art, writing, literature and culture need our active participation. With or without government support, each one of us should ask ourselves “ what is my contribution “?
My sister, I am liking your stuff more and more now. I think we are kindred spirits and we should, if it is acceptable to you, arrange to meet up some day in the future. I am a writer myself, but ended up going the indie way because of the lack of appreciation of topics that I have chosen to write on, some of which grate with the establishment in the climes in which we currently exist. I still hope to go mainstream though, but using home publishers, which route does not come without its own myriad hurdles. I love that aspect of your presentation today in particular about our culture, our identity, and how some of us just sit and watch idly by, as these gradually get eroded. Of course the rat race that governs our diaspora lives plays a factor in some of us not finding time to ensure we pass on what we received from our forebears. Thank you.
Absolutely, I'm open to the idea of us meeting, hopefully with other like-minded people as well. We may not realise how urgent this is. Thank you so much. Btw, give the video a thumbs up to help it spread.
Thanks for your question. I haven't written one in Shona but I want to write one for children in Shona. Check on Amazon, there are Shona books on there.
Well, done my sister. Our ancestors' history was recorded by some white people like Karl Mauch who was also criticising parts of our culture and applauding some parts. If you research history books written by ancient white people who traveled in Rhodesia you will learn a lot about our culture and mind you some writings are still hidden from us, for some reason. Let's write for our children and grandchildren if we don't how are they going to learn our culture.
