Would love to see a video about the data analytics, how the data is collected and accessed and how the visualizations are made - always impressed by the quality of the data but also how it’s presented so well visually.
They’ll try to make this analysis tactical when it’s so abundantly obvious what happened in this game. Arsenal came out on 3 scoops of pre workout and blew their entire load in the first 25 minutes of the match. This led to multiple players getting injured and Arteta outsmarting himself. Arsenal aren’t worse: Declan rice got hurt, and Jorginho made a mistake that cost us the win. That’s literally all that happened. In the last 30 mins (40 with stoppage) both teams were completely spent. No energy left at all. Ben white is the only player for arsenal that can play at that ridiculous pace for the entire game. We went too hard in the first 25 and it cost us and artetas subs were terrible
Accurate analysis. Arsenal were heavy on the press, with the majority of the early game in Spurs' third. Arsenal couldn't sustain those levels and Spurs came into the game in the last 10 minutes of the first half and had the stronger second half.
The fact that the team can't execute the managers plan kind of does raise questions about their quality though. The first prerequisite for professional footballers at the top level is fitness. I thought the result was fair on the balance of play, it's just that Arsenal had a couple of fortunate moments that resulted in goals to balance out unfortunate moments such as the Jesus miss. The only real complaint I have about the game was the fact that Nketiah didnt get sent off because that was one of the most reckless challenges I've seen in the PL for a long time.
I think they probably went with this as they were low on energy after champions league game, but the probelm with Arteta is since he became manager is that he doesn't rotate, I just hope he just starts playing our bench in the smaller competitions else we will run out of pace at the end like last season.
@@mashfnch30I didn’t see it as a game plan thing tho, as in, I don’t think Arteta said “literally go all out and spend every ounce of energy you have.” I think it was just the environment and wanting to get one over spurs the players got a bit carried away and no player wanted to be the lazy one not pressing. It is literally impossible to maintain what arsenal did for the first 25 min of that game over a full 90 for any football team ever. It’s not a matter of fitness it’s a matter of mentality. It was a mistake of a young team. Not that it doesn’t still raise questions, as you said, it does (tho I don’t agree about what those questions are). But the question is NOT “are arsenal worse” like so many seem to be wanting desperately to believe. Jorginho is worse, yea for sure. As a team arsenal clearly are not though
If Arteta would have just sat back like other mid-table teams do against Arsenal, that would have definitely meant Plan-B for Ange & Co. Best way to beat Spurs is either be very good at pressing the center backs and/or pivots (and taking your chances) or just sit back and counter.
Great analysis lads, especially the point that Arsenal was struggling to progress through the central area. I noticed that Odegaard was receiving the ball far fewer times , and he is the most vital player who is critical in build-up from 2nd 1/3rd to final 1/3.... So Arteta has to work it out. And Jorginho was probably his attempt to change things... I am disappointed Kai Havertz is still struggling to integrate into the team playstyle and doesnt take initiative... Very worrying signals for Arsenal and fans
Spurs just moved the ball in their own half 55% in Spurs zone while arsenal 55 % of the ball was attacking spurs half . Spurs spent the ball in arsenal zone 18 % and 27 % was midfield . Ange was smart the best defense was to keep the ball away arsenal and press very hard tactical to maintain 100 minutes it worked
@@abdiazizabdi6687 yea true , but as always in football, if Arsenal score 1-2 chances in the first 30 mins of the game when they pressed high and effectively. If Jesus scored 1 of his chances > would be 2-0 and the game would run differently…
As people who are surprised at Spurs this season actually look at the Spurs team this season ? Romero - world cup winning CB. VDV- A cb that is regarded as one of the best young CB in football. Madders - PL experience has won the PL and FA cup. Bissuma - A player who many feel is one of the best Mid in the PL. Son - World class striker. Mixed among them is players who are very good players who can only get better. Moreover. Ange won the treble last season. He know has better players. Not saying Spurs will win the treble as they cant. Saying how their playing shouldn't be a surprised.
Arteta really have a big homework to sort out the midfield and the goal threat issue (which is closely interlinked with the way Arsenal playing). Kudos to spuds, Bissouma and Maddison are playing well for them. I still scratching my head of why Arteta choose Havertz instead of Maddison.
For me this game really highlighted how much Arsenal miss Martinelli and Trossard. if both of our best left wingers are not available for selection then the only outlet we have is to Saka out on the right wing and that it too easy for an opponent to deal with. Having said that, Udogie had a good game, as did Bissouma and Maddison. Fair play to Spurs, they played very well.
It's funny how conclusive takes are of both Spurs and Arsenal after just 6 games. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Spurs have rercuited very well in the summer with smart buys, they also are playing with a new system, manager and composition of players. We've seen it in the past, teams analyse and adapt and this will eventually happen with Spurs, have we seen many teams set a low block against Spurs? No, not really. That's the next step for what is looking like a brilliantly set up team for now and the future. Arsenal aren't as bad as the general consensus is. We saw City 'struggle' to figure their new system out at the start and its the same thing happening with Arsenal this season, if it can happen with the best team in the world, it shouldn't be a surprise that they're still a work in progress. What is evident is that despite their struggles, Arsenal have 14 points and are 'only' 6 points behind City and 4 behind title challenging Liverpool. Underlying data suggests that right now top 4 appears to be the teams mentioned above: Liverpool, City, Spurs and Arsenal in no particular order - let's see how things change by Christmas where teams drop off, or push on. The season is still early, guys!
@hilmer316 Thanks for calling out two instances where teams did! I never said no teams at all have, but there's a difference between what City face, for example, almost every game and other teams in the leagues cope with. All I am saying is, Spurs are doing well, very well but at some point they'll be hiccups as there are with all teams in their rebuild. It would be wrong to assume they've 'made it', with again only 6 games being in to his tenure. Sometimes you have to take a few steps back to truly move forward and it'll be interesting to see how they handle it.
Agreed, it’s typical that a team will drop off after a stronger then expected prior season. Like Liverpool did last season. But Tge Arsenal are still moving in the right direction, just not as much as last season. Expectations are top 4 and knock out stages of the CL.
@@jamesmassin7982 Feels like we're playing with 9 men in the outfield as well, Nketiah has felt invisible in the past two games. I don't think we'll get close to a PL title without an elite center-forward. We're relying on Odegard from outside the box, or Trossard to score us goals from the bench.
@@Steveck072 that’s what happens when you have the resources of an oil rich nation sponsoring your team as opposed to local communities. Modern football is plastic

Hang on!! Can you please clear up for me the Opta "attacking threat" graphic please, specifically for the first half. You say that this data is based on the attacking team having possession of the ball.......BUT this can't be because Tottenham had 61% possession!!! Thanks.
I think Spurs was the better team. They just need to improve on consistent aspects because Arsenal goals were an OG and a Penalty, things that Spurs could've managed better but the Spurs goal were genuinely created due offensive opportunities.
Funniest part, to me, this looked like spurs worst performance this season aside from the game against brentford and maybe some moments in the Sheffield game.
I won't pretend to understand how XG are calculated but seeing both sides have less expected goals then real goals is kind of surprising. Considering how many great chances there were that were saved. That Johnson shot that was palmed away by Raya I'd assume had to be a very high expected goal. and Spurs 2nd goal also was a pretty easy setup after the huge blunder by Havertz. so seeing Spurs only have 1.4 XG seems low. Arsenal's XG of 1.8 seems about right. the Penalty is always a full 1 point XG, the OG is obviously not an XG but then you throw in some of the big saves Vicario made 1.8 seems pretty fair for Arsenal.
Spurs fan here, arsenal are a very big threat and a great team however this is Anges progress after 6 games, Arteta has been there for 3 hers or so, exciting times. Liverpool are there for the taking today if we play out cards right

Learn about Spurs: They're good but if Madison or Bissouma get hurt, they might be dead in the water. Ange Ball is good. Learn about Arsenal: They're good but they don't have that clinical finisher. Depth might strangely also be a concern like last year?
Maddison, Bissouma, Sarr had combined 191 touches in the midfield vs Vieira, Rice, Jorginho, Odegaard, Havertz's 151. Madisson was involved in both goals and Bissouma had 59 passes at 95% passing accuracy! Highest among starters. Jesus bad miss in the center of the pitch, Nketiah looks decent but held to 1 shot and won 1 aerial ball. Rice off for Jorginho looked awful. That mistake completely cost them the 3 points. Saka is still top class and Jesus creates so much chaos. Trossard and Martinelli were missed, but if Saka went down during the game, who does Arsenal turn to? If Son goes down, imo, some of their attacking bite is gone but Kulusevski and Maddison are other goal scoring threats. However, I think its a fair comment on the importance of Son to Spurs. @@farfromit7654

I actually think that the Spurs were the better squad and that Arsenal should feel lucky to have taken home the 3 points. An own goal and a handball was Arsenal's scoreline. Jesus had the only real chance created by Arsenal. Spurs created their own chances and if Romeno had not had those two critical errors or moments of bad luck..... I tend to think Spurs would have left with the 3 points.
Arsenal have speedrun to the point they were last season where injuries piled up and dragged them to relative mediocrity. tbf no one can compete with city, so it's really more just a question of placement if they can hang on to top 4.
Spurs are 6 games into a rebuild and Arsenal are 4 years in. Spurs havent won at the Emirates in 13 years. Arsenal got their two goals off of Spurs (Cuti) mistakes. Arsenal are technically the better team and couldn't beat Spurs.

Love these 2 especially the Scottish guy! He’s got a great accent, is funny and presents really well. Great work both.
The fact that the same hand ball scenario with the same player can resulting in two different results (pen vs no pen) is enough to show how bad the refereeing in EPL.
These videos are by far my favourite at the moment!
JJ loves Udogie and Van de Ven. Man knows ball ⚽
Would love to see a video about the data analytics, how the data is collected and accessed and how the visualizations are made - always impressed by the quality of the data but also how it’s presented so well visually.
Will always watch a video with Jon and JJ
What we learnt is that arsenal fans still haven’t learnt
Love this!!! Keep them coming!!!!
Arsenal couldn't sustain those levels and Spurs came into the game in the last 10 minutes of the first half and had the stronger second half.
their midfield really collapsed without Rice, Jorginho was awful, really why they should've kept Xhaka
@@mashfnch30I didn’t see it as a game plan thing tho, as in, I don’t think Arteta said “literally go all out and spend every ounce of energy you have.”
I think it was just the environment and wanting to get one over spurs the players got a bit carried away and no player wanted to be the lazy one not pressing.
Van de Van was undoubtedly my man of the match, the guy had a perfect game.
If Arteta would have just sat back like other mid-table teams do against Arsenal, that would have definitely meant Plan-B for Ange & Co. Best way to beat Spurs is either be very good at pressing the center backs and/or pivots (and taking your chances) or just sit back and counter.
Any video ya do with Tottenham ill watch and drop a like. Love seeing my team get the praise!
What you are learning is that quality football managers exist beyond the Euro-Sth American bubble.
I've been waiting for this video
Ange ball is great. Ange is the man.

Anges only flaw was subbing out SON. He was too dialled in. Only needed 2 more chances

Apparently both he and Maddison were a bit unwell before kick off
so happy to see micky and destiny getting their flowers after another couple of great games. especially given how difficultly udogie started
Arteta really have a big homework to sort out the midfield and the goal threat issue (which is closely interlinked with the way Arsenal playing). Kudos to spuds, Bissouma and Maddison are playing well for them. I still scratching my head of why Arteta choose Havertz instead of Maddison.
Harverz is not bad he made big difference in second half by winning duels and off the ball movement which gave arsenal more ball possession
JJ cracks me up!
Ange has been known for breaking low blocks throughout his managerial career it's his forte
Bro, have you forgotten the Sheffield United shambolic bust last week? 😂
Both Sheffield United and Brentford played a low block...
@@roan9914 low blocks in Australian league and Scottish league is different to the prem
What we can conclude is that arsenal will most likely not be challenging for a title at all
Nowhere near city and Liverpool level this season so far.
No one getting close to City - It’s ridiculous- No KDB = no problem apparently- ridiculous
Too early to say, but I can’t deny that the last 6 seasons the top 2 had already been decided by gameweek 6
@@Steveck072 that’s what happens when you have the resources of an oil rich nation sponsoring your team as opposed to local communities. Modern football is plastic
Sarrs been brilliant but when bentancur is back he must start in my opinion. The former struggled alittle in this derby lacking some experience in such a big away day.
He looked a bit leggy getting back as well. Maybe it's fitness or maybe he's just slow - either way could leave defence exposed.

Which software is being used for analysis here....
Hang on!! Can you please clear up for me the Opta "attacking threat" graphic please, specifically for the first half. You say that this data is based on the attacking team having possession of the ball.......BUT this can't be because Tottenham had 61% possession!!! Thanks.
IIRC, attacking threat is the possession a team has in the opponents final 3rd.
Lads can I ask what software your using? Thanks!
I think Spurs was the better team. They just need to improve on consistent aspects because Arsenal goals were an OG and a Penalty, things that Spurs could've managed better but the Spurs goal were genuinely created due offensive opportunities.
did you even see the second spurs goal? 😂
@heitkilian there's many of them saying this lol
by what metric exactly???
Scary to think that we haven’t even seen the Spurs ultimate Ange-ball form yet.

Funniest part, to me, this looked like spurs worst performance this season aside from the game against brentford and maybe some moments in the Sheffield game.
what happened to those after matches podcasts mann, I miss those
I won't pretend to understand how XG are calculated but seeing both sides have less expected goals then real goals is kind of surprising.
It was Jorginho not havertz who fucked up
"Blunder by havertz" proof you people dont even watch the games.
Don’t sleep on Udogie. He’s gonna be a star
Spurs fan here, arsenal are a very big threat and a great team however this is Anges progress after 6 games, Arteta has been there for 3 hers or so, exciting times. Liverpool are there for the taking today if we play out cards right
Love this Spurs team, however at some point they would need a classic no.9 for low block teams. Son can’t hold up and lack of body pressure in the box
Arsenal not buying a CMF who's both offensively and defensively effective as xhaka is affecting the midfield.Odeggard shouldn't be dropping that deep to build up
Learn about Spurs: They're good but if Madison or Bissouma get hurt, they might be dead in the water. Ange Ball is good.
Learn about Arsenal: They're good but they don't have that clinical finisher. Depth might strangely also be a concern like last year?
How did u come to that conclusion after watching the video 😂
its called having an opinion lol@@eleonarcrimson858

How do you know? Also, losing Son will be much more critical to Spurs at the moment.
@@farfromit7654
yes it's a problem, sure you can get flogged but it's risk versus reward and I would back Ange leaving the back exposed if it means scoring goals and rewarding the fans .
Jorginho and havertz coming on worked against us.

I have zero doubt if there was a even playing surface(salary cap) ange would win the league more often then not. Remember ange has been coaching this style for 27yrs. Even then i think title yr 3.
Spurs fans deserve a fun season for once tbh
I actually think that the Spurs were the better squad and that Arsenal should feel lucky to have taken home the 3 points. An own goal and a handball was Arsenal's scoreline. Jesus had the only real chance created by Arsenal. Spurs created their own chances and if Romeno had not had those two critical errors or moments of bad luck..... I tend to think Spurs would have left with the 3 points.
Vicario is not Lloris 👍
@18 mins - isn’t that style of play exactly what Sarri’s Chelsea do? Particularly against City
Tifo phasing the podcast back is lovely. But just bring the podcast back already
Arsenal have speedrun to the point they were last season where injuries piled up and dragged them to relative mediocrity. tbf no one can compete with city, so it's really more just a question of placement if they can hang on to top 4.
Arteta needed 3 window to get this stage. Spurs did it in one
Happy to see spurs fan happy 😊
That Arsenal need a striker to win the league. Someone like Callum Wilson would be perfect.
Spurs are 6 games into a rebuild and Arsenal are 4 years in. Spurs havent won at the Emirates in 13 years. Arsenal got their two goals off of Spurs (Cuti) mistakes. Arsenal are technically the better team and couldn't beat Spurs.
So did spurs win at the Emirates? They couldn't beat by an underperforming arsenal riddled by injuries and needed a Chelsea player cuck up to draw level.
Rebuild, weren't the spurs lot claiming to be title contenders last season.
Must be nice to get a draw lol.
So spurs didn't get one of their goals of a Jorghino mistake?
@@AshaD2345 The phase of play the ball had to be won the ball had to be passed and then finished by Spurs. Where as Arsenal scored from the exact mistake deflection and hand ball.
@@alexsmith32012the pall also had to be passed for arsenal to score both their goals....did the ball take itself to the final third
Very disingenuous. Firstly, Spurs 2nd goal came off a mistake. Secondly, Arsenal 2nd goal was going in anyways if it wasn't for the handball. Third, Arsenal riddled with injuries.
So where does that put us? I don't even have to go into advanced metrics such as xG to show how misleading your presentation of the situation is.
Spurs gave Eddie and Jesus the ball only to face goalkeeper both missed versus quality finish from son that is big difference people talking about

Arsenal lost because key players are injured forcing Mikel to improvise. Key lessons to learn and this applies to all teams: The team that will get the best possible result is that team that stays most fit

So Arsenal and United are having an almost identical playing style? Although, Arsenal having a better balance in the midfield which is it’s advantage.
Spurs will be found out before the end of the season, this is something that happens every time they get in a new manager. They were amazing against Arsenal no doubt about that, but I have seen spurs play better football under other managers eventually it did not end well for them as the season approached it's end.
Arsenal wouldn't have to build up through wider areas so much if we had bought a striker worth his salt in the summer.
