I’ve got 2 of those Chronarch reels in my garage. I’ve been using them since new in 1993. They still work great. OEM is 6.2:1. I mod-ed one to be 5.1:1 using a gear set from a different Bantam.

So the Zebco was on a spinning rod and the Spinning reel on a baitcasting rod. You should have switched them out. Still used the Pawn purchased rods and reels only on the appropriately matched set ups. Too bad about that Shimano reel being broken. That would have been the find of the day. Probably cost about $50 - $75 to get it fixed, so... ah.. no. Great idea for a video. Kind of a fun one to watch. Nice of those 2 dogs to show up to make an almost impossible task even more challenging! They were absolutely beautiful.. You could tell someone has been taking good care of them. Kind of odd they were just out. Maybe they dug out under a fence or something.

Awesome video like always LOJO.👍👍👍 what some nice Doggys I have found a lot of good fishing stuff at pawn shops. The last find was Two big tackle boxes full of lures got both of them for $30 one was full of crankbaits, jerk baits spinner airs , buzz baits and most of them were still in packages. The other was full of plastics and hooks and sinkers and had three bait casters in the bottom of box.👍👍 Keep doing what you do and Keep’em coming

You're wrong about this being a not good time to fish. December, January, and February are probably the best times of the year to fish in Alabama. Least amount of pressure all year, fattest fish, and they are easy to find and catch if you know where to look..
You can fix those old shimono reels they come apart completely and you can fix the thing to where it moves when it spools

You could do a "forage, make and catch" challenge with it. Go out and find a dozen or so of those pods and then turn them into rattling trailers - see if you can catch a fish using them.

@lojofishing that old silver surf rod with the cork handle an metal furrel you bought for $40 was actually a really good deal that’s a Garcia conolon they were produced in the 60s-80s they made all kinds of different rods but the one you purchased is a vintage surf rod they typically sell for $60-100 in poor condition an nice ones usually sell for $100-150 they’re actually pretty popular amongst people that like to fish for channel catfish an they typically will get them restored by someone that wraps/customizes fishing rods
Ha ha.. that rattlesnake sounding plant is actually called a "Indian Hemp" or "Sun Hemp Pod" plant.. lol.
If u like using those lizards try the Zoom Chartreuse Pepper seed lizard the next you make a trip down to south florida. They work very well in the rural areas around the Lillie pads, fish the areas where you would think hardly anyone can into that area to fish.

I have a challenge for you! Fish with the Clam Jason Mitchell mack rod 45" heavy. There are some heavy duty ice rods that work great for bass fishing

I went to a pawn shop an bought my first salt water rod an reel. Paid $40 for a off brand Penn Senator 6/0 an a deep sea rod. After buying the rod an reel combo I went to a store called Tuppen's to get 80lb power pro. Worst setup but caught my first boat with that setup.

the shakesphere durango isnt bad but its walmart budget stuff. i rock a durango reel sometimes when im feeling cheep. i think the combo is like 20$ all together at walmart. the casting rod durango is old tho, i dont see those alot.
should've swapped the spinning on the 10 and the pushbutton on the casting. done! budget setup haha... well except for that baitcaster price ouch lol

All you had to do with that Shimano chronarch is get the little cap that goes on the bottom of that guide the older reels the cap dry rots you can get them for six bucks I've had a couple of them reels them are awesome reels the gears and bearings hardly ever go out in the older ones but if you interested in getting rid of that real I'm up for it

That shimano chronarch was 350 dollars brand new back in early 1990's!
Take the old chronarch off the rod and turn it over see if the screw in the line follower is loose if it is tighten it and it should work fine

Dude... You got your open face reel up side down... A right handed OPEN FACE reel has to have the handle on the left side so you use your left hand to wind your line in with, so you can hold your pole in your right hand at all times
I ahve a few thrift shops around me and I go there periodically to see what they have. Most times it's rods and reels, not much tackle. My idea is to see what I can get and fix them up. We have a youth day in my area so I hope to give away some of them to younger anglers to keep the sport popular
