Idk much about the car scene, much less VW, but as someone that is from Hawaii, we do have a lot of nice vehicles especially these ones. I can see em here and there down on the west side and they definitely stand out. Thank u for the video it really shows how people roll out with their vehicles in the islands.
Thank you, outlaw garage. That’s cool. You are on the island of Hawaii. I guess you’re on Oahu. I am over here on the big island of HAWAII Hilo side. But most of our cars over here are the big trucks, Toyotas Ford, and the big Chevys. But that’s cool. You are out here on the islands🤙🏽🤙🏽 well Mahalo and enjoy your trip🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

I'm from Waianae, now living on East coast. I had one '63 bug, dropped front with Olds front end. Paint it Mercedes blue with chrome rims...re upholstered the interior with brand new kit, completely rewired and all OEM stuff inside and added "air conditioning fans" in the duction to blow some air inside. Sold the bug...was too hot and humid for NC summer.
We saw a big group at Papa Ole’s in Hau’ula this weekend. I’m restoring a 68 big with my son. So fun to see on the islands! Not sure how you keep em so cherry since everything rusts so fast.
Yep the ocean air can be hard on an old car but these seemed to cope with it well. Perhaps just good paint and sealed well. Can’t imagine a rat rod paints car would do well the the ocean breeze
It’s true it’s really expensive here in California and most of the Volkswagen here in California are boring. One color not a lot of chrome it just not very flashy. Just boring. Just totally boring man Hawaiian guys got going on with the shiny paint job. Lots of chrome just all kinds of cool stuff going on.
Actually, It is basically 50 percent body color on the engine tin and billet aluminum.. I am from Modesto California.. The Hawaiian scene is awesome! No doubt! This guy Zack doesn't know what he's talking about! Maybe lives in the sticks! Lol
Owned a split baby window 30yrs ago ... bought it minus the motor and had plans to build a maxed out street /strip sleeper ride...kept it in storage for a few yrs and because of most pressing priorities I neglected it and finally sold it...(regrets) hung around vws for many years saw a lot of stuff did the circle island and sandy beach runs and runs and even heard of 2 people losing they're lives racing and showing off the driver loses control of the car it impacts hard surface and because the gas tank is located in the front of the car it explodes into flames trapping and killing one driver the other driver dies in a high speed uncontrolled crash racing on the street...still love the vwbugs/vans/ghias/ just be safe these vehicles aren't build for saftey
Early 60’s safety was a bit hit and miss. Lap belts, no collapsible steering columns, disc brakes, the list goes on. Drive within your limits, don’t be a street hero
Tako🦑 & Tuna, some nice Bugs, I seen one I was gonna buy in California , Burgundy/Gold Candy 47 Split Window Big Moto 2387 Big 48’s Safari Windows Crotch Coolers Vents the Full Dresser Burgundy interior Gold Accents Porsche Alloy’s , Didn’t end up buying it Might-still be on TH-cam ,
Sweet bugs! Glad they are coming out again.
Great crew and cars, driven and absolutely never hidden!

Some cars can be seasonal drivers, Hawaii seems to have the perfect weather all year round
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks 👍

I do know of one hidden under a cover 23 window bus on Oahu but Mums da word!
Oh that’s cool
The OG Volkswagen scene is pretty quiet here in CA. I remember when it was SUPER HOT and all the best styling came from the Hawaiian scene.
Too expensive
@@takcleberry TRUE. Back in the good old days I could find a decent running bug/beetle under $500 all day every day! Mid to late 80s
Definitely gone up in price, but smile for miles they are still great 👍
Shame to hear about the CA scene. We always admired that from scene from Australia. Sad to hear

Yes sir absolutely it was an ingenious designs and thousands if not millions were sold...
Any one know where to get info on the bolt on air kit from Mexico? I want a bolt on for mine rather than welding.
❤😂😢😮😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 My friend has two buses like that he might be selling.
Drop me a message in Instagram and I might be able to help 👍
Are all VW's air cooled or is it just certain years?
The shift from air to water started around 1973 👍
@@OutlawGarage Thanks
