The Aztec clay says "Indian" because some people haven't changed it or gotten used to saying Native American or indigenous instead. I'm Native American and still get called Indian🙃

Not sure it would apply to Natives from Mexico, which were Aztecs and Mayans. Because in Spanish, Indian translates to Indio. And as far as I know, in Latin Culture it’s not offensive and there really is no “proper” form of saying Indian.

Clay masks always seem to be too harsh for my sensitive, acne-prone, normal-to-dry combination skin. Even Herbivore’s pink clay mask is too harsh, even though it’s literally just pink clay, white clay, rosehip powder, chamomile flowers, and rose flowers. Lol. My favorite mask EVER is the BB Seaweed mask from Lush. It is a clay mask. It doesn’t dry me out too much. If i have any texture issues or acne, it seriously improves it DRAMATICALLY after ONE use. It’s wild! It also reduces the redness on my cheeks a little bit. I couldn’t possibly recommend it more.

Pm: Cerave hydrating cleanser, tretinoin, cerave daily moisturizing lotion
I have super sensitive skin that doesn’t get particularly oily or dry, but can get pretty dry when the weather first gets cold in the Winter; but it goes back to normal within a week. My skin is seriously glowing. I look like a porcelain doll. Lol.

An extra reminder about all the drying (clay/mud) and exfoliationg (acid and enzyme) masks: Always do eighter a hydrating mask like sheet one after these or just do some extra water based hydrating, for example a serum, afterwards! You should always be axtra cautious when using anything that is depriving your skin of it's natural hydrolipid barrier, *especially* when dealing with impurities, just as importantly as dryness. Otherwise your skin will star to compensate and form even more sebum and get worse.

The Tatcha dewy skin mask is rubbish!!! Dunno if I got a bad batch but the sheet itself was really thick and had barely any liquid on it. Maybe I'm too used to wet sheet masks that are soaking with serum lol... One brand that is really good that people don't talk about, is Wei. Their sheet masks are AMAZING. Especially the ones that come in a tube.

I just use water with my Aztec clay mask, because I already do a lot of chemical exfoliation, and vinegar is just too much for my skin. The mask is a little more labor intensive because you have to mix it up, but I use warm water to mix it up and dissolve the mask afterwards which helps.
I finish wiping it off with warm water and a face cloth, but even then there will be some added exfoliation just from the grittiness of the clay particles.
The mask requires extra effort to mix up and then remove, but the low price and effectiveness make it worthwhile in my opinion for those with acne prone and oily skin. Just be sure to moisturize afterwards because it is very drying.
I may add green tea extract in the future to the clay as I mix it up for added benefit.
My skin looks brighter afterwards. ☺️

    • @BeautyWithin

It really just comes down to what you think your skin needs on a particular day. But generally speaking, you can use exfoliating masks or mud masks 1-2 times per week to clear and decongest the pores and skin, and then you can sheet masks more often because it's just basically for hydrating and nourishing the skin like a moisturizer 😊Hope that helps! - Fel

I have dry skin that will flake in some spots. But I’m also super acne prone. So I use the Azteca Indian healing clay mask to get my pores clean and clear out any blemishes. Mixed with organic apple cider vinegar not water. But the mask is super drying and my skin feels tight and awful afterwards. So I slather my self up in organic virgin coconut oil and a couple drops of vitamin E oil too. To re hydrate my skin. Especially because the mask strips everything out you need to put some good stuff back in. I feel like coconut oil is pretty neutral and also super hydrating which is what I think my skin needs. I’ll usually relax with the coconut oil and vitamin E oil soaking in and can still feel my face pulsing and tingling because the clay makes your face flush with blood. So it makes me feel like the coconut oil is getting absorbed better than usual too. I’ve been doing this for a couple months. No active pimples at this moment. My previous scares are healing quick and are very light in colour not dark like at first. My pores look lighter but haven’t changed in size. But if they are less noticeable that’s fine with me. Overall I recommend that clay mask for anyone with acne. That thing is intense on pull stuff out of your face. It will suck the pimple right off. But stay consistent with it. I’m just trying to not be an adult woman with teenage acne anymore. It’s getting old. Ya feel?

What really works for me is organic and all natural. Ubtan mask, inknut mask, multani methi and Indian clay mask works the best. Try to go organic as most of products now have cancerous ingredients. No wonder I always have breakouts and make ups destroyed my face, still trying to achieve that old skin of mine which is clear from acne, very smooth and fluffy. 😊😊😊
Coconut oil and olive oil do wonders as well.

Diamond Figueroa they mentioned the spot lightening treatment from Murad. You can also use rosehip oil and vitamin C (with sunblock) during the day and gently exfoliate at night with an acid serum. Just need to slowly resurface your skin :) avoid the sun as best as you can because that will darken your scars
