Hmmm hope that someone Comes with a Custom Firmware for these two. Would be really cool and maybe one of the Coolest devices for the Homeassistant Local Voice Assistant.
If it's Android/Linux it won't be ESPHome that replaces this. Not sure if Nabu Casa would dedicate dev to building the "HA App" as a replacement for the Tuya interface/App.
@@PatrickBulteel i think someone will definitly build an app to replace the Alexa function from the device for maybe google assistant or even better like i am hoping the homeassistant voice client. World be enough.
They look great but I don't want to rely on Tuya. What happens if Tuya change the way they do things or go bust, then what? I like to have all my devices under my control and no need for any internet connections. I do like the look of the hardware. It's a no from me until someone hacks the devices to be used locally.
I think you are underestimate the size of Tuya. They are bigger than Alexa and Google Home combined in terms of home automation. While there are aspects to consider (like cloud, etc) them going out of business isn't one of it. They also cater to businesses first. Which means rapid changes of how things are run, are also unlikely as they rely on businesses using their framework. If you want voice control, you are likely needing connection anyway. Plus as hub uses local protocols, outages arent affecting basic functionalities. Sure you won't be able to remotely change stuff, but your panel will work with lights just as intended.
@@notenoughtech It's like when Tuya took away the ability to flash their hardware with Tasmota. We lost control then. It is a pity they did that as I won't buy any of their hardware now unless it has zigbee on it then I can use zigbee2mqtt. For users how don't care and it works then Tuya will work for them but I am not one of those people and I am sure there are others out there like me.
@@notenoughtech their software is trash, but I guess you can't say that on sponsored video. Everyone in the community hates Tuya and reflashes their devices with ESPHome or Tasmota whenever possible. Local control is the future.
Can you show how to add buttons and things on these panels? I know sonoff have some design software you use to make grids on their panels. Also can you create an automation and timer on the panel that will run even when there is no internet?
This was the most detailed video I have found on these Tuya panels. But I still have a question about the display. Is it possible to turn that big clock off? I want a control panel that looks like a control panel, not a big clock
Great video. I have Alarmo set up in Home Assistant with the custom dashboard as the keypad. Would I be able to have the Keypad Dashboard on the smaller of these units?
As hub? That depends on your instalation, layout etc. Zigbee is a mesh network if you are thinking about the range only, you are not taking advantage of it
Is it possible to change led colors with the bigger one? Do you know any wired video door bell that would be able to ring on the screen just like in the video?
I have the smart panel L. It`s stuck on the boot screen (Hi. Wellcome to my world). I tryed to press de reset button, turn off and turn on the eletric source and nothing happens. Do you know how to solve it?
I suspect I already know the answer to this question. Neither of these Zigbee radios are compatible with the Sonoff Zigbee devices that we have grown to love in the SNZB-xxP line up? Like the button switches, the new presence and motion sensors?
You'll be able to add ZigBee devices from other brands, the problems might be only when it comes to custom features or settings. For example, Sonoff PIR I covered yesterday, will work, but I'm not sure if you can set custom settings for the timeout.
Just had to extend my iOT Tuya developer account for home assistant yet again. I will never forgive them for making me do this dance every 6 months. Edited to clarify: by iOT developer account I mean the iOT section in the developer account. The developer account itself always remains. It’s the project used by home assistant that gets shut down every 6 months.
Not for the devices enabled for local control. Plus built in ZigBee hub keeps the ZigBee devices operational even when your local network isn't working any more.
So much hate for tuya... Although I love Home Assistant and run my smart home on it, I love tuya devices too... They are really good for the price... I have rarely had issues with tuya devices. Also they are a big brand, most smart devices are powered by tuya framework even if it doesnt work with their app (e.g., Eufy, Wipro).
I think a lot of hate comes from a historical standpoint. Back in the day when these devices were new and cloud was unreliable, everyone asked for a home server. These things are solved now but people are not aware that It's actually trouble-free use.

What about a browser to view the HA ui?
I don't use HA, and the units are pre-release

You can already connect Alexa and Google home to any Panel with node Red (for example NS Panel Pro). Bit clunky but easily doable.

Looks like the L variant is made for North American electrical boxes (rectangular) and the S variant for European boxes (square).
Hi. The L variant can be use (by setting options) in horizontal view ? In Italy our wall boxes are compabile with American but they are horizontal.
Could be a nice way to have a keypad at the door for home alarm system.
Does the white panel support POE?
No i'm sorry.
Thx 😊
What about xiao mi app. What app can it download. Any playstore ?

No.. Youll need both

Linux OS, let's see what the community does with that, hopefully Home Assistant app. Be interersted to see if CCTV camera feed is acceptable.
