@@YSKhongDriving But someone says Toyota Hybrid system is the best in the world so what is the difference of Honda Hybrid ? Does it have the same or similar e-Cvt transmission inside ?
But really, the new insights(or should I say most Honda cars) took a lot of design queues from the 10th gen Civic, but this they decided to go for a more subtle tail because its an "gentle" Insight. Where as always, civic went for a very sporty and aggressive tail.
Generally, Malaysian must at least change perception towards hybrid, EV cars. They are good and clean, The govt also must support by giving more incentives towards EV, Hybrid vehicles and parts especially the batteries as a lot of local motorist are shy of these cars mainly about the lifespan and long term usage of these vehicles
Azlan Din We must learn to lean towards hybrids first. EV still not accessible to us, so far only Nissan LEAF (not cheap, 180k) is available here.. Not to mention affordable hybrid car also few models only on sale now-City, Jazz, Ioniq.. Manufacturers should start bringing in more hybrids, then slowly EV in maybe 2/3 years time.
The CR-V just got an face-lift in place like: United States, Thailand and more... I am exited to see a face-lift CR-V in Malaysia with a Hybrid i-mmd hope it comes
Hi, Uncle Khong. Did it still have the front and back jerking motion likely caused by the switching between hybrid and petrol in a hybrid car like Honda Freed and Fit Hybrids do? thanks!
It's amazing how far Honda's hybrid systems have come. Back then Honda's IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) was one of the worst-a so-called "hybrid" car, but all it did was auto start-stop and assist the engine with acceleration. No EV mode and was essentially useless, not to mention the extra weight of the batteries.
Is a good advance technology but weather it is suitable for Malaysia roads and Malaysian drivers, is yet to find out, cost of maintenance and reliability
Hello Sir... I'm still new to this kind of tech, or rather any tech... But is this City an AWD version like the CRV that you mentioned??? The electric motor powers all wheel???
Both are hybrid systems, and use an engine, a generator and a motor, so are similar in this sense, but how the I-mmd works is quite different. Intelligent Multi Mode Driving. Our video explains how it works. The big difference is that at high speeds only the engine works, and it starts off in electric mode. Most of the drive is on electric mode, with the engine helping
@@YSKhongDriving Is there a cap whereby at what high speed will it automatically turn into engine mode? Or rather a battery mode stays up until how many km/h?
Yes, it will. The system will sense the voltahe drop and will start the engine automatically to recharge. It won't wait till the battery is flat. This system is a new concept; using the motor to drive the car electrically and using the engine mostly to charge the battery. At high speeds only the engine is used.
Hi YS, Sorry for my out of topic question. Do you know where can I rebuilt or repair my BMW 125i abs pump? I suspect it's the motor. Too expensive for a new replacement especially for my 11 yr. car. Hope you can give me some lead.
The motor may be powerful, but the battery size makes all the difference. They are very tight-lipped about the battery's kWh capacity of this system, if it is indeed small, the engine will most likely be running most of the time, be it charging or powering the wheels. In actuality, the 'engine power' should cover most parts on the driving chart which was outlined at the start of the video, but they only included it when it is driving the wheels, and not when it's powering the batteries during urban driving, which is what most people who buy a hybrid will be doing. So, unless drivers adopt a more conservative driving style, I'm not sure that it will indeed be as efficient as they advertise. Also, I'm not so sure that constantly charging the battery through the engine and discharging it with the motor for long periods of time during urban driving is good for the battery's health. But this is Honda, so we shall give it the benefit of the doubt and wait and see.
Well, this new system seems more logical than the previous one, but like all mee things it will have to undergo the test of time. You are right... this is Honda, and they would have tested it thoroughly before releasing it, and its quite late in the game, so all the usual pitfalls can be avoided.
Nope.. totally different from Ioniq. i-MMD is more like a range-extender vehicle with a 1:1 transmission-engine clutch lockup at high speeds. Normal REEV has no connection between the engine and transmission. Ioniq is just a regular hybrid in which the engine and electric motor drivelines feed the same set of driven wheels but does not operate anything like the i-MMD at all
One thing i you guys noticed, just after 15kmh its either the engine kicks in or theres a pause where the e-motor goes from 3rd gear to 7th gear or something like that Can uncle unfold the truth on how i-DCD works?
Jason Han I’m getting 25km/l for highways while city drive at 22km/l on hybrid. Highway for hybrids still beat any conventional petrol by large margin.
@@raymunlim6097 I said very clearly. For drivers who always use highway, get a normal car. Even my Axia can reach your numbers by using the highway. Normal cars that have lower coefficient drag will beat your numbers anytime because they don't carry that extra weight.

Jason Han Ioniq has the one of world lowest drag coefficient cd 0.24 (merc a-class 0.22) with akitson engine at 40% thermal efficiency. Hi Uncle Khong, a CRV 1.5L engine at cruising speed will be under-powered on the highway.
Let's wait and see. The iMMD has 307 Nm torque potential.
Cruising only low power to maintain, once you need more torque to increase your speed, motor will kick in....no more vtec kickin
kinda heavy does hybrid does/doesn’t have power?
It has 253Nm of torque. On the hills because of the constant load, you may lose a little, but in the city is where you will love this immd system.
at what speed does the engine start to take over from the electric motor?
When the system battery rund low, or when the speed is high enough. The computer does it automatically, I think.
I don't think it has a normal AT,so supposedly whenever direct drive is possible, prolly kicks in at 90kmh
