The piano in GFRIEND’s “Summer Rain” imitates the melodies of German composer Robert Schumann’s “Dichterliebe” or “A Poet’s Love”, a modern take of this 1800s composition. You can still sense the feelings of longing and melancholy in both pieces, as nothing is lost in translation.
The lyrics of summer rain are poetry. That song makes me cry every time. I miss them so much :(

@@fifizappareacts , You can combine 'Glass Bead' with the advertising song 'Wave' (2016) (good song with very nice and cute MV).
In addition, there is a wonderful special MV 'Labyrinth' (2020) - this is just a masterpiece, it cannot be missed.
And split the Japanese tracks into pairs 'Me Gustas Tu' (Japanese version 2018) is almost three years younger than the Korean version, in addition to other sound, has a different video, and MV 'Memoria'. The second pair is 'Flower' and 'Fallin' Light' (Angel's Ladder).
Their music really differs from the common sound in kpop. This is what makes them unique and different from other groups. Thank you for reacting. I really want you to react to their Japanese releases because I swear you won't regret it. Their Korean and Japanese b-sides are top tier as well. The only korean MV left is GLASS BEAD and If you like you can add "WAVE" MV, it's a collab between GFriend and American Tourister (a brand of luggage owned by Samsonite). The song is purely the classic and nostalgic GFriend sound.

wave is actually a song that gfriend rebooted ! it was originally a boy group song , but i love how perfectly it fits gfriends pure innocence and powerful energy during their early days

the album for both these songs, "rainbow" is personally my favorite gfriend album! and definitely their most cohesive full work imo

Love Whisper is one of GFRIEND's most difficult choreo. So clean and even their hands are synchronized, its all about balance and foot work. I highly recommend the dance practice of it.

Fifi, thank you for appreciating Gfriend's sound. For years, Gfriend has been attacked with the narrative that their songs "all sound the same". As a Buddy it doesn't offend me anymore (I gotta admit that it offended me when I was fairly new bc other stans use it as a drag) because I now understand that Gfriend had established a unique sound. Having signature sound isn't a drag that many think it is but instead a proof that Gfriend had an impact that ppl automatically think of them when they hear something similar to Gfriend's sound.

I don't remember if you've done a first listen to the Walpurgis Night album, but I just know you would love Wheel of the Year. It's the last track on the album and I think it recaptures the early Gfriend sound, and relistens to it now is so bittersweet because it's like a send off to the fans who've been with them throughout their career. But you should give it a listen! I'm so keen on your thoughts :)

Oh my God, Summer Rain is a wronged anthem. Its melody is beautiful, contrasting with the melancholy of the MV and the girls. It's one of the best Korean songs.
i find it a pity that pre-hybe buddies are the only ones that love summer rain. the newer buddies that joined from mago , apple , crossroads etc , they prefer the more matured , witchy gfriend. in no way am i criticising the newer buddies , i just find it a solemn fact that they cant fully appreciate summer rain and love whisper and glass bead , the more innocent concepts

Fifi I can relate to you so so much cause my music tastes is quite the same as you, I'm not an expert in music but I LOVE when groups uses instrumental like gfriend does, kind of like orchestral and passionate melancholy concept which the girls are expert at. I'm a buddy since 2016 and of course, the reason I stanned them was because of their music. Glass bead, rough and navillera were to go my song when I was in school. The b-sides? Marvelous. Songs like white, compas, mermaid, sunshine *chefs kiss. Then when they released fingertip, I'm quite not fond of it but when love whisper and summer rain came out, I WENT CRAZY FOR EM LIKE I EVEN BOUGHT THE ALBUMS (never thought of buying kpop albums cause it's a waste to me) but gfriend made me do it. I remember stanning gfriend that era and we buddys have the hardest time defending the girls when these kpop stans keep saying gfriends songs sounds 'the same' when it's not. They really do judge without searching that gfriend had their own disinctive sound. Then when gfriend started to release melancholic songs like tftmn, sunrise and crossroads, I LOVE THEM EVEN MORE. B-sides? Idk how many times I repeated bye, flower garden, you are my star, only one, starry sky. LABYRINTH IS THE REVOLUTION. Please when I first listened to it I was hooked with eclipse, here we are and from me. Y'know when they joined hands with hybe, their music started to change like fifi, don't get me wrong I love it but..it's not hitting me like before. Sots and walpurgis weren't as strong as their songs 2020 to back. Then they disbanded. I really tried to find sounds like gfriend which I love but there's none. There's few who could pull off a little like Fromis_9 glass shoes, to heart and dkdk album. Other than them was Oh my girl with closer, windy day, secret garden and ssfwl maybe one step two step too. I think I could also include Lovelyz's song where I'm also addicted to like for you, destiny, candy jelly love, hi~. To add, whole Loona 1/3 discography cause I love this subunit so much I hope Loona could go back to this kind of music cause I miss it. Like fifi said, girl groups these days hv been doing sounds which is repetitive to me. They shifted a LOT from their og sounds to fit public's tastes. To companies, it's necessary to make their group more popular like doing girl crush concepts but I miss it a lot. If you're reading this thank you I just wanted to let out my frustation as a gg stan and only been listening to the same sounds and genre this days. Fifi I hope you could read this :'))
