Well said! I never faced caste issues until I left india to study. I grew up in a city so never really met a lot of desi punjabis that meet you and tend to be very curious about your caste. Worst they call minority caste people with their caste name in a demeaning tone. Feel really sorry for minority caste that have grown in Punjab with discrimination and are now equally part of unequality for otter castes (food, marriage) even though they all claim to be Sikh

So True. i have also seen Bhappa type Bhumra,s acting as they dont have to eat with others. Most of gthe punjabis in western countries are right from the village. They have never left punjab. They have not gone Bengalore, calcutta, etc. This is the reason they are so conservsative , bigoted, close minded. Hindus from small town are the worst .

Yaar pehla apne naam de piche sirf SINGH lgao, hor kuch nai. I refrained from using my surname publically the day I came to know that few people were beaten in a village because they were low caste and were trying to enter a gurudwara of high caste sikhs. Is there even a concept of high caste/low caste in Sikhism?

I am a self made man. Studied hard, working in an MNC. My caste contributed nothing and wont contribute anything in my success.

For such a beautiful Religion Sikhism brought forward by the Gurus especially Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
It's such a shame that in these modern times the Sikhs still practice this primitive belief of caste system especially those who call themselves Jats. They behave as if they fall from the sky, superior than others or they carry purple blood in them. Honestly these people who think there are superior are actually the lowest in the eyes of Almighty Waheguru. 🙏

People often ask me this question in Punjabi: "Tahdi jaat kee h?" and I always reply with this answer: "Singh." Then they look at me with a blank face and have no idea what to say after that.

Anupreet Kaur Should be Lali Anupreet Kaur. You are Khatri and Khatris are vashiya (Business class) in Varna system. Jatts are not part of the Varna and never considered a Pandit of any position to tell Jatts anything. We are a different race and culture that is why Jatts marry their daughter and son in Jatts only.

I agree with your points. I didn't knew about casteism in Sikhism I just heard about it from my dad. I hardly met any sikh and those who I met never asked my caste. I didn't went to Punjab before but when I did to meet my cousin (now he is in Canada even he is Neve coming back) suddenly everyone started asking about caste. Some even ask your caste before entering the temple. When I told him iam a rai sikh he assumed I must be joking Because him I didn't looked like an sc. He assumed all rai sikhs to be illeterate not well mannered so he just said are you joking right I smiled as I was confused and he letted me pass. I was confused as I didn't even knew it was a schedule caste as no one in my family ever used our caste to get reservation yet everyone is quite educated from good colleges. While returning back to delhi via road some asshole jatt even banged our car when I asked him in a sarcastic manner why he did it he replied because girls were in car and car was of Delhi and I know you are of lower caste. We got in a fight( not verbal one) in the end police came and made it stop. Luckily Punjab police is corrupt and my family was more financially prosperous than the other one so had to give a bribe so police would leave us. After that I never even thought of going back to Punjab iam fine in Delhi atleast I don't meet people who would ask my caste before doing anything

Jaat or jaati is based on skin tone or aryanness.
Upper castes like Mohyals, Jatts, Khatris,Kamboj, Aroras, etc look Indo Aryan or have more Eastern European genes in them whereas chamar ,chuhras,hans,etc are highly austro-asiatic and Dalits or Mazhabis are completely Austro-asiatic(Dravidian) .

Like Chitpawan brahmins, Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu, Saraswat Brahmins, look highly Indo-Aryan and Deshastha Brahmins, Lower Caste people, Marathas look highly austro-asiatic and Dalits are completely austro-asiatic this is the same in any Indian state.

Caste system can only be uplifted by lifting people through Education and good living. Everything stated in Gurbani, Bhagvat Geeta is just mere words which nobody will ever fully follow. I also believe it's a philosophy of early times.
Why there is less caste influence in city people? No one ask about my caste at my work or where I gym.
