Man, consistency is something I fight for on every level - creativity, (mental) health, family, etc. Been following you for a while and you're an inspiration. I set out to get 24 tracks done this year between 2 projects.....I got 12 recorded, mixed, mastered, and published. I think making $10k in the year as a solo musician is incredible, and your work ethic is NUTS! I know what goes into even just one youtube video, let alone making your own music and visual aids for those videos, then color grading, editing, all that. You are a machine. I think if you start marketing your cab IRs, settings, and samples as well as marketing your youtube channel you'll find that the really great brand you've built will enable your revenue to compound naturally, I'm sure you will but just do your homework as a lot of social media and search engine marketing can be a money pit if not executed well. Your music is absolutely sick as well, so that helps with your brand. Keep it up!

Bunn, thank you for sharing! I think you should consider bringing your projects all under a single “band name,” whatever you choose. David Bazan of Pedro the Lion (most famously) has recently been speaking out about what a huge mistake it was for *him* to release his music under so many different Brand Names over the past several decades. It disperses and confuses your audience in an unnecessary way. Whatever you do, I hope you keep making music and TH-cam content!
I know your goal is to keep the identity of your music separate from each other. I just thought: you could use a naming convention for each EP that’s something like this “WTLNDS II - Floral.”

I have no problems with traditional music models, I'm just not doing any of that. I'm building something completely different. It should all become more obvious as the catalog grows. This is inspiring. My 2023 is gonna be risky. I was asked to join a party/coverband, as bassist/guitarist, which consists mostly of playing medleys from songs everybody already knows, ranging from Backstreet Boys to Metallica. That's gonna be the cash cow. Currently setting up a brand with two good friends, one a designer, the other a photographer/branding guy. Also recording a bunch of artists and own material, mostly prepping to be able to consistently release across the board. I was also asked to become a teacher at a music school not far from here :)) I quit my job and got a festive departure and everyone was supportive of the choice. I am excited and it motivates me to see you achieve exactly that what I wish to do for the rest of my life. Lots of love and thank you for these videos. They will be of good use for reference.
10k in a year is actually pretty damn good for music (more than I’ve ever made)! For a living? If you are putting a fulltime effort into music this is not so great. It’s tough to earn a fulltime livable income from just music these days, but it IS possible. It just takes a few years of dedicated work like you are doing now! The hardest part with music is surviving while you build your brand and everything. I hope in 10 years when I’m almost 50 i will be able to have the stability in my health and life enough to create as i please to finally build the things i want and release the ideas I’ve held in for decades.

I'm stoked to see the progress man! I've been following all year! As for the question you posted in the end of your video, in 2023 I'll be following suit and diversifying my product catalog. I only have the one music project, but I am planning on opening up an asset store, and offering more custom services on top of product based things involving my music.
Man, every video you put out is a masterclass on staying true to your goals and positivity. One thing I did this year that proved to be a very good motivational push and a gratitude reminder was starting a crowdfunding system (much like Patreon, but since I'm in another global region, one that "works" with my countries currency). It sure made me create more. Also, rethinking how physical copies of my work could actually work was a great way to try giving something extra for the fans that wouldn't actually cost me an arm and a leg (but it will be implemented next year). Thank you for you music and your hard work. I'm glad one da the YT algorithm rightfully guess I'd like your videos.
I’ve got a shoegaze guitars super low bass and driving drums album coming out. My last failed to get an audience so I’m going to try putting songs out at regular intervals rather than “here’s an album”. I’m 46. I’m crazy.
Wow, this is great news, and what a positive upturn after the last video (end of studio, getting covid, etc). And Christmas is the time for taking stock, and your stock is looking good! Your focus and hard work is paying off. Inspiring. By contrast, I released 2 singles, made £200 (which I had already spent making the singles, so broke even) and made all of my money-for-living through teaching (with some gigging). I wish you all the best for 2023 and will be here checking your journey another year. :) I got myself a permanent job last february, my first ever at 37 years old. For the longest time it felt weird that my contract doesn't have a set expiration date. So, that's what's going on for me also in 2023. Luckily it's a job that matches my qualifications (truck driver) and I find it enjoyable still. Other than that I did some songs during 2022 but didn't release any until 31.12. A song that came through in a couple of days and I felt like I want to get it done and out before the year is over. 2023 will bring more music and hopefully releasing the ones that have been on my hard drive for 2 maybe 3 years finished. Crazy how time flies.

In 2022 I released an LP Autumn Plague - Twilight Of Our Times and just this weekend an EP "...As Michael Slayed The Demons". I've enjoyed watching your videos. Very inspiring, and best wishes for your continued success. My main goals for this year are personal ones relating to my health, strength, and mobility (spending as much time as possible backpacking and camping in cool places), but I definitely want to accomplish more musically this year than I have in the last few years. Step 1-make a plan.
Congrats on a great year, your progress is inspriring! I just released my first EP and even hitting double digits in streams is challenging haha! I'm gonna try to put out a couple of singles this year, to keep the time in between releases shorter and build up a back catalogue.

You have a unique and powerful sound where the string instruments really give the pleasing qualities of their timbre to the listeners ears, without being too over the top in any regard, making it enjoyable to listen to. I'm a music producer myself and I REALLY STRUGGLE WITH CONSISTENCY. Hearing you talk about momentum and the benefits that come with it "more music = more music dicovery, more music writing = easier to write more music." From my past experiences I can attest to that. Still it was great to hear this as a reminder. 2023 for me will be a conscious push to really get back at it and being consistent. I'm turning 39 soon but I don't think about anyone's age. We either do the thing or we don't.

Love what you're doing this year. I've gleaned a lot of tips from you over the years. One big one is to keep an EP as one DAW project, streamlining the production and mixing. Hopefully I'll be able to release an EP in 2023 with my kid going into 2nd grade I'll be able to find more time for music while he's at school!

This year is going to be about getting a major project (video game development) underway for me, I did most of the framework, big project document and then I got side tracked so I want to narrow down on it. Nice work man! You're proving the concept openly which is hugely inspiring and helpful to the rest of us out there, but it also looks like an absolute mountain of work for one person! I bet the administration on all those different revenue streams is a massive buzzkill too... My goal for 2023 is to actually release my first single. I have it in my head that it needs some sort of filmclip because... reasons? So I haven't released it yet at all, even though its ready. I have another two that are all but ready too, and another 2 that only need a little work to finish up, but compiling it into an EP just felt like too much pressure.

As for the question you posted in the end of your video, in 2023 I'll be following suit and diversifying my product catalog. I only have the one music project, but I am planning on opening up an asset store, and offering more custom services on top of product based things involving my music.

Man, every video you put out is a masterclass on staying true to your goals and positivity. One thing I did this year that proved to be a very good motivational push and a gratitude reminder was starting a crowdfunding system (much like Patreon, but since I'm in another global region, one that "works" with my countries currency). It sure made me create more. Also, rethinking how physical copies of my work could actually work was a great way to try giving something extra for the fans that wouldn't actually cost me an arm and a leg (but it will be implemented next year).

I’ve got a shoegaze guitars super low bass and driving drums album coming out. My last failed to get an audience so I’m going to try putting songs out at regular intervals rather than “here’s an album”. I’m 46. I’m crazy.
Wow, this is great news, and what a positive upturn after the last video (end of studio, getting covid, etc). And Christmas is the time for taking stock, and your stock is looking good! Your focus and hard work is paying off. Inspiring. By contrast, I released 2 singles, made £200 (which I had already spent making the singles, so broke even) and made all of my money-for-living through teaching (with some gigging). I got myself a permanent job last february, my first ever at 37 years old. For the longest time it felt weird that my contract doesn't have a set expiration date. So, that's what's going on for me also in 2023. Luckily it's a job that matches my qualifications (truck driver) and I find it enjoyable still.
Other than that I did some songs during 2022 but didn't release any until 31.12. A song that came through in a couple of days and I felt like I want to get it done and out before the year is over.
2023 will bring more music and hopefully releasing the ones that have been on my hard drive for 2 maybe 3 years finished. Crazy how time flies.

In 2022 I released an LP Autumn Plague - Twilight Of Our Times and just this weekend an EP "...As Michael Slayed The Demons". In 2023, I plan to concentrate on singles and hope to beat 2022's count of 14 songs.

I've enjoyed watching your videos. Very inspiring, and best wishes for your continued success. My main goals for this year are personal ones relating to my health, strength, and mobility (spending as much time as possible backpacking and camping in cool places), but I definitely want to accomplish more musically this year than I have in the last few years. Step 1-make a plan.
Congrats on a great year, your progress is inspriring! I just released my first EP and even hitting double digits in streams is challenging haha! I'm gonna try to put out a couple of singles this year, to keep the time in between releases shorter and build up a back catalogue.

So happy for you and thanks for all the research the results of which you've been giving us in these videos. Thank you also for the kickass music. You have a unique and powerful sound where the string instruments really give the pleasing qualities of their timbre to the listeners ears, without being too over the top in any regard, making it enjoyable to listen to. I'm a music producer myself and I REALLY STRUGGLE WITH CONSISTENCY. Hearing you talk about momentum and the benefits that come with it "more music = more music dicovery, more music writing = easier to write more music." From my past experiences I can attest to that. Still it was great to hear this as a reminder. 2023 for me will be a conscious push to really get back at it and being consistent. I'm turning 39 soon but I don't think about anyone's age. We either do the thing or we don't.

Love what you're doing this year. I've gleaned a lot of tips from you over the years. One big one is to keep an EP as one DAW project, streamlining the production and mixing.
Hopefully I'll be able to release an EP in 2023 with my kid going into 2nd grade I'll be able to find more time for music while he's at school!
It’s great to see your getting some traction . Glad I’m not the only one making this attempt. I’m going the Background music for creators route. I’m also over 50 with pretty severe ADHD. It helps in the production part but can be very challenging during the practice/writing part.

man this is a crazy video i never thought I'd watch. I'd probably do it, I've lived on less and with hard work. music is hard work but it's less work when you love it. respect man. you rock. if you fix stuff and grow some food and if it's not too many hours (it most likely is) by combining them you'd be able to eek it out.... sort of... happy new year.
Pretty cool wrap up man, that is a solid effort across the board and despite set backs you are rocking ahead. Admire your work and with any luck I can learn a thing or two. This year is going to be about getting a major project (video game development) underway for me, I did most of the framework, big project document and then I got side tracked so I want to narrow down on it. Thats why your videos, music and just approach in general are things i look forward to. Really give me a push. Can't wait for the new foreigns stuff, really really dig it over the other projects. Nice work man! You're proving the concept openly which is hugely inspiring and helpful to the rest of us out there, but it also looks like an absolute mountain of work for one person! I bet the administration on all those different revenue streams is a massive buzzkill too...
My goal for 2023 is to actually release my first single. I have it in my head that it needs some sort of filmclip because... reasons? So I haven't released it yet at all, even though its ready. I have another two that are all but ready too, and another 2 that only need a little work to finish up, but compiling it into an EP just felt like too much pressure.
