Regarding the language fears, when I was in Paris I learned to greet a person in the little French I knew, then apologize for my horrible French and asked if they could speak English. Almost always they would switch to English without an attitude because they were grateful that I tried and admitted my language deficiencies. You're correct that the French can be very difficult sometimes, but a humble attitude about my shortcomings, an apology, and asking for their "forgiveness" almost always worked and made my experience much more pleasurable! Very excited for you!!
Since you'll be there for a month, take a tour of Europe! It's relatively affordable when you're already in a European country! Would love to see that content 😊
