Good evening sir...I thank you for this lecture... however sir I have a small question: since the business received a discount from Tunde I was thinking that d discount will be captured as a debit entry in d discount account of d business and as a credit entry in tundes account ?
Pls my question is since the cash book serves as a journal and a ledger , and in a question like this having cash and bank transaction can you prepare a double column cash book so it covers most of the transaction as we open individual ledgers for other part of the transaction affected by ban or cash?
I suggest next time you emphasise on the fact that every transaction affects AT LEAST TWO accounts since it could affect more than two accounts. An example is where an entity purchases a non- current asset say, Motor Vehicle, pays half instantly and decides to settle the rest at a later date. Such a transaction would affect THREE ACCOUNTS: The Motor Vehicle Account, The Cash Account, and The Creditor's Account. Thank you!

For the discount account. Why is it not debit and Tunde account credit. Because Tunde gave 120 cedis discount ie he is giving. And the Discount account is receiving. Hope you will reply.

With the transaction of June 14th I thought you said you only open a personal account when its a credit transaction but it wasn't

I was taught the simplest way using some acronyms; SRCI is for credit and PADER is for debit.
