Same she's into the heavy, grungy, stoner stuff but also appreciates Heart and all the other classics. Like we go from Meshuggah to TON to Gary Numan it's pretty insane when you think about it
Second video in a row from you I've watched with great bass chugging, this is awesome. Just started learning bass a month ago and I am scoping your technique hard, you are so good :D
So excellent. Some people are talking about how good you sound even without a pick. You just prove that tone is in the fingers. And I love the hair flip with your left hand without missing a beat with your right on the open E at 3:20. It's like a drummer twirling their sticks. I wish I had the hair to do that. 😄
I agree to a great extent. The only thing I would like to point out - as it was also pointed out to me by the pros I took lessons from and my ear conformed - is that despite finger technique (angle, tension, choice of finger, hand position in relation to the neck, 'standard' plucking or thumb style, etc.) getting you very far and quite possibly as far as you need to be, there is no denying that using a pick enables you to get certain sounds with less effort and opens up more avenues to extremer sounds. In short: I would like to point out that the use of a pick is a personal choice and may vary per song, and nobody needs to be ashamed for using it all the time or never using it at all. You will probably agree with this, but I hope any beginner who happens to read this feels supported in making their own choice regarding picks and not be disparaged either way. In the end, it is all about the joy of playing our instrument, and whichever way you get that is fine 🙂
Great job...on this awesome tune.. I play guitar...when this tune came out...had to learn it...guitars kick butt...whole band is great..worked with their manager...cool dude.
@ConstantineIsslamow Thank you so much! Crazy to see a bass guitar TH-cam OG around here! I used to watch you, Rob/zodiakironfist and PookLowEnd a lot early into my bass playing journey
i've seen so many bass versions of this song... finally, someone, you! put it in a perspective i can follow. also, right on tabs! i'll never understand why the bass in this song (like so many others from that era) got buried in the original. actually i know the technical reason, but still. great playing here, sister! and thank you.
Great work Nicolle! Such a fun and bouncy tune with all the gallops. Also, nice new profile picture. Did you draw it yourself? I was wondering if I could please make 2 suggestions? Would you be able to cover "Poptones" by Public Image Limited and "Jigsaw Feeling" by Siouxsie And The Banshees? Both Post-Punk songs have fantastic Bass lines. Cheers, and all the best!
I'm not sure if it was ever sold overseas and it had a very limited run here in Brazil. It's a pretty rare instrument to find. It was initially called PX-4 and was Celso Pixinga's signature bass, then it was rebranded to JMJ-4 and no longer was a signature instrument and then it was discontinued altogether - all in the span of two years.
Literally Half of your videos are my favorite songs!

Usually we see people use a pick on this song. But your fingers set that bass on fire!!! Sounds awesome. Great job.
