Levels of Organization

  • When building a city you start with bricks. Many bricks joined together make walls. Walls working together make a building. Many buildings make a city.
    The human body is put together in a similar way.
    Humans start with cells. Many cells joined together make tissue. Tissue working together make an organ. Many organs make an organ system.
    Cells are the smallest living part of an organism. Some examples of cells in the human body are brain cells, lung cells and bone cells.
    When cells of similar structure and function join together they form tissue. A group of brain cells is called brain tissue. A group of lung cells is called lung tissue. Bone cells joined together is called bone tissue.
    When a group tissues that perform a specific function join together they form organs. Brain tissue comes together to make your brain. Your brain is an organ. Lung tissue comes together to make your lungs. Bone tissue comes together to make individual bones.
    An organ system is a collection of organs working together to perform a specific job. Your brain is apart of the nervous system. Your brain, spinal cord and nerves work together to collect and process information. Your lungs are apart of the respiratory system along with the larynx, diaphragm and others help you breath. All of the bones in your body are apart of the skeletal system. Bones, cartilage, ligaments and tendons give your body structure and support.
    From smallest to largest the parts of your body are cell, tissues organs and then organ systems.

  • @Saul1T

    I appreciate the video and I am looking for one for my class of 11 year olds, but this video is inaccurate. The tissues that group together to make organs are different tissues made of different cells. The heart for example has mostly muscle tissue and connective tissue which should appear to be different cells. The video seems to represent that identical tissue joins to make an organ when in actual fact it joins together just to make more tissue. I liked the graphics and the explanation otherwise so I would appreciate a revised version if you have the time or inclination.

      +Saul Tanakh Bruh it's just supposed to give the example of how this crap works. That's a little more advanced and is supposed to be learned once you've got all the tissue,organ, and organ system stuff down.

    • @Saul1T
      @Saul1T 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agent9724 There is a fine line between a generalisation to make things simpler for kids and simply teaching them something that is wrong. This is an instance of the latter. The problem is it will lead to misconceptions later on. Unfortunately your argument is the same used by primary school teachers when they teach that weight is measured in grams and kilograms. It gives children a misconception that takes a significant amount of effort to get rid of and regularly results in poor understanding of mass and worse grades in standardised assessments.

    • @diego032912
      @diego032912 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Saul Tanakh Ahh ok then thanks for the clarification. Although here in the United States we learn the grams and kilograms are a measure of mass not weight at least they clarify that (or it could just be the state's curriculum that I live in) but it's different for my parents because they weren't born and raised in the U.S. so they always consider grams and kilograms as "weight." Well we have pounds over here which is an actual system of weight so yeah.

    Love your videos, but thinking this one needs a change: an organ is not just more tissue (shown by more layers of cells in your video), but different types of tissue working together. Like a bone is made of bone tissue, nerve tissue, and blood tissue.

    • @lisacamponeschi8276
      @lisacamponeschi8276 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. I saw this video and thought it was so easy to understand and clear; however, it is slightly inacccurate. I'd love to see a revised version showing an organ made of different tissue working together to carry out the function of the organ. If this included that, I'd have some very happy 8th graders for years to come!

    Do you need three main points for this to tell your elementary school that's somehow connected to your highschool? You don't?!
    Here:
    1. Cells are the smallest living part in an organism, like the cells in our brain, lungs, and bones.
    2. When cells group with one another, that's how tissues are formed
    3. From smallest to biggest, the human body is made up of s, tissues, organs, and then organ systems.
    Extra:
    Organ systems- are groups of organs that work together to maintain homeostasis in an organism.
    Ex__ The respiratory system is an organ system
    Organism- is a single living thing
    Ex__ a cat is an organism
    Organism- are groups of tissues that preform a specific function.
    Ex__ The heart is an organ
