Can we talk about how this attempted ambush transpired with two black hosts present? While it's not their job to defend or protect Coates, it's absolutely their job to ensure balance and fairness. I'll give Nate a soft pass because he's the junior cast member. But Gayle is the senior one and actively attempted to interrupt Coates' legitimately stated argument. (And hats off to Coates for interrupting HER, in turn, and proceeding with his point!)

I was looking to see the discussion of Coates book and it got hijacked over one section due to Tony Dokoupil and his political leanings. He has a right to his beliefs, but it was a set up from the beginning with the two Black hosts, King and Burleson set off to the side like lawn jockeys for a display: Well, we had two Black people up there too! That was more for optics than anything. It’s inexcusable! It was a such a supremacist display of power over a book that was dealing with Coates travels and experience of the world that CBS itself should be ashamed. Dokoupil basically accused Coates of producing work that if stripped down of his credentials would place him as a terrorist. Such a calculated but poor choice of words. As much as has happened to Black folks in this country there would be no justification for us wanting the genocide of White people. That would taint our own. You don’t want that on your conscience or riding your children’s conscience. Karma is a ... And at the end Dokoupil had the nerve to tell him you’re still invited to the high holidays i.e. you’re still a good boy as if he were a dog. This was too much playing in Black folks’ face!

The ambush is not the issue, but the continued framing by the media to paint anyone who criticizes the Israeli government as anti-Semitic. South Africa and Bosnia and Herzegovina had the world giving sanctions for their apartheid and ethnic cleansing behavior. Israel does have the right to defend itself, but it appears to be defending itself to ethnically cleansing an entire population of people who feel voiceless.

Israel doesn't have the right to defend itself as the aggressor according to international law. South Africa didn't have the right under the same law. Any nation that practices genocide doesn't have that right.
      Genocide is illegal:
The Genocide Convention explicitly prohibits genocide, classifying it as a crime against humanity, meaning no state can claim the right to commit it under any circumstances.

For some reason, everyone is saying his name wrong, and it makes me flinch everytime. And its not just assholes being assholes.
I had to watch clips of Jon Stewart and Chris Hayes interviewing him to confirm I wasn't crazy.
Oh and screw the CBS hack, I don't even want to know its name

I wish Ta-Nehisi criticized all the European governments and said, “You idiots were supporting Antisemitism and Anti-Jewish Sentiment for the past approximate 2,000 years. The Muslims helped out the Jewish people more than you all ever did.” I’m saying that as an unapologetic Mixed Colombian American Muslim. Ta-Nehisi as a right to feel disgusted and upset that our funds are hurting innocent people. It’s like telling a Native American, oh no bro, don’t worry we’re just going to take your land to harm innocent people. Ta-Nehisi Coats has the absolute right under the first amendment to speak his mind, especially if it’s in positive way.

There are and there have been people with access to microphones that have and still are speaking out on behalf of Palestinians. The issue is the heavily-funded media in the Global North argues their voices down or outright refuses to speak to them. Check out Zoteo, Middle East Eye, Al Jazeera, Dr. Suleiman of Yaqueen Institute, Dr. Haifaa Younis, Baasem Youssef, Owen Jones, Breaking Points, Prime Minister of Barbados, Malaysian Prime Ministers and many others around the world have are addressing their voices along with who I consider the most important on this non-comprehensive list, Bisan Owda, a young journalist in Palestine showing the atrocities of the war as well as the countless journalists that targeted and killed within the last year in Palestine and now Lebanon. I beseech thee to bring these people on to talk to them and have a conversation with them.

I think that, first, his name isn't Ta-NaHAsi. I think that it's supposed to be pronounced Ta-Ne HEsi. It's spelled Ta-Nehisi. Please just first, pronounce his name correctly. Next, the "Tony guy" was absolutely biased, off base and RUDE. But as we all saw, his inane rantings are a reflection of who HE is, not who he tried (in vain) to belittle.

Tony didn't want to give him credit for the research that he did and witness with his own eyes. This entrapment was epic failure expect for that fact Coates will get book sales. I stop watching the show a long time ago. I Nate but I don't care for Gayle or Tony.
