Total legend. I met him one night. It was my Birthday and we were hitting the clubs in Brighton where I then lived. We had a shot and chatted. He was super lovely. Sometimes you can meet your heroes and they don't disappoint.
That scene in Philomena, her grappling for oceans of meaning in the small drops of Martin’s meeting with her son, is achingly heartbreaking and hilarious at the same time. True genius writing and performance.,

Coogan will be remembered as an overlooked gem whose talent and ability was not made use of anywhere often enough. Steve and his characters formed a backdrop of escapism in my life that I'll always be grateful for.
Duno about overlooked, he worked with the monty pythin team in a live action remake of wind in the willows, has been in tropic of thunder opposite downey junior and ben stiller, hes been in curb your enthusiasm with larry david co creator of one of the biggest sitcoms of all time and hes done his own version of the trip for american audiences, oh yeah and he dated courtney love of all people, wheres he been overlooked exactly?
That's one way of looking at it. Another way of looking at it is that he's one of the best comedy characters created, and with Alan as a character and Steve as an actor, have received the best recognition possible from his peers.
If I was Steve Coogan I would be extremely proud of Alan, when ever I'm in a good or bad mood Alan Partridge is my go too comedy, ground breaking in its day and exciting to still see he is still playing the character, he shouldn't see it as an albatross, more of a pleasure to continue making millions laugh out load...lol

Yeah, I once joked with my brother about political fundraisers going to the swankiest parts of Hollywood and saying you need to fundraise for a PAC to deal with sexism and racism. "Oh yes?" the chequebook would begin to open. "...And we want more egalitarianism" "What???" And the chequebook would swing shut :-D I'm not saying that sexism and racism are nice, it's just that I think it's a way for rich people to dodge the real issue in this world.
Getting rid of canned laughter was a godsend for Steve Coogan and Alan Partridge. It allowed the character to get a lot more subtle and quick, and it's telling that in this video the Mid Morning Matters clip is the most replayed. Imagine that clip with canned laughter, none of the jokes would work, they'd be cut out to make space for the cheesy laugh track. Like Coogan says, it's tight, rehearsed, very intricate.

The curator was hilarious. Partridge is the best, every iteration, from sports to chat, incredible. Spot on about flogging dead horses, reality shows and soaps for me being the most horrible and tedious example.....oh and bloody quiz shows. Great stuff Steve, you are a national treasure!
SC could afford to take some more tragic roles. I love his comic characters, but Philomena is wonderful. Most of the secondary characters in Partridge are also rather tragic. Especially Lynn and Simon. Was so happy to see Lynn returning on "This Time"
I love Alan Partridge's book, audio book on here, Nomad. It's hilarious from begining to end, all 6 hours of it, I've lsitened to it 3 times over the years and it just gets funnier. His other books are good as well. I love Steve Coggan for making me laugh so often!
When Steve brought out his first book We need to talk about Alan, I went to see him do the book release in London, he read a few pages from the first chapter and my stomach still hurts from the laughter to this day. We all just wasn't expecting it to of been that funny right out of the bag and off the first page. Both his books are the funniest reads on the planet in my opinion. Honestly his face as he was reading it was so partridge I truly believed he was real for a second, he was so serious haha. Pure genius
There's a level of seriousness that comes across Coogan's face when he revisits the Partridge reels as though he believes it's true thespian technique and he's not wrong.

A very close relation to me is very much like Alan in most ways, I happen to be his son. Thanks for creating this character as is allows me to cope with him on a daily basis, especially as we work together and travel together around selling machinery.
