I feel like the feminine features of Giger's Xeno would have worked really well with the monastery story in the earlier draft. A planet full of sexually repressed monks are suddenly confronted by a monstrous yet strangely sexual monster. Could have also made a nice parallel to the effect Ripley would have had on these monks as well.
Giger knew best. The weird, creepy intelligent Xeno will always be my xeno. It's what makes them scary. As soon as the xenos became animals they lost their terror. Keeping them ominous and unpredictable is what makes them so frightening. I want them to bring back this aspect in the movies
FINALLY someone who gets it. Thanks. Aliens is a good film, but James Cameron ruined Xenomorphs in my opinion. Turned a lovecraftian horror into a bunch of ants
@@sporovid5856 Exactly!!! I'm glad there are Alien fans who understand this .... Cameron with his Alien$ has destroyed this mysterious, miraculous... Magnificent ... figure of the Alien.
Agreed - the original Alien clearly had intelligence, toying with its prey because... well, because we just didn't know/couldn't understand why bc it was so alien. I can get down with the idea of drones in a hive being more drone-like, but it does make them less frightening.
I disagree on this. The aliens in Aliens were definitely an insect like creature, but they’re also highly intelligent and outsmarted and outmanoeuvred the humans repeatedly through the film. Really, in many ways they’re more an analogy for communism and the lack of care for the lives of the individuals, coupled with a dreadful and totally amoral cruelty.
I agree that the legs for the first design looked goofy that why they only showed the upper part. But apart from that it was perfection. Sometimes artists need someone who gives them feedback or tells them when they go to far. Communication through music is a stupid idea. This design here would be okay as a variation but should not replace the original.
This is such a unique and fascinating design but still using elements of his original alien. The tongue, barbed spear kiss sequence would have been super creepy. Also, hearing it play sounds from its body makes me think of a rattlesnake. Gives me shivers!
This Horrifying and incredibly unique xenomorph design is really awesome! with the barbed spear tongue with backwards facing spikes, swords coming through the knuckles or fingers and also the feet like the wolverine, and X23 as you mentioned, saw blade shoulders, and a second set of skin That can make sounds like a bizarre instrument. Also having a creepy unsettling finger brain is terrifying! It would be really cool if they used H.R. Giger’s concepts of the dog alien for a new and sadistic xenomorph species, that would be incredible if they did that, and executed it right.
Giger had a good understanding of what makes something unique. The lips would be interesting if done in a subtle way,, and the body making music sounds great. I imagine it making eerie sounds, or maybe try to make soothing sounds, like a mermaid, making the victims curious to check it out
In Alien novel "Into Charybdis" there is Xeno looking like it. It's exciting moment for Alien universe's fan, when you realize that Alex White is describing Giger's concept.
I was lucky enough to see Gigers model in Berlin last week. It is currently on display in the "Schinkel Pavillon",with some of his other works until the 16th of January.
While the musical element seems strange I can imagine incorporated in some way. Like the form of the body creating a sound like a howling wind in a breeze or when it runs. A sound you hear off screen and gets louder as it approches. Or even icorporated into an environment like the space jockey's ships or architecture with the organic hallways creating a strange form of music
Giger felt manipulated and misled by David Fincher. He says Fincher wasn't straightforward with him, he made Giger think he was the lead designer of the creature.
There’s a cool sketch of the dog alien that H R Giger made were the alien had a more animalistic appearance like the rottweiler Dog host in burst out of with a longer mouth with canine dentition and was baring it’s teeth, and the gums were pulled more forward and extended kinda like when a shark feeds, or attempts to bite a prey item. The look of it’s mouth, teeth, and gum pulled forward really made it look extremely fierce and terrifying. Also the sketches that were drawn next to the mouth drawings had the dog aliens full body. Showing it’s dexterity, agility, speed, and ambushing attacks, like a puma it looked fast, highly lethal, and also elegant.
This seems also more like a female counterpart to the Big Chap's masculine features. With the original idea of the monks, you could tell that the sexual violence of the alien was used to even greater and apparent effect.
@@AxisChurchDevotee It was going to be a succubus in a way, from both the temptation of seeing Ripley, and the alien being a seduction that would ultimately kill them, there were even going to be lips on the design with a different pharyngeal jaw that stabbed them through their heads during a kiss, and it would also respond to music. He certainly had some wild ideas for this one.
@ Makes me wonder what the lore behind it would have been if fully fleshed out. What niche did it have other variants couldn't do? Drones warriors and runners are already highly lethal killers so why use a succubus style variant? Expanded universe stuff like crushers and spitters all have a clear niche but what would this one have done ro justify it's existence?
@@AxisChurchDevotee Here's the thing: the original Alien life cycle had no other classes, Big Chap was it, and I find it much more creepy and...ALIEN. He was acting of his own volition to not only reproduce, but derive pleasure in the fear it caused those 8 passengers, possibly sexual pleasure. He is an embodiment of man's antithesis, taking what is good about us and inverting it. The female equivalent would have been the completion of that binary of inverting man, and especially deriving a lot of pleasure from not only killing men, but chaste men. The symbolism of the first movie, and the third to an extent is incredibly dark, even from the genesis, Dan O'Bannon said in regard to how the Alien gets on board, "It fucks one of the crew to death."
The spear tongue concept with the monk by Geiger is fucn twisted and sick. Would it stab through the head completely or just go in and pull inside out ? How would it even get its prey in that situation ? What if the holes in the Runners chest were made for more than just to show it’s emotion or express itself but instead for mimicking sounds of other animals or the environment. Maybe the voice of another human when it’s tracking one down. Whenever it’s victim makes eye contact maybe the frontal lobe/enlarged head area would glow or be even more transparently visible and the victim would be influenced by the Runners ability. Maybe stunned, in a trance or maybe the finger brain waves are strong enough to lure its victims right to the Runner ready for a big wet kiss. I imagine it more like a seduction sort of trance/trickery, rather than a possession. Spear tonguing its victim in a kiss is so Geiger and fucked up, would’ve been crazy shocking to see something like that in one of these movies.
This sure is one very nice video about the scripted Alien Dog Runner, and though Giger made a very weird alien, and he still is one very awesome dude. Also I wish y'all a Greta day,and RIP HR Giger
Would have been a good return to form. Hell, with three very different aliens, you could easily day part of what makes it the "perfect organism" is that every generation is evolved uniquely.

Wow. I was always a little disappointed by Alien 3, compared to the first two. I am super glad they did not use Geiger's version. Human-like? Tongue? Music? FEELINGS? No thanks.
I prefer it over ADI's runner. That's not to say their runner is bad, I just prefer something new and different. In my opinion, ADI's Runner suited Fincher's dark, dystopian mining planet. Giger's runner's would have worked for Vincent Ward's Alien 3 in terms of environment, such as the wooden planet. Ward's wooden planet had trees, and fields, like corn or grain fields. Imagine this creature teasing its pray through music or hissing inside a long, grain field. Another working environment would be a jungle like planet since it's like a lion/Puma. So, if Disney wanted to incorporate Giger's runner via comic or film, they would need to set the story on a jungle planet.
