My read on the urban redevelopment plan is that the plan IS the Lumiose City we are familiar with, and so the game takes place before that.
The redevelopment of Lumiose city? Huh sounds like they are basing this around the time of the redevelopment of Paris wich is what Lumiose city and kalos is based on.
Btw the redevelopment of Paris happened in the 1850's.
Haussmann's renovation of Paris was a vast public works programme commissioned by French Emperor Napoleon III and directed by his prefect of the Seine, Georges-Eugène Haussmann, between 1853 and 1870.
This is around the same time Japan started their research and development of Hokkaido wich means this is around the same time as Legends Arceus time Era wich is the 1850's to 1880's.

As for the Pokemon-timeline, I could also see them tie this into the story of the first Mega-Evolution between trainer and Pokemon that we hear of in Shalour City, it feels like that could've believably went down 160 years before the events of XY.

@@DengekiVR Nah, this is the best time for them to give them to us. A fully functioning AZ’s Floette was in the 3DS games and Pokemon home for the longest time. They better hand them over.
Would be interesting if we actually got AZs Floette through this, because it'd basically have to be a deal like "oh it's joining up with you temporarily", because we know later on in present day Kalos, it's going to reunite with AZ... so the question will also be, would they lock AZs Floette to Legends Z-A in that case? Or treat us transfering it to Pokemon Home as non-canon?

This is so exciting! I can't believe Kalos will be 12 years old once Z-A releases, that's insane.
The fact that it's releasing in 2025 tells me gamefreak is finally being given time to develop it (which also hopefully will carry to future games)! We know gamefreak can do great stuff when given the proper time to so do, let gamefreak cook!
Nope has nothing to do with the Switch 2 delay into early 2025 and ZA being a launch title or anything.
It’s Z-A which meaning future and past, so we are time traveling. You can also tell because the design within the letter z is futuristic and a is earthy plant like so it’s gotta be the past

The trailer seemed to switch from this old paper and parchment asthetic to a futuristic one and back, and also like you said A is the first letter of the alphabet so the past (and maybe also A for Legends Arceus which took place in the past) and finally Z which is for Zygarde and the last letter of the alphabet so maybe the future. Also i would like to point out that there is a character in XY that was responsible for the creation of the mega cannon, AZ the title of the game backwards, for some reason i feel like regression may play a part in this game, de evolution anyone?

I had some experience with Motion Capture for vid games and gotta say new Pokemons have such fluid and cool animations and movement choreography. It's such a funny, small detail you wouldn't necessarily expect in a title like this and such a big step from these GameBoy games. Ps. You almost saw me as Leon in these new Resident Evil games :)
super excited to see a Diance, Volcanion, and Hoopa get their own mini-stories/events in Pokemon Z that you can actually catch in-game like Manaphy, Darkrai, and Shaymin did in Legends Arceus as mythicals.
I'm not actually sure it's futuristic. The vibe I got was less Sci-fi and more Architect Program like CADD oe similar.
I think the setting is going to be the planning and building of modern Lumiose City.
I have a theory that the "A" in Z-A is a reference to the XYZ episode when Zygarde goes crazy and covers the Prism Tower in tree roots; hence why the A is green, looks like the Prism Tower, and seems to have a plant motif.
Which lends to my next theory: Z-A stands for "Zygarde Awakened," and I'm guessing, like in the show, it's connected to collecting all the Mega Stones.

@dave_the_slick8584 Since it's been confirmed it takes place completely in Lumiose city, perhaps a small town exists there now, and we are building outwards into the wilds?

It’s most likely Pokémon AZ (as in the AZ you see in Pokémon XY) legends meaning it will be a past rendition of lumiose city, and the development plan is turning it into what it was in Pokémon X and Y. This probably means we’ll finally see the Pokémon war play out and the ultimate weapon being built the first time around if I remember the lore around Pokemon X and Y correctly.
The war was 3000 years before X and Y, and Legends ZA seems to be set pretty close to the original games. I’m not sure how much more we could delve into the history of the Great War, though AZ is sure to appear, so that exposition will probably come from him.
So i think this pokemon game is gonna be before lumiose city is fully built. We're gonna use the lumiose base as a central hub and then go out in the different directions

Kanto and Hoenn starters have them, so I fully expect the other regions, especially Kalos to have them now.

judging by lumious city redevelopment plan and the fact most of the z-a trailer looked to be in cyberspace, makes me wonder if this pokemon legends is going to be based in sci-fi. that would be really weird because of the name but that's the vibe i'm getting from it
I think that it’s gonna take play around the time of the other legends game. (Legends arceus took place in 1868) and Paris underwent a lot of development around that time.
I never got to experience Kalos or Gen 6 at all, as I never had a 3DS. So I’m exited to experience gen 6 in one way!

That title is so intriguing as well; I don’t know the chronology of the game. It seems like it will take place in the future of Kalos though, I think. Thank you so much for your video!
You know was interesting, expecting a Legends Gen 5 made no sense and expecting a gen 6 Legends makes perfect sense, because the player character in Legends Arceus is wearing the first bit of player customizable clothing in the franchise, tells me Legends Z-A was in the works a bit longer then we may expect.
It's important to remember that it was stated in X and Y multiple times that Kalos has a special relationship with Unova. Unova remakes that relate heavily to these games within the next few years maybe???

I think Pokémon has been back since Pokémon Day 2021 when they announced Legends Arceus. Everything developed thereafter (excluding Scarlet and Violet which was already in development before PLA) should be an extension of that because of how well-received it was.
And ofc Verlisfiy is already hating on the game. Verlisify is an absolute clown show. Always defending Gamefreak at their lowest and hating on them when they actually innovate for once
It’s not in the future it’s actually just blueprints because the thing it’s based on has been around for over 800 years
That's why it's called Pokemon Legends Z-A because its usually takes place before the original game comes up. The holographic presentation is just a blueprint for redeveloping the urbanize Lumiose City. The key words here we know it's before XY is the "A Vision of beautiful coexistence between people and Pokemon..." means that there are still conflict with the relationship if pokemon and humans. Modern eras are now getting along with pokemon but here it's to coexist. Also not a coincidence that they choose Kalos after Paldea because Paldea is a representation of Spain so it's near France which Kalos is based on. Not gonna be surprised if they mentioned Paldea and Galar (representation of UK) because they were in war before.

It will be the story of hiw modern day lumiose came to be set in the past directly after the war.

It wouldn’t be unexpected. Zygarde is the main legendary and Megas are the returning gimmick so Mega Zygarde is pretty much a lock.

Pokémon has been far too easy and not enough of an RPG for me these days. There's some indie games and romhacks that took the things from Pokémon that I liked and added more to them. I haven't enjoyed a Pokémon game since black and white 2.

As for the plot, is it based around the war, or does it start in the aftermath of it? Do we see the growth of Kalos after the war, or do we help AZ make the weapon to end the war? Based around the Z aesthetic, do we help Zygarde maintain the balance of life and death after the weapon nuked the entire army, or are we at odds against Zygarde? So many questions lmao
