One of my favorite moves from King II's moveset. Never pulled off myself (and looking at the commands for this move, *yeah* IDK when I could pull this off without hours of labbing), but I saw how much damage that move takes with King just rolling his opponent to the ground constantly and it was love at first sight!
I remember practicing this for hours! I still remember the first time I pulled this off against a friend in a real match of TTT. What a great feeling! I also tried to get it as Mokujin and/or Unknown in a real match, but no such luck.
Yeah for King I'm not the biggest fan of that as I preferred the harder button inputs which felt satisfying to pull off his grab chains. Now for quite a few of them you press the same button over and over until the combo's done so just doesn't feel as good. Understandable their damage got nerfed too for some of them since they're so easy now.
@@TheAlmightyDaleI think thats why they made it easier. They wanted to nerf the damage, but they cant just nerf the damage and make it hard to input. So they made it easy and “weaker”
An iconic move and an original contribution to the genre. At least i dont know if VF has this chain grab mechanic and if it was done first. But im sure that no 2d fg had it before... And even so the chains have less steps.
I know your channel is focused on comparison/evolution of punctual elements like this one or this character... But have you thought of compiling notable command grabs in 2d and 3d fg history? Maybe it would need to have a limit rule of entries per character, or per franchise, etc... I dont know.

Ah yes the evolution of the unskippable cutscene. I love how like manga panel worthy the GBA one is. I remember doing that by sheer luck as a kid.

Kinda weird how oversimplified the command is in 8 now
A lot of command throws got simplified in T8. Yoshimitsu's Rainbow Drop input is now u/f1+2 instead of qcb1+2, for example.
