About
Hello! I'm Christine Choi, also known as mokunachoi on social! I'm a 3D Character artist that creates stylized characters for VRChat, Vtubing, and 3D models for 3D printing! I post a lot of my process through here on TH-cam, Tiktok, and Twitter!
Came out great! looking forward to the second part, been following the process on X
Thanks! I appriciate the support! ^_^ Working on editing! Will be posting every Monday!
Thanks for sharing your process :>. I hope you get a million subs before the year ends. I will share your stuff to everyone that I know that'll need it.
That is so kind! That you so much I appriciate the support!😭💕
amazing ! i hope one day we can get a tutorial on how you make the body parts cause they look fascinating
Thank you! Sure! I can add that to my tutorial list 👍

@mokunachoi thank you so much ! also i have a question , how did you know how to model characters so well ? i have looked everywhere in youtube and didnt find any good tutorials that can provide me with much help , is there any tutorials that you know even in youtube or maybe artstation ? if so please provide me w the channels names and again your work is amazing ❤
@@toutimine1144 Thank you so much! It is a mix of tutorials here and there on TH-cam and studying Artstation, but also don't forget to watch how 2D digital artists render their illustrations to understand texturing techniques as well (twitter is pretty great for that as well) and a lot of experimenting, testing, and practice!
But when I was starting out, I didn't know how to make the human body, so I pretty much learned the box method from Flycat "Create a Perfect Body Base Mesh with Blender 2.92", there are different methods like making the highpoly/blockout then retopo, but personally I really enjoyed the box/poly method for me. (I also kinda work backwards where I make the lowpoly first, then make the highsculpt from that, then bake it lol) (After I learned it, I kept making it to practice and until I found the retopo that worked with me)
Then for the face (when I was starting out, I liked the semi realistic face) I learned from Just Tis Art "The only head sculpting tutorial you will ever need ! Blender ( From beginner to pro ! )" Pretty good way of learning how to learn the proportions and things to generally look out for while sculpting
For retopology, artstation is great, see how the pros do their retopology (triangles are acceptable (check out Royal Skies "Blender/Maya Modeling Topology (In 6 Minutes!!!)" pretty good explaination with examples, it just depends on where you put it)
Rigging I pretty much learned most of it from mainly Royal Skies (amazing tutorials you MUST check out), Mako Ray in the Making Vtuber from scratch series helped out as well!
Texturing I got the general idea on how to unwrap with Mako Ray's Vtuber from Scratch series and Royal Skies (for baking) but I also knew how to digital paint but also watch speed paintings from Digital illustrators and see how they do their techniques
For making Vtuber models, Fofamit, Suvidriel, Kana Kuyuko, Mako Ray are great
For anime style, you just need to study popular anime games like Genshin , I recommend downloading Genshin models and study how they do their face structure and retopology, textures, and rigging
Twitter is a great resource as well
When I was starting out I was super overwhelmed and I had no idea how to use a lot of the programs, but I just recommend just having a goal (making just one simple avatar) and just focus on starting and finishing whether it's perfect or not so you can have a general idea of the pipeline, you will improve as you keep practicing, learning, and not giving up! (It also feels pretty cool to see your models move with motion tracking!)
I also recommend joining Discord groups as well so you can get feedback or if you have questions, you can ask fellow artists as well!
You got this!
