The pricolici stepped out of folk tales and into the villages at the foothills of the Banat Mountains in the Autumn of 1958, to fulfill a generational curse. I have always loved f Wolves, but respected them also. I remember asking my parents why the Wolf is big and bad. And my mother said they aren't. That's simple we people being afraid of them, she said Wolves are naturly more afraid of us then vice versa. Wolves fear all two legged, that means bears and humans. I don't know of there are amy bears left in Europe, but Wolves may remember. They're intelligent enough to pass down knowledge true generations. But she didn't account for things like the Strigoi My first memory of Wolves is a Playmobil Wolf. I really like it. I thought it naturally belonged on a nativity scene. But everyone disagreed. We always had nativity scene in Winter. Multiple, sometimes up to 4. But my parent's are not christians, even though they were both raised catholic. Chilling!! Are these ceremonies still performed in modern times? These events described would be terrifying for the average person. Romanians must have incredible mental and spiritual strength. Thanks for the nightmares. Lol
Yes, in some rural areas the traditions and solemn atmosphere are pretty much the same as always. But most of the country celebrates the 30th of November as a public holiday. And considering that the 1st of December is Romania's National Day, the occasion is a two-day feast for most people. While city dwellers may not attend the evening sitting or night watch in the village, they still gather to socialize and party, and some perform ceremonies such as guarding the garlic as a party game. And then there are those who, regardless of how they spend the night, never fail to anoint themselves and their homes with garlic. Indeed, this reflects the spirituality that is innate to Romanian culture and which keeps us connected to our roots no matter how urbanized the country and the lives of the people have become.
The ambiance and narrative that've been woven into this essay are truly impressive. This is a realm of myth and folklore that I am sadly deficient in, so I am happy to have found this channel. I hope more and more do as well

Radiana once again very insightful video, I’ve a question for you concerning The Werewolves, my teacher once asked another student of his from Russia if he knew of Diana Lupercalia, The Goddess who granted Her followers the ability to transform into Wolves, the student said he hadn’t, this was not followed up unfortunately so the subject was dropped, have you come across any mention of Diana of the Wolves anywhere before? Hope you are well and I’m looking forward to November 30th! Blessed Be.
Thank you for your kind words and question! Diana Lupercalia seems to me like a correlation between the Roman Lupercalia festival and the goddess of the Moon and the Hunt who is also a goddess of magic and witchcraft (Diana/Artemis is identified with Hecate), and who echoes the myth of Actaeon in the context of the festival. Otherwise, myths and folk tales do tell stories of goddesses and witches (Circe, for example) who turn men into wolves or other animals, but in most cases, the metamorphosis is not voluntary. But an example of voluntary transformation can be found in a Dacian myth that says that the heavenly god Zalmoxis gave his priests the ability to turn into wolves on the battlefield. I hope this is somewhat helpful to your question. Blessed be! 🌙
