Luke loves June, but him saying “she stayed there even though she knew she’d never see me again” is something that June cannot deal with. If he ever said that to her, she would lose it. Nick knows what she’s been through. He has risked his life for hers. This whole time Luke has been in love with the woman he remembers, but the woman June is now is not the woman he married. June is a trauma victim, and Luke has a temper. Nick can take care of her.
Her kids are in the reverse too . Luke has nicks daughter raising her. Ans Hannah is in gilead and so is nick
and honestly how could he say this knowing Hannah is still in Gilead as well? It felt like the thought of her staying to get Hannah first never crossed his mind.....

But then there’s the thought that she knew she’d be on the wall if she didn’t get on the plane and get caught . )Now because of series and Drama tv purposes there were twist and character manipulation keeping her a live ) So to stay alive and make sure that somehow happens wouldn’t you escape to your other daughter and husband ? But as a mother she fights that. It’s like a double edge sword that’s a hard one. And Luke isn’t experiencing these things and just received his wife’s baby of another man (whom she “was made from love from a man of a place she had to make a life of a sort “
Luke is a bit of a selfish guy, he is no saint, he cheated on his first wife, and I agree he has a temper.. while Nick, so many times he said "I'm sorry".. I think he's always honest with June, maybe he has something that cannot be revealed yet, but he is always caring for June. Risking his life several times, wanting for June to escape Gilead, so Unselfish! Team Nick and June! Im actually following this tale because of them.

Team Nick! I dont know if its how they wrote the character or its the actor but I never felt a deep love from Luke, not even in the flashbacks. But from the moment we see Nick we get passion, love, caring, mysterious, strong.
Yes. Agreed! Never felt it with Luke and June. I think the infidelity threw me off. But he connection with Nick is real. They’ve both experienced extreme trauma. Luke doesn’t know June anymore. It won’t work for those two. June will probably end up alone.
Oh, I definitely think it was intentional in the writing of Luke's character. They're showing the negative sides of him, which I love that they did (because it's true to life), which I think is supposed to show us how even "good" guys are problematic and how the things that created the patriarchal system of Gilead had been long running dynamics for a long time before that (which is true to our reality as well), and after everything June has been through, the things she could stand for before she'll probably become completely intolerant of now that she's stronger than ever, in many ways. So those flashbacks of him are probably setting the stage for how/why June is going to leave him.
I feel sorry for Luke, he truly loves June and would do anything for her. I love Nick too. We'll Nick is Married too and was hiding his wedding band. Did he marry Hannah?
yeah, i reckon so too. the actors may have had the sense (each of them) to act it that way... reading the script between the lines etc

I don't think Nick is there willingly. I don't think they showed how he got there, did they? It seems he does what he can to help the handmaids. ...not that I'm team Nick or Luke. I'm team Hanna.

Team Nick!!! I will be so disappointed if it does not end that way! June & Nick’s love blossomed in such a horrible place and they have both become different people than they were before. Love their passion & chemistry too!
I really like Luke and the dude has suffered losing his family in a horrible way but I'm team Nick. June has changed in so many ways that Luke will never understand so them getting back together would not work while Nick knows her presently and understands what she is going through.
100% agree.....and Nick loves her so deeply and has become part of her life Luke can never relate to.....but Luke is a gem for loving nichole as he has....so....it’s tough but team Nick!

People change and that is the underlying cause in this scenario. The woman Luke married isn't the woman that escaped Gilead. What June went through and the horrors she experienced has given her so much weight that Luke cannot manage. Nick understands her and he has seen her through that transformation, he can assist her in ways Luke can't.
Are we still sure that Nick is Nichole's father, now that we know Fred Waterford can conceive .. It gives me anxiety !

I’m pretty sure the show runners verified that Nichole is Nick’s daughter. I don’t think this plot device is meant to question Nichole’s paternity.

I know the show is twisted.. So the idea of Fred being Nichole’s father crossed my mind. I really hope not..
She has an unbreakable bond with Nick. He also seems to love her selflessly.
Remember, Nick hadn't been "issued" a woman yet. June was his first, (an experienced first I may add 😉), and she gave birth to his first child.

Yeah I agree. But I think his point is that she shouldn’t do even survived what she did gilead we no has no remorse. She was saved by pure black mail from the acting paries (nick lawrence lydia) so if she was just gonna die doing what she did knowing she couldn’t get back to Hannah why wouldn’t she go with her other daughter and husband ? I'm team Nick. Always have been. Luke just doesn't understand. But I don't think they will give us Nick. Something will happen to him and fate will make Junes choice for her.
Love them both but would like for her and Nick to be together. It would be nice for Nick to get a chance at a family. After all this struggle to stay alive.
Yeah, he truly loves her and their daughter. I want them to have a happy ending as a family, with Nichole and Hannah. I don't dislike Luke but I don't think there's anything in June that he understands anymore, let alone love.
I am completely and undeniably Team Nick! They’ve been through so much together and therefore have a special bond because of that. And in my opinion, the chemistry is on FIRE between Lizzy & Max! Although I’d love to imagine the two of them together, happy and free with Holly, I think it’s more realistic that June will end up alone but empowered and free to be her true self.

Joseph Fiennes is primarily a stage actor. Worked in several projects with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He's been in so many period dramas. His big movie break was Shakespeare in Love for which he received a British Academy Film Award. I mean you can't have a more British filmography than Joseph Fiennes. Never mind that he's also of British royal ancestry.

The woman leading these interviews asked some fantastic questions. Great job.
Team Nick. Think about it from the last two scenes: Nick HELPS June get her revenge in the way that he knew she wanted to. He knows what June wants and accepts her and her choice. But Luke doesn’t truly know the new June, and seems to not be able to handle the real June, nor does he seem to want to accept what June has done. Luke is battling the decision to keep loving current June, and Nick lives to love June and risks his life all the time for her.

Shout-out to the interviewer for doing an excellent job. Personally, I like both Nick and Luke in different ways. But I think eventually Nick will either sacrifice himself to save June, or be tried and executed for treason. June will probably end up with Luke, but who knows if it'll work out. From a storytelling standpoint, even as a Nick fan, this scenario feels the most realistic and satisfying.
Exactly! Drool over Nick, but, seriously, there's no life for him outside Gilead. His flashback clearly shows he was no one before Gilead and now, having a title and a high position, never ever would he want to get back to the state of being a loser... even though he might not fully agree with their policies.

@@Marianna_73 I think that Nick would do anything for June. He already has, and if he became a "loser" somehow for leaving Gilead I don't see how he'd mind if he has his her and Nichole. But even if he escaped to Canada, who the heck would regard him as a loser anyway? Either people would hate him for who he is or respect him for leaving the place.
He can easily have a life outside of Gilead if he wanted to. It wasn't hard for him to visit June in Canada.

Yebb, I think the only realistic outcome is that June ends up with either. Nick will probably either die or end up in criminial court. June will either die or survive this and be a totally different person and she and Luke will probably not be able to build a new relationship.

Come on why so much hate on Nick!? The guy tried to save June not once but twice so that she can go back to Luke. If he was on Gilead's side he wouldn't have helped June expose those letters from women trapped in Gilead. In my opinion he's taking calculated efforts to bring down Gilead.

Also no one is mentioning that he actually prevents a war with Canada and the possible death of millions (and this has nothing to do with June) when he gets Lawrence back as an advisor, knowing Lawrence will advise them to not invade...Glad that Max and Bradley at least understand their characters 🙏🏻

How can you chose the man who is partly responsible for the hell that June has gone through and is still fighting to keep Gilead alive. He is sipping a drink while June is being tortured! Luke is at home caring for the child his wife had with another man and he deeply loves Nichole but feels emasculated bc his wife is fighting to save their daughter
@@karenlaw43 June is not the same June that Luke fell in love with. And Luke will never understand June's trauma, or accept her darkness. So, the other option seems more likely.
@@karenlaw43 As for what Nick has done, I will try to only speak on what we know for sure. He pretty much just wanted a job to make a living for himselg so he joined Gilead before its creation and was loyal to his Commanders and the cause ever since. He was clearly persuaded into it and maybe he didn't know what was all going to happen and just wanted to change the country for the better. I try not to speculate but it's possible. I don't know if he become a driver after he was a soldier (that's most likely but the timeline was never really explained clearly), but either way, of course he did horrible things. He must've killed innocent people as a soldier, and in that air strike he did in Chicago (even though he was ordered to and would be killed if he refused, I shouldn't use that as an excuse).
Sometimes good people do bad things, or they turn their life around later. Meeting June might've been the turning point for him but I think that he knew he was on the wrong side before meeting her. By the time he realized it, it was too late and he knew that if he tried to get out of his situation he would be killed.
He can never be forgiven for what he's done but he can make up for it by doing good and moving forward.
Luke cheated on his wife, which can't be compared with my moral compass to murder (obviously), but he also turned his life around and realized that what he did was wrong. Nick and Luke's circumstances are completely different (because Nick's were far more extreme in Gilead compared to Luke who did that in a more normal world).
June killed people. She killed Fred and let Eleanor die after committing suicide. Emily stabbed Aunt Lydia in the back and killed a wife in the colonies. Rita killed her commander and his wife. Etc. In my opinion, all of this was justified... I don't support murder in real life but this is a show with such crazy circumstances and lifestyles. They all did what they had to survive.
Going back to Nick, he probably killed innocent people so that can't be justified. I know that. But I can forgive him if he continues to be a good person. As for why he's still in Gilead, I predict that it's for Hannah because he can get information about her from inside, whereas if he escaped to Canada. Same with Commander Laurence. He's a good person (who also did horrible things like develop the colonies) but they are both staying in Gilead to try to help it from there. It's better for free countries if people like them have power instead of escape and have all the bad guys in power to do more evil without them knowing about it I think.
I hope I responded clearly with what I believe. We don't have to agree but if you get what I'm saying at least that's good enough. 💛
June and Nick, how can they just go chillin and have coffee together or watch a movie, how can u say what they have is not real? They didn't have a chance to do that in Gilead or else they'll end up on the wall..stolen hidden moments is all they have, those meaningful stares, whispers and light touches.. June is a different person now and Nick i think can handle June better than Luke, move on Luke 😅Go team Nick 🤗

luke and june have both completely changed as people and in the last episode we see him sort of beginning to accept losing her to gilead like beginning to let her go..i dont know if she will end up with nick or alone, but I dont see her back with luke

That's what I was hoping was happening when they showed that scene of them meeting on the bridge. I thought she was going to transferred to his home, and then they could establish a safe house and work on dismantling things from the inside. And we would get to see more Nick and June together. 😻

I might be wrong but I think think Aunt Lydia will in some way try to redeem herself. I think in some sick twisted way she does care for the handmaids and she’s starting to realize that what goes on in Gilead is not what she signed up for and therefore try to make it right for the handmaids.
Agree, occasionally Aunt Lydia shows empathy. She has a soft spot for Madeline, sure she wants her to just behave, however if she had to inflict pain on her or kill her, I doubt she could. As the show goes on, shes deff not coping with the cruelty as well.
You should read „the testaments“ by the same author of the handmaids tale.
Im not sure how much they will take from that book, but it’s told from 3 narrators, one of them being lydia

I’m team Luke too! He never gave up looking for her and trying to help her. I liked Nick but I was always team Luke. Especially since we learned Nick fought for Gilead on the beginning I can’t trust him. Luke took care of Nichole because she was June’s child.

Nick is kind, empathetic, strong, quiet, passionate, controlled. He fights for what matters. He is June’s rock now. He gives her strength and trusts her to do what is needed. They match each other so well.
Luke is dramatic, moody, selfish, weak, and has a nasty temper. He goes with the flow and is not a fighter. He didn’t fight for June when women’s rights were taken away. He was chilled about it. That said a lot about him.

Feeling like Moss basically said Nick will die at the beginning of the interview when she said, “I know the direction the show needs to go.” If June ever does get Hannah back, she’ll want to create the harmonious bond they had before their life was torn apart. But can we PLEASE get at least ONE season where Nick and June are together, before he kicks the can 😭

How can you chose Nick? He’s a weasel! He is partly responsible for the hell that June has gone through! TEAM NICK. PERIOD! If you put scenes side by side of June/Luke & June/Nick, you’ll see the difference of loving someone and being in love with someone. June/Luke is like: “oh that’s cute”, we like the same coffee and our zodiacs say we are compatible.... June/Nick are like magnets, drawn to each other from scene one. That surpasses a ring on ur finger, “compatibility”, all that. If Nick met her in normalcy it would be the same, the trauma they deal with wouldn’t matter. Luke was her past. Nick is her present and future. Luke just wouldn't understand and fully ever be able to comprehend it, or her, because she isn't the same. Luke keeps June in his mind...sure, he considers and thinks and imagines, but he doesn't and could never grasp it. Grasp her. EVER.
I have a feeling she won't be able to be with either, or she'll die, or the show will kill one off so she won't have to choose.

I'm team Nick! There's many things I don't like in Luke's behavior towards June (and Hannah) and June is not the woman she was before Gilead, Luke will never be able to understand her.

Watching this after the end of season 5. Wow, this interview is so interesting- maybe even more so now that I can compare it with what has actually taken place. This interviewer was amazing! I love that she’s really a fan and cared about the same things we do.
I am on the Luke team, because that's her husband, he has ached for her and still does. Nick has been the companion in battle, which she needed; they needed that relationship to survive the circumstances, but I would love to see her healed, whole, and back with her husband.

June and Luke were great before Gilead. Luke is a nice guy, a great father and unfortunately, a typical example of "Nice guys finish last!" Luke also sheds more tears than most of the victims of Gilead! In my opinion, Luke isn't strong enough to handle the new and nutty June.
Nick understands Junes kind of crazy and he knows how to snap her out of nutcase mode when the need arises. Most important, Nick makes June smile!

I don’t think June will end up with either Luke or Nick. I think she has been thru to much and has been changed to much to end up with anyone. Nick loves her unconditionally and just wants her to survive. Luke no longer knows the woman she has become. Luke would not be able to understand what’s she has been thru for a relationship to work. I LOVE JUNE. June loves Nick in a very deep way. I think she also loves Luke. I guess in a perfect world she would be able to raise both her children and just be happy.
It is interesting that we see people leave Gilead and find their partners. (I forgot the Gilmore Girl's name. ) They have to learn who this new person is. Find the familiar things that are still there and the new scars and trauma. As someone with PTSD I would love to see June with Luke again. I feel like maybe Nick could make a HUGE sacrifice for June but stay (or possibly die) and then she has to move on with Luke and Nicole. So I'm team Luke. I'd love to see Luke become acquainted with this new person.

Honestly, I don‘t think June would‘ve fell for Nick in the before. It‘s the trauma, the „we‘re in this together“ and the „I know what you‘ve been through“ that makes the two of them together so unique. In Season 5 you get a glimpse of what June and Luke could have been, if June hadn‘t been to Gilead. Yes, they love each other and they had a child together and they love Hannah, but compared to Nick, Luke will never get what June has been through and I think in the long term she would start to resent him and I think she could find comfort in being with Nick. I think what‘s keeping June and Luke together right now is the love for Hannah and the passion to find and get her back home. I‘m curious on how the next Season will solve the mistery on who she will end up with. I‘m Team Nick, obviously.
I've issues with some of OT's statements about Luke...Luke being a life-longer? I think his ex-wife who he cheated on and left in favour of his affair, would definitely disagree... Nick tried to provide for his whole family - he clearly knows how to take responsibilities, too. I can see that it's nice of Luke to raise Holly, but I lately get the feeling that she's becoming a surrogate for the daughter he lost and can't save...He needs the baby to have at least a little purpose left - even more so now that June changed and moved on.
The question about roles reversed is interesting. Thinking about the differences in their first interactions... Nick was the one starting a conversation with June, cracking a little joke, flirting with her. Luke though was the one who was approached - by Moira, not even June - don't think they'd ever started a conversation if not for Moira. I'd reckon the same would apply to roles reversed. I can't really see Luke+June in Gilead, because Luke would've been one of the Econo-people, keeping a low profile, going to church etc...
Anyways, I don't really care if she ends up with one of both or none - just don't like reasoning that doesn't make a lot of sense...
My only hope is that all three of them will be reunited with their daughters again. 😊
I love how Nick fans don’t give a damn about Hannah. She is so easy for them to discard. So, happiness is define as June, Nick and Holly. Hannah, who cares.

I am team Nick. For start I think they are both (Luke and Nick) similar in character, so that's why she fell for both of them, but Nick is special in a way, that while Gilead is full of crappy people, he is the one and only good soul that even after been given the power of a commander he did not change for the worse. (also Luke has made some comments I didn't like)
I really really love both characters and the actors are so good. (Especially the Luke actor with emotions 🥺) but I'm Team Nick!! I think it's obvious from episode 9 that June is very much in love with him. I think if it wasn't for war and gilead and both could go free she'd chose Nick. I mean they together 🥺🥺 and Nick always helped her risking his life selflessly. He loves her unconditionally and just wants her to be happy. That's true love. ❤️

How could you chose the man who is partly responsible for the hell on earth that June has endured? He is sipping a drink while June is being tortured and was responsible for bringing Hanna to get June to talk and she was hurt June to see Hannah afraid of her. On the other hand Luke is caring for the child that his wife had with another man and he cares for the baby and feels emasculated bc his wife is fighting to save their daughter!
She will probably end up with neither of them. She's changed too much to be back with Luke. Nick should have got more screentime in S3 to better understand where he's at in S4. We dont know what happened in Chicago, his current state of mind and which side he's really on. I think it would require him to really step up to root for him again. He seemed like a much stronger character in S2, something feels different about him now...
I think it is all calculated. Plot-wise. Not "screen-time-audience"wise. Nick disappeared in season 3. He surfaced in finale as a Commander. In season 4 suddenly he has so much power and influence. We don't know how he got it and what has he done prior to estabilish Gilead. We know that Swiss and Canadians refused to make deal with him. I mean, they agreed to talk with Waterfords, so Nick's life is probably finished outside Gilead. Even more than Lawrence's. And we still don't know why! So Nick's character development explanation needs HUGE part of the plot. I don't imagine they would just kill him off after making so much effort to estabilish suspense around his character.

Imagine boiling down such a powerful complex character as June and asking Team Luke or Team Nick. Neither of them really matter. This show is about women. June, Janine, Moira, Emily, Rita, Serena, Lydia. Thats the real conversation.
Nicks character has depth, he's super strong and knows everything June has gone through. Nick seems to light a fire in June, i see how passionate she is with him ans vice versa. I love thier story soo much! I also dont care for Luke at all. Im sorry but they could've picked a better actor, theres times i think he's okay but majority of his acting isnt very believable.
I side with June, who seems to have resigned herself to never being with Luke again. Luke has suffered all the time that they've been separate, but doesn't have the same level of maturity and selflessness as June or Nick. So... Team Nick.

@@jenisejackson5408 For June, of course. Luke was very upset that June would not take up the opportunity to leave Gilead, and leave Hannah. Furthermore, he actually took it as a sign that she didn't love him enough, as if he was incapable of factoring the hardships she was dealing with. It is as immature as Hannah asking June why she hadn't "tried harder" to see her. In Hannah's case it's understandable, children are egocentric by nature. In Luke's case, I was surprised.
@@askteriskc4957 . Good Morning, I don't see it that way. He is allowed to have emotions, he is worried about her being killed. Since it is evident given many opportunities she does not go to Canada. However, he was not malicious or yelling when he was expressing his feelings.

I think the best would be either she stays alone or with Luke. Because, well, I get she'll never be like before Gilead again, but that's okay. Sometimes, you don't have to understand someone completely to feel affection to them. A relationship works with compassion. Luke doesn't have to understand everything about Gilead to be there for her. The relationship doesn't have to be the same. Naturally, relationships evolve over time, so that's not a huge problem. Staying single of course is another good thing; I mean, she probably wants and needs independence and this way, she can operate more free regarding planning escapes; when she has no husband to leave behind.
Regarding Nick; well, I think the main problem is he is responsible for Gilead. This alone would've been kinda okay, but he decided to not even tell her; hence their relationship started under false claims. Plus, I don't even think there's much real love between them. As said in the show, in Gilead, you take love where you find it. Both of them kind of had the 'opportunity' so they....automatically clicked, for the lack of better words. Yes, he tries to help her and stuff, but that doesn't change he lied to her in the beginning. Furthermore, they really don't even have a 'deep' connection. Yes, on the surface, they do care for each other, because in Gilead, they have nothing else, but I think, in this moment, June can't feel real, unconditional love since everything she does basically is for her daughter.
Shes hands down my favorite actress. Shes absolutely gorgeous in real life and brilliant on screen.

Nick is a war criminal. He is actively contributed in the creation of Gilead. He also lied to June about his identity, bailed on helping Nichole, and caught June at the farm. So far he has done nothing other than one failed escape attempt and helped June killed Fred. Also, he only cared about June and killed other people with no problem.
Shipping them is like supporting someone to go into an obsessive, toxic relationship with a criminal :(
