I thought the same thing. My guess is that they likely didn't have all of those things going when the contestants first came into the house, and turned everything on after they had passed by, so they didn't know about it beforehand. With the pressure of time, the contestants just started going with the cupcake before they saw all the obstacles, but by then were already holding the cupcake and figured to just plow through instead of head back and fix the obstacles. It would've been a brilliant strategy, but hindsight's 20/20

@@Inexpressable It can be interpreted both ways. Richard Osman exploited this in Series 2 with the ‘Put the 3 exercise balls on the mat on the hill’ task, where he brought the mat down, and was given the points because it’s a valid interpretation. Same should be applied here.
