The way Loial says it, I seen a lot of new fans hear iHuman instead of Aielman. So they missed the connection to the redheaded Aiel in the cage in ep 3.
The warder bond allows the warder and Aes Sedai to feel each other's feelings, their location, intentions etc. Like others have said, it is a soul bond. So, they lost their other half, the awareness and comfort of the others presence. Like losing half of yourself. When Moraine was crying during the ceremony, she was being overwhelmed by the grief Lan was feeling, not just her own grief. In an earlier episode when Lan said he shouldn't have had a drink because Moraine get emotional when he drinks? That was alluding to the bond as well.
Lan and Stepin also make comments training that are actually diagnosing each others' Aes Sedai (you shoulder is stiff vs. why are you so tired). The warders are sharing those experiences, too.

There was this one comment I saw, don't remember if it was on this video or another vid I saw, but they were defending the Moraine putting boots on her bed choice. The comment said that at the beginning of the episode Moraine comments on how the Tiwer doesn't feel like home. She feels more at home in her boots, in her saddle, and with Lan at her side. So while Alanna is so relaxed that she is barefoot and eating on the bed in someone else's room, Moraine is still fully dressed with her boots on at all times and ready to go/leave at any time. It shows that she doesn't feel at home in the Tower. This comment made me notice that Alanna remarks on Moraine's bare, undecorated, and impersonal room. And then it is only after Alanna leaves that she opens the box on the wall with the painting on it. Moraine is so closed off from everyone, except maybe Lan, that she even keeps the only personal touch/decoration in her room behind a closed door. Like that level of detail to show Moraine's character is amazing.
One of the immediate effects of a Warder's Aes Sedai dying is berserk rage. That's what happened to Stepin, and that's why nobody blamed him for what happened.
This episode, acting-wise, was the strongest by far. Lan's overwhelming grief, Moraine reflecting it, Stepin's double talk making it seem like he was okay when he had the plan all along, Matt's golum side coming through, so many excellent performances. Also, Loial, the giant ogre/olgier was great

Very insightful again. Picking up on the civil war amongst the shotties. Brother book thinking Rand is an Aielman. Brother many teeth being afraid of Mat because he brought Shadow City with him. Could be important? Hmm....
The warder bond is a magic soul bond, when an Aes Sedai dies it's like a part of the warders soul dies along with it and they could never get it back. It's a lot different to the depression that getting cut off from the one power. Not to mention that people who are cut off from the power often kill themselves too
It is so much fun, as a book reader, to see y'all react and theorize about characters. Next week's episode is supposed to be a FIRECRACKER! See y'all next Friday.
That city is literally inpenetrable. None can attack it because they would not only have large army but hundreds of aes sedai and wardens massacreing them. That why Moiraine wanted them to go there because not even hundreds thousands of trollocs would manage to breach the tower. Aes Sedai and wardens also sense Fades, so they coulnd get through the doors.
@@ronaldperla7871 I believe the Aiel surrounded the city but never actually attacked. They mostly wanted the White Tower to stay out of their business so they just kinda pinned them inside.
Guys, I've loved these books for nearly 30 years and I gotta say, the way you sit there laughing and joking while the episode plays out... is absolutely awesome! Its so good to see people experience this world fresh and enjoy this adaptation. You guys are killing it (and me!) Please never stop 🧡😂
1. Who does the editing amazing 2. The names you make are hilarious for the characters. Medieval Mick Jagger is the GOAT of nicknames. 3. The bond is super intense. They know where each are, they become super soldiers, and the Aes Sedai hurt really bad too but the rage is insane for the warders. 4. Idea for the channel “One piece”
They’re safe. That’s the Aes Sedai city. Any Trolloc or too many teeth in there, they are KOS. That’s one city where Mat and Rand are safe… as long as they don’t channel. Then they’re gonna be sharing a cell with Logain. Son of beast, son of man… 😂😂😂 He said an Aielman. An Aiel (Eye-Eel) that dude that was dead in the cage that OG cut down. Mat stole his rock, and his wolf statue. He’s trying to hide that brown liquor. The one that has you making excuses the next day. 😂 Now you know why the Wisdom is so popular in the village. Let me go see that Wisdom, I got the next two days off. Yeah, that bond is strong. The Aes Sedai do some magic and like, intertwine your souls or something, so when one dies, it’s like part of you dies. Warders usually die, but either way, it’s not good. Double edged sword. That’s why they protect the Aes Sedai with their life. If you fail, it’s your life, too. Also, the reason he was dealing with it a month was because he had to bring that ring back. That was his last job for her. Brother book. He’s gonna be a favorite. Great reaction, as always. The team is back. Catch y’all on the next one.
One thing to remember about the last scene. Moraine feels what Lan feels. He was trying his hardest to hold together, but look at her eyes. The tears. The pain. Lan rarely shows emotions, and his grief was so big that she couldn't hold it back.
For the Warder/Aes Sedai bond, they literally hold some OLLLLLLLD technology (essentially magic, given how little they understand the world that came before theirs) and swear an oath. That magic bond let's them feel each others emotions, their pain and hurt, let's them know generally what direction the other is in, let's them draw on each other's stamina. Only bad thing is when the Aes Sedai dies before her Warder, he goes into a literal berserk rage. Like we saw last episode.
There's nothing special about the rings. The rings are badge of their station and show their rank as graduates of the Tower. Nothing more. And the bond is a spell that the Aes Sedai casts on the Warder to bond his spirit to her own. That's why normal humans don't have Warders or 'bonds'.
@@ChristmasLore But we do know. Both Nynaeve and Egwene have channeled without the use of the rings, which should make it clear by now that they’re ornamental rather than useful.
Re: the bond..... Warders can ignore incapacitating injuries, go longer without sleep, food and water, gain a sense of Shadowspawn, and gain a psychic (emotion/sensation-only, not thoughts) with their Aes Sedai. It's close to being a super-human power bump. Do it to someone like Lan, who's already one of the best warriors around, and he becomes a force of nature (see him one-shotting Trollocs in Ep. 1 vs. all the repeated blows everyone else had to use to kill them). Warders are the most* dangerous warriors in existence. (* - except for [SPOILER REDACTED]). To answer Dre's question, yes, one Warder could be bonded to multiple Aes Sedai...technically. But it never, ever happens. For one, the Warder's job is to protect their Aes Sedai, and they can't fulfill that purpose for both at once. But more importantly, no Aes Sedai would willingly allow another sister to make a claim like that on their Warder. Even Greens (much more liberal about Warder-related things) would never accept sharing a Warder with someone else's bond.
It wasn't Valda randomly seeing Egwene and Perrin as out of place. Remember the last time they ran into him, he was all like "I'll remember all your faces in case I see you again." He recognized them.
The Aes Sedai/Warder bond being broken tends to send the survivor into either a deep depression (Stepin this episode) and/or a suicidal rage (Queen of Menetheren after the King died).
Let's not forget that part of the bond is positive. A bonded warder can stay awake for days, has more energy than normal men, and can perform feats of great strength. Stepin lasted a lot longer than most warders do when their bond holder dies. Over a month... impressive. Most warders charge into battle in a berserker rage with no thought to defense.
Remember the meeting between the "fellowship" and the Whitecloaks on that road, this guy Valda was referred to as a Questioner by the other leader, Bornhald, who told Moiraine to find an Aes Sedai for healing. So Valda's much more extreme than Bornhald, especially considering you saw him burning Aes Sedai at the stake. Bornhald also seemed to have an eye on Valda as someone to be wary about. I think you're right about the bond. This episode was about showing the intensity of what the bond means and explaining the madness that overcame Stepin when he went Viking Berserk in that cave. He's pretty much had the heart torn out of him. Blood calls Blood. And then obviously you've got Perrin's connection to wolves developing, and all these village friends are now present in or around Tar Valon. Great video guys. This episode seemed to pass serious quick to me, maybe because so much happens.
The children of the light hunt darkfriends (like the innkeeper who tried to turn Rand & Mat over to the Fade, but got killed by Thom in Episode 3). The main Child of Light (Valda) in this episode is a questioner - basically like a witch hunter / inquisition guy who tortures people into confessions. The children of the light also believe that the Aes Sedai are all darkfriends despite their oaths & hunt them accordingly - with the aim of killing them, like they do with all darkfriends they find.
There are also divisions within the children of the light. Like the more reasonable and pragmatic Lord Captain Bornhalt (Golden pauldron guy) and the more fanatical people (Valda and the questioners in general)
Slick Rick showed up two more times in this episode besides the one you saw. :D Good catch! Logain, the Dragon Renovated, started a war at the start of the 4th episode. His army was ransacking that place, and caused a lot of death and destruction. The show only focuses on him killing the king's guard and then talking to the king, but there's lot of people running around and stabbing each other.
Thank you for taking the time to watch WOT and sharing your thoughts in a way that entertains us, gives us a different perspective and at all times feels honest & sincere. I hope this channel continues to grow and that you guys keep loving what you are doing.
Brother Book is one of the fan faves! He's like the white noise in the background that comforts all of us to sleep. Hammed, the actor, definitely got the assignment!! 😂 Also on Perrin not getting in on the action and taking revenge on Child Valda, he's struggling with violence and he's scared he's going to go berserker mode again. So he avoids it like the plague!
The first Aielman we saw was the guy that Mat and Tom buried. He was the red headed guy that Tom said was unjustly killed essentially due to stereotype
Even though the plot of this episode isn't in the book, I love that the showrunners chose to dedicate an episode to the Warder bond. It's extremely important to the story, easily one of the central metaphors that frame the moral of the story. I think most readers might argue a Warder losing his Aes Sedai is actually WORSE than being gentled or stilled (losing the ability to touch the Source, the words are gendered.) "Can more than one woman bond one dude"... what an interesting question :)
@@larasantaella the thing that kills me is how little thought people put into media analysis. We see nothing of Warder training in the books. They see what they want to see and nothing else. It's implied strongly that many of the Aes Sedai practice "circumstantial homosexuality" brought. This behavior is very common in unisex boarding schools (which the white tower is), the military, prison, and more. Something that is often not considered is that the white tower is a dividend sex education center. The tower proper houses only women while there is a second school for men inside the tower grounds. The very little details we do get is that it's more or less a boot camp situation with a structure similar to that of the tower proper. You don't leave until you are dismiss or tap out. That's going to lead to certain social norms especially when Christianity, Islam, or Judaism isn't a thing. Bisexuality to one degree or another seems to be the default in humans. I love how the show is running with that correct assumption.
@@alananimus9145 yes, but they’re watching from a very… dare I say macho point of view - glossing over every mention of men sex, a man showing off his arms making them uncomfortable or laughing while Eggy gets assaulted.
Fun fact, it's not actually a new set angle to have the city looking so clean. In the books, Tar Valon is said to be the cleanest city in the lands, with no garbage or rats to be found. Curious to see if they keep this detail with other cities like Tear and Cairhien when we see those (finally).
Just discovered you guys! I'm a HUGE WoT fan since the books came out. Loving the show, and enjoying non-readers reacting to this. I will go back and watch your earlier reactions now. Watch the extra content on Amazon for some more world-building info. You'll love it. It's very intriguing and rich. Keep these coming, guys! 👍👍👍
The whole purpose of having Stepin in this series is purely for exposition: to show the power of the bond between Aes Sedai and their Warders. It was never about Stepin himself.
This!!! The point of the storyline really was to hit home how Moraine and Lan feel about their connection... And why Moraine might be afraid for Lan if she gets killed. It's not about Stepin in his Ase sedai at all, really. But it is an example to show how the bond works between Ase Sedai and Warder. Show the stakes of it , basically. A few reacters didn't quite catch on to that, unfortunately.
Egwene and Perrin not killing the Questioner tells me they don't have bitterness in them...not yet anyway. They're just young and scared. They're not hardened like Nynaeve who will stab someone with a paring knife without blinking. I haven't read the books, so I could be wrong.
12:43 after all this time, we finally know what's wrong with Valda! His Hanes are too tight! All this trouble he caused and now we know how to fix it 🤣🤣
The bond is magical. They are magically linked and can feel each other's emotions and physical sensations. This can be masked, but it is a lifelong connection that cannot be broken without devasting effects. A severed bond can be survived but it's very hard. It is easier for Aes Sedai than their warders, but devastating to both.
Bro, this is Tar Valon. Hundreds of Aes Sedai everywhere. During the Trolloc Wars a couple thousand years ago, entire massive armies of Trollocs laid siege to the city and tried to get inside in four major assaults and completely failed. It broke the Trollocs and they lost the war after that. No Fade or Trolloc is gonna casually stroll up into this place, unless the show makes a major change for dramatic effect.
Dre has some excellent predictions (which I see your face make even when you aren’t saying them-trust your gut. I think you know more than you realize)
"Brother Book"... I have read all the WoT books when it started over 25 years ago. You guys nailed, "Brother Book" and coined the term so well, you have no idea... Love your channel
Guys, you're so great, I just had to drop a line in the chat. I've been laughing my ass off the whole time. Love the nicknames... lady jaws, slick rick, too many teeth... but the comment "and feed him a bird on your way out" just made my day! And you're so intuitive about stuff, it's a real pleasure to watch! Brother book is the best short description of Loial ever! Not to give anything away but the 5 from the village are only just starting to develop or comprehend their powers. And they are still young naive hillbillies. Give them time, especially Perrin. Loved how y'all loved the Tinkers aka the Leaf People! Most folks dismiss them cause there's nothing really spectacular there. Real strength runs deep.
Glad you could get your laugh in with us lol and yes they are definitely naive but they are getting better, I be forgetting they are about 18 yrs old -DRE
Man, it’s really nice to hear the perspective of non-readers. As a book-reader, I was a little frustrated that they spent so much screen-time on Steppin, but I know now that he did a great job of explaining the warder bond to new fans. So, hell yeah, keep it up, guys; your commentary is giving me a deeper appreciation for the show.
Stepin (the warder to the green Aes Sedai that died) was indeed "stupid" when he attacked Logain. However, due to the bond, when his Aes Sedai died he went sort of mad with loss. This is a side effect of the bond. If one person dies it is overwhelmingly difficulty for the survivor, and warders usually don't last long because they will do stupid things like throw themselves head long into battle. They didn't really explain it well in the show, but this is actually pretty "normal" behavior for a warder who loses their Aes Sedai. Imagine, for years, even decades, you are mentally connected to another person. You always know where they are, you always feel their emotions, you share their pain and their happiness, you know each other so well you often do not even need words. PLUS you love them as deeply as a close family member or lover. Then one day it's all just gone. You're alone, not only because they are physically not there but also mentally and emotionally they are gone from your mind. The bonding method can technically be used on anyone and on multiple people, but for the Aes Sedai (who are the only people that really have he ability to do it right now) it is only between an Aes Sedai and one or more warders. As for the Dark One's minions attacking Tar Valon (the city they are in) there are too many Aes Sedai there. This is the home of the Aas Sedai, there are hundreds of them in the city at any time plus their warders and whatever defenses the city has outside the White Tower. One Aes Sedai can do a lot of damage. Hundreds of them are as good as an army.
This is one thousand times better than any other WOT reaction / review site and I am living for it. Having read the books from like day one this is exactly what we need.
Listen for the whistling. When Padang Fain rolled into town in ep1, he was whistling a little tune. When the Fade rode in, you heard the same whistling. When Rand and Mat were heading into the inn in this episode, you heard the whistling again and someone to the right side of the screen turned and walked off camera. They always seem to announce again with that little whistling.
Remember, guys, that the Aes Sadai are individual women. Don't judge all Reds by Liandrian, nor all Blues by Moraine. Not all Reds hate men with the vitriol that Liandrian does. Most Reds join simply because they want to prevent men from going mad by using the One Power. They don't hate men, they just hate the behavior that the madness causes men because saidin (the male half of the One Power) is corrupted. When men channel, they get corrupted, too. Can't be helped. Except by "gentling" (severing them from the Power, as was done to Logain in the last episode,) which is normally done in the White Tower after a Trial. As for Blues, Moraine is unusual in staying away from the White Tower for so long. Passionately devoted to their causes, Blues would be away from the White Tower for as long as it took to settle whatever their current cause was, then they would return to the Tower. Moraine's "cause" has taken her about 20 years now.... Has she found the Dragon Reborn yet? I love watching your reaction videos to this show of one of my favorite book series. I've read the books multiple times, & am really enjoying the show, even with the changes.
Most of the reds we meet are pretty awful. I like Pevara, of course, but even she questions if maybe she chose the wrong ajah and Sanderson gave her more story than I think RJ intended.
As a rule red's do hate men. They are an example of an organization corrupted by their own cause, unlike the white cloaks who's cause was corrupt from the beginning.
@@Dyvion I mean ya. She just started channeling and hasn't reached anywhere near her peak. The point is Valda's action don't make sense. He assumes she is an Aes Sedai and show's no fear. Even after she outright says she isn't he still doesn't know how strong she is. But the biggest argument is the number of rings he has. It's just not otherwise believable.
Logain was laughing at them I believe (it’s straight from the books). Padan fain (the guy who you guys noticed was in the background and was there when the rivers was attacked) appears a second time in episode 5 and is important so great spot! Yep it’s 100% setting up the importance of the wardens bond. Glad you are all enjoying the series have been loving your reactions and nicknames!

Hasn't stopped people from trying though from Artur Hawking to the Trollocs to the Aiel.
@@christopheryoder8292 pretty sure the aiel never attacked Tar Valon.
@@ronaldperla7871 I believe the Aiel surrounded the city but never actually attacked. They mostly wanted the White Tower to stay out of their business so they just kinda pinned them inside.
You forget a certain spoiler scene in the future with Raken and toraken :p

Guys, I've loved these books for nearly 30 years and I gotta say, the way you sit there laughing and joking while the episode plays out... is absolutely awesome! Its so good to see people experience this world fresh and enjoy this adaptation. You guys are killing it (and me!) Please never stop 🧡😂

Love the nicknames u give to the characters. .Loial as "Brother Book"....perfection 👌
Brother Book is my favourite name you guys have come up with. I love it and it's such a good name for Loial
Very apt indeed. Chuckled when they said that.
"You don't have to worry about droppin them soft, they're dead" *Dre and Brandon just look sideways* I died lmao
Lol I’m just saying they can’t feel anything anymore and their were several other bodies to tend to 🤷🏾♂️😂

You guys are gonna love 'Brother Book'.
Great catch on seeing Slick Rick, I missed that one myself.
"Brother Book" Seem like a cool dude, he may become my favorite character -DRE
I love “Brother Book”!
“He don’t need sleep, he needs Jesus”. No lies there haha Mat is looking rough. I’m looking forward to what happens to Mat in the next few episodes
Possessing a cursed dagger will do that to a person.
1. Who does the editing amazing
Brother book is also a keeper. More on point than they know.
Them doing One Piece would be epic.
Especially once they get into it and hit with some feels.
@@larryjones558 opening the book of translation on us!!!
Love what you’re doing with this series. Appreciate your perspective and instincts.
Your reactions to the show make me love the show even more.
There's nothing special about the rings. The rings are badge of their station and show their rank as graduates of the Tower. Nothing more.
And the bond is a spell that the Aes Sedai casts on the Warder to bond his spirit to her own. That's why normal humans don't have Warders or 'bonds'.
That's for the books...
About the show...we don't know yet. Saw they glowing weirdly a couple of times...
@@ChristmasLore But we do know. Both Nynaeve and Egwene have channeled without the use of the rings, which should make it clear by now that they’re ornamental rather than useful.
"That's not the tattoo I wanted" lmao!
Well put.

Loial is definitely and accurately - Brother Book. So glad the character made it to the screen.
Y'all are hilarious, as a book reader I'm excited to see y'all go through this journey.
Suicidal rage = Steppin in Ep 4
Deep depression = Steppin in Ep 5
*Crucial* takeaways from this video:
-Padan Fain = "Slick Rick"
-Loial's face is ashy & needs lotion
😆 Good laughs every time with these reactions!
Yo I straight up cackled out loud at the Etch a sketch comment and edit. That shit was 🔥🔥🤌
Slick Rick showed up two more times in this episode besides the one you saw. :D Good catch!
Logain, the Dragon Renovated, started a war at the start of the 4th episode. His army was ransacking that place, and caused a lot of death and destruction. The show only focuses on him killing the king's guard and then talking to the king, but there's lot of people running around and stabbing each other.
oh man we going to have to go back and look then -DRE
Thank you for taking the time to watch WOT and sharing your thoughts in a way that entertains us, gives us a different perspective and at all times feels honest & sincere. I hope this channel continues to grow and that you guys keep loving what you are doing.
Brother Book is one of the fan faves! He's like the white noise in the background that comforts all of us to sleep. Hammed, the actor, definitely got the assignment!! 😂
Also on Perrin not getting in on the action and taking revenge on Child Valda, he's struggling with violence and he's scared he's going to go berserker mode again. So he avoids it like the plague!
"Is that an apple or a peach?" It's a persimmon, the fruit Sister Strongjaw said was in the garden.

@@amys0482 The answer is Wafo (Watch and find out)
@@alananimus9145 the answer is right there in the chapter, but as it implied sex between two men they decided to skip over it.

Most warders die shortly after their aes sedai die. Its quite an important plot point, hence the extended coverage this episode
Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this episode!
Egwene and Perrin not killing the Questioner tells me they don't have bitterness in them...not yet anyway. They're just young and scared. They're not hardened like Nynaeve who will stab someone with a paring knife without blinking. I haven't read the books, so I could be wrong.
Nyneave is pretty much a honey badger medic (and now I want to play one in D&D)

This joke does not quit.
12:43 after all this time, we finally know what's wrong with Valda! His Hanes are too tight! All this trouble he caused and now we know how to fix it 🤣🤣
I love watching y'all's reactions lol. That city is FULL of Aes Sedai, no fade or trollock would dare walk in there. darkfriends though.....

"That's not the tato I wanted!" 🤣 I laughed so hard. Thanks for the great reaction/discoussion!
Glad you enjoyed it lol! -DRE
I can’t wait to watch your reaction! The WoT Origins for this is really good, too. Don’t sleep on it.

So glad I found this channel. Not enough people reacting to this show. Y'all are hilarious and super relatable. Take my sub!
Please keep using the jaws theme whenever Liandrin comes on screen lmao I laugh every time
We will lol -DRE
I've read the books multiple times, & am really enjoying the show, even with the changes.
nah, judge reds by liandrin that part's fine
Most of the reds we meet are pretty awful. I like Pevara, of course, but even she questions if maybe she chose the wrong ajah and Sanderson gave her more story than I think RJ intended.
As a rule red's do hate men. They are an example of an organization corrupted by their own cause, unlike the white cloaks who's cause was corrupt from the beginning.
