    Great video, Leon!
    I have a couple of questions:
    1. When I try to add a comparison, I can only select:
    - Dimension, where I select Test Data Filter Name.
    - Dimension Value is Match Type for me. Any idea why? Interanal Traffic doesn't pop up like it does for you.
    2. Is there a way to view your internal traffic after activating the Internal Traffic Filter?
    Thanks, Leon.

      I have the same problem. I can also not click apply, but only explorative data analysis. But that's a bit to difficult for me. So testing so far doesn't work for me also.

      Yes I have this problem too. @leon I think GA4 may have updated options since your original video, could you help us?

    Hey Leon - great video - thanks very much. Very comprehensive explanation. I work fora very large organisation. There are instances where we want to see both the internal traffic difference from the all traffic view. How would you recommend setting this up. Multiple data streams within same property. Or a second GA4 property just for an excluded view of the internal traffic and one for all traffic to see the differences? thanks!

      Perhaps you can add the 'traffic_type' parameter as custom dimension? So you can build reports where you include or exclude based on your needs? I've thought about doing this many times but have never actually tested this..

    Thanks for the video. Can u make a video like i want to create three audiences for educational admissions website in GA4.
    1. Audiences for who registered. 2. Audiences who registered but not enrolled 3. Audiences who are not registered but visiting the website.
    Please consider creating a video on this. Thanks

      Thanks for the suggestion! You're not the first one that requests a video on audiences, so it goes on my video idea list for sure. I will need to think about an angle that is applicable for everyone though

    Nice video! I would like to filter bot visits in GA4. I have some ip numbers from those bots. Can I filter bot visits? In UA it was quite easy, but in GA4 I am still searching...
    Thanks!

      Hi Robert, the GA4 docs say that bots are filtered by default. But in my experience not all bots are included in this filter. So adding extra filters could be a good idea. If you have the IP adresses of certain bots you can just follow the same procedure as i follow in the video. In UA I used to filter bots by network name or fields like country. But this is not possible at the moment in GA4.

    Hello Leon, I have done all the steps, and also the exact steps from the official Google guide. But in 'real-time overview', I can still see data from myself, even though I have excluded the IP address, I am connected to. Any ideas for why this is, or how to fix this?

    • @LeonKorteweg
      @LeonKorteweg  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'dd first check if your IP is stable. If your IP changes all the time (because of network conditions, privacy enhancements, etc) your filter won't work.
      Also check if you've enabled your filter. In 'testing' mode, your traffic will keep coming through. I've included this in the video.
      Please let me know if you keep having issues

    Hello Thanks for this video. I applied the same and my internal traffic is not filtered. I see traffic in realtime as well as reports for the IP addresses filtered in GA4.

      Hey! There are a couple of options i would check if I were you:
      - Check if the IP match type is set up correctly. By default this is set to 'IP address is in range (CIDR notation). I usually just set this to 'IP contains'
      - Check if IP address entered matches the real IP address of your location.
      - Check if the Filter under data settings is active
      Of course this setting does not work on historical data. Could it be possible that you saw data that was collected before enabling the filter?

      @@LeonKorteweg Thanks for your comment. I have applied IP filter i.e. IP contains 119.160.
      Filter is active from data settings and I am using current data not historical data I still see the traffic from the same IP both in debug view and in realtime reports. Wondering if I need anything at GTM end or not?

    What if our company website has thousands of employees? And we cant add all the IP addresses? What is the workaround?

    • @LeonKorteweg
      @LeonKorteweg  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On most larger organisations, filtering out everyone will be impossible to do since many people work from home. Here are some suggestions or workarounds:
      - Always filter out as many 'power users' as you can.
      - Filter out the office networks (even with more than one location this should be relatively easy to do)
      - If there is a login button for employees on your site, implement event tracking on that button. You can make an audience or segment that excludes everyone that clicked that button. Less practical than an IP filter, but it is something..
      Hope this helps!
