Today's Highlight:
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said that Hurricane Beryl has become a “potentially catastrophic” Category 5 storm in the eastern Caribbean with maximum sustained wind speeds of 160 mph.
After wreaking havoc in the eastern Caribbean islands including Grenada, Barbados, Tobago, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and St. Lucia, a hurricane warning is now in effect in Jamaica, as the storm is expected to pass near the island on Wednesday 3rd July, 2024.
A total of three (3) people were reported dead following the passage of Hurricane Beryl which battered Grenada and its sister islands yesterday with winds over 140 miles per hour (mph).
Also, St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves said one person had died on the Grenadine Island of Bequia.
Guyana's President Dr. Irfan Ali sent humanitarian aid to the affected islands following the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley issued a media release disclosing that the Government of Trinidad and Tobago is mobilizing relief supplies to be urgently dispatched to our neighboring islands that were affected by Hurricane Beryl.
Following the reports of power outages in Tobago due to Hurricane Beryl, the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&Tec) issued a release informing the public that they worked overnight to restore power to the affected areas.

A 25-year-old man was robbed and shot at along Cleopatra Bovell Trace, Phase 7, La Horquetta on Monday 1st July, 2024.
a known firearm and narcotics offender by the name of “Stricker” was shot at after he allegedly opened fire on police officers along Bayshore West in Marabella on Friday 28th June, 2024.
Two men were stabbed in two separate incidents in Pierreville Street, Mayaro just one hour apart on Saturday 29th June, 2024.
In the first incident, 20-year-old Jason Watson of School Road, Mafeking Village, Mayaro was stabbed while liming at Hilltop Bar in Pierreville Street on Saturday 29th June, 2024.
In the second incident, 24-year-old Christian Roop of Rest House Village, Mayaro was stabbed by two men near V’s mini-mart in Pierreville Street, Mayaro on Saturday 29th June, 2024.
