It’s actually more relevant now than it ever was, homelessness is at a record high and so is crime which is enhancing the devise between government and the people
He's come out of retirement to do one more album, he said it in one of his recent freestyles. It's going to be called The James Devlin album from what he said
Written when he was 16 years old 🔥🔥 I remember seeing him live on my 18th birthday back in the day. I drank my first ever legal pint while Devlin was on stage spraying absolute heat, Perfect night!!
Shoutout to whoever put you on to this , great track that you probably wouldn't get to otherwise. Devlin is a legend and one of few people Ghetts respects to spit back to back with him.He is one of few people to get a wheelup in fire in the booth and once spit so hard on one of those fire in the booths that Charlie sloth retired a beat for him.
Devlin now one of the OGs of Grime. Super talented and famous for his incredible flows and cadences. He brought something fresh when he first hit the UK grime scene and made an impact as a young kid coming up. He has a few fire in the booths, SBTV and a daily duppy 👍🏼 He is close with Ghetts who you know already
Devlin is truly one of the best the country has produced. Both his fire in the booths plus Off with their heads with Wretch 32 and Holy Grail with Wiley are a must to react to
He’s one of the true greats of British music, he’s doesn’t chat shit about stupid topics and mumble crap. Unfortunately because he’s real he’s never blown up to the level he should be, he never sold out. True legend
He did blow to that standard of that time, its just the uk scene wasn't developed as it is today. He was all over the charts at one point with songs like runaway and London city both him and wretch were killing it that era even mainstream, wretch's don't go still stands to this day as a banger. Imagine them both fresh on the scene now where things are currently at would be a takeover. He reminds me a lot of skinnyman, if u guys haven't checked him out you NEED to, skinny man - day to day basis or council estate of mind
So glad you’re watching devs! All of his songs are bangers but check out his Fire in the booth, and his early days F64s, he even did an acoustic freestyle rap with Ed Sheeran which was fire… as much as I love Akala, wretch, lowkey and mic righteous, Devlin has to be considered one of the goats, the kid was fucking different…
Thanks for this guys ❤ This is a classic to alot of us here in the UK.Ur honestly killing it lately 🔥🔥🔥I love watching u both , especially the Mic Righteous ones plz keep em coming 😊xxx
It beggars belief that artists like Devlin have never got the recognition they deserve He is one of our national treasures as so many others have said. A track called "All we have is now" ft Asher D & Jimmy Sharp is a superb track for reaction or your own pleasure. Great reaction, love n respect from UK
This is bass devlin, these facts are exactly why he never got promoted higher than street level, the country couldnt let songs like this be heard because its true.. instead they would let one direction or Five go international.. devlin speaks the truth.. again.. Shystie - One wish .. id love to hear your opinion
All the way from UK bless can you believe this Don was only 17 years old when he did this ..this guy always blows me away I'm 40 and followed this guy from day one ..he is something els
devlins mind and soul is timeless... england today is worse than ever, he was so young around 15 when he wrote this song... he saw humans for what they were, he saw what was happening to his country over a decade ahead of time... "and i thought mankind was supposed to be civil"... incredible powerful soul
I remember when this track first came out. I was in a really bad place at the time. I listened to this song on repeat for hours, crying all the time. I felt hopeless and this track just reminded me that there’s no help for people who really need it.
Massive respect Devlin, you rapped about things that need to be exposed. The thing is, these issues are even worse in 2024 so we need more Devlin telling it!❤
This is what devs is about. Spitting that real, story telling, complimented by flow and bars. You should check out devlin high rise. Real early tune of his but showcases his ability
Dope reaction as usual guys. This is a tune about the struggles in the UK without reppin sets or postcodes, it's about general problems that sadly the majority of us face in the UK face on a day to day basis. This song hasn't aged at all. Still the same to this day sadly. Love from the UK 💙🇬🇧🇺🇸 keep up the graft boys. Best reactors on YT by far 💯👊
Devlin comes from the Borough of Barking and Dagenham, same borough as Potter Payper although they grew up in different neighbourhoods, Devlin from Dagenham and Potter from Barking. Culturally they feel kind of seperate from the rest of London, especially Dagenham, which is right on the edge of the city before you get out into the countryside and a different county. This area feels forgotten from the rest of London and is often where the poorest people that have been push out from other areas of London due to gentrification end up, but the govt wont do much to help the area and rents are starting to go up there as well, still feels like a forgotten part of the city when I visit and go back. This is the side of London the tourist brochure dont show you, all that wealth is definately not distributed equally in London.
You HAVE to reach to his Wiley diss. He was 15 when he made the diss track. Also both us fire in the booths are legendary. Devlin was 17 when he made this track. He’s known for looking way older than he actually is
reacting to some great tracks man keep it up, real british urban culture, my life growing up the music you react to, i love it man how u catch the bars
Devlin is a legend in the UK one of the best spitters in the UK for sure. You should found the video of him and Ed sheeran are back stage free styling back to back pure fire. Also do devlin fire in the booth part 2 there is apart 1 which fire but 2 just on another level 👌
Devlin is a legend but massively underrated throughout his career. Devs is ghetts’s boy he’s rated by the proper MC’s. I’m pretty sure he’s retired now. Do his fire in the booth next😅 🎉
He wrote this song at 16 and it’s still relevant today unfortunately. He’s done soo many good songs you guys should check out; Runaway Blue skies Watchtower Rewind Brainwashed London city and his fire in the booths are insane👌🏻
Good reaction guys, a few others that are top level from Devs: Heat Up (No video but lyrical and flow king level) Off with their Heads Ft Wretch 32 April Showers (No Video but genius schemes) F64 *Pretty much anything from Tales From the Crypt*
"sign on" we also here in the UK say "Bang on" ie " going to bang on" for people un employed they go and sign on for a small bit of change from the government to live on which is low as f@#$ to be in this position
Am new to ur channel , been with grime music since it started always loved it , somthing about seeing americans experiencing it for the 1st time its wholesome , our scene is buzzin i dont no if ur into clashes or rapp battles but if you are try out lord of the mics most legedery grime battles skepta kano wiley all them big names have been onit and tbh its a big part of the grime culture
I asked u to react to this a while ago but no reply but glad u guys did this video as Devlin who u pronounced wrong has always been my favourite English rapper , most his songs are fast and serious . Apart from a funny one I love called DEVLIN , BITCHES check it out mate its hilarious! Yes in England we have a strong class system, upper class, middle class and working class at least 90 percent of English rappers are working class the fans too but most our films especially Hollywood ones show all English people are either middle class, upper class or royal , so uk grime gives us working class a voice and love the fact we sing in our own accents not a fake American one like phil Collins, Jagger , ozzy Osbourne and so on 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Devlin ft ed Sheeran let it go Devlin ft wretch 32 off with there heads Devlin corner beef city Devlin ft ghetts hero Devlin f64 freestyle Devlin fire in the booth 1 and two Devlin Castella Devlin

In fact thats a good point wiley is the godfather of grime him and his crew roll deep was one of the 1st crews in grime u need to check him out the scene would never be were it is without him
This is deep af and still relevant to this day london is expensive af the percentage of single moms is high af and the council that houses them always put them in flats in the same areas as others who are in the same situation and keep them all round the same areas which is normally high crime rates and then wonder why the crime rate grows so much its cause the kids become mates with the kids in the same areas in the same situations and you can't blame the kids for going the gang or criminal path in life when they all watch their parents or parent struggling like they do of course they think fuck it why not an it's sad but the council housing them all do it for a reason it's to keep them secluded away from the wealthy and of course the more criminal activity the more work for police and courts
Slow as fuck with the final part of Shiros story...but I'm not mad that you've done this track of Delvins 🔥 Some other stuff by him that's worth taking a listen to are his Daily Duppy (he uses a iconic beat)...his FITB...F64 (I think its rated as one of the best F64)...Castella freestyle...I've gotta say Soundbwoy Murderer as it features the 👑 of grime Durrty Goodz You already know he's got to be 🔥 when you find out Ghetts is one of his Gs and he was in "The Movement" with him and Wretch 32...Mercston...Scorcher (Kemale in Summerhouse Top Boy)

Thanks guys ❤️ . This is quite old from Devlin, I believe I read he's retiring from music. But I think it's a great intro to him.
Indeed it is!!! 🍻
It’s actually more relevant now than it ever was, homelessness is at a record high and so is crime which is enhancing the devise between government and the people
Also note to self: don't speed read names with a glass of beer & dyslexia. Devlin, Devlin, DEV-LIN.
@@BeersBars but to be fair... You was delvin into Devlin... ❤️
He's come out of retirement to do one more album, he said it in one of his recent freestyles. It's going to be called The James Devlin album from what he said
