- Great fun arcade racer.
At the moment the resolution is set to 800x600. You can change it in the config settings - (wr.ini) but any resolution higher will make the in-game screen misaligned.
The default controls were already assigned to my PC without actually configuring anything so not sure if the layout will be the same for anyone else.

Select 720p or 1080p with Google Chrome to watch at 60fps.
Controls:
Left - Left Arrow key
Right - Right Arrow Key
Up - Up Arrow Key
Down - Down Arrow Key
Service Menu - Esc
Start - S
Accel - z (Acceleration seemed to be automatic so i didn't use the z key)
Brake - Left or Right Ctrl
Lever - o
View - R Shift

This game looks MAD fun, I always liked the wacky races cartoon. I really wish this game was released in North America!

This looks awesome, I loved the dreamcast game! Would love to see another for next gen, the wii game was a miss fire, but for the most part it's such a tight concept for a videogame with plenty of nods to the series that made it so awesome!
Looks like fun! definitely will give this a whirl, wish it was released in the states though!

The soundtrack sounds like Computor Rockers... ^_^ so, it sounds great.
I am SO GLAD the Japanese made this game as well as the one on the NES.

I wonder if a graphics comparison could be done between all versions of Wacky Races, except Crash and Dash since that was a side scroller
The announcer sounds bad but at least they kept Muttley's laugh. Wouldn't be the same without it.

Controls seem to have changed in later versions mine are set up via xpadder and are the following
Steering: Left & Right Arrows (mapped up down left right arrows to both dpad and left stick)
S key: Coin
Enter key: Start
P key: Pause
Space key: Accel (doesnt accel on its own when use space bar and can use triggers on controller too)
Left Ctrl key: Brake
N or O key: Use slot lever / power item
Right Shift: Apparently changes view but doesnt work on mine and cant find key

I'm sure you all know this already but, I'll say it anyways. This is no joke, folks. You are seeing this correctly. It's an official arcade racing game based the popular Hanna-Barbara cartoon of the same name.
"And now, here they are! The most daredevil group of daffy drivers to ever whirl their wheels in the Wacky Races. Competing for the title of World's Wackiest Racer!"
It works! (ok, there's a few loading time and control issues) but this is great, beautiful lush colours, effects, and graphics, great features, they could literally just modernise the controls and add replays and put it out on modern PC/Consoles just as it is! For fans of WR this is excellent I love the animations on the car select screen and it even gives the names of all of the Ant Hill mob!, It's easily a match or better than PS2's WR Starring Dastardly and Muttley with a full 11 car grid, and knocks the shit out of PS2's WR Mad Motors and I'm totally bewildered why they don't re-release it for consoles/PC!, Thanks so much for the game link! PS. I cant get the 'View' (R Shift) to do anything.. I assume it's change camera but nothing happens?
Worked it out, its Right Shift Key (has to be right not left) not 'R' + 'Shift' and this gives a look behind view that lets you see the front of the car, which is better than straight back because sadly there are no replays (but i don't suppose there would be in an Arcade game) also I found that holding 'X' and either Up - Raises camera, Down - Lowers camera, Left - Zooms in to bumper cam, Right - zooms out to far chase cam
I have to reset the network every time to prevent the 1 minute loading time at the car select. is there a permanent fix? 2) at the start of the race the W sits for 30 seconds before it plays 'are you ready' then further 15 seconds before it goes on to game. is there a fix for this?

Já pesquisei o google inteiro e não consegui um método de jogar com o direcional (volante) em modo analógico..
tudo que vi do Wacky Races é e mesma coisa ,, no teclado,, fora mais um detalhe o jogo não entra em modo single a não ser
que tenha de entrar no menu e configurar toda vez que executemos o game,, alguém sabe alguma solução para
esses dois detalhes??

Nah mate they're not the same. Believe the Dreamcast version came out back in 2000 and the Arcade was in 2008. They play and look similar but created from two different developers. Both are a lot of fun but I do prefer the Arcade version :)

DC just released a Wacky Racers comic.
Unfortunately they re-imagined it as an edgy "Mad Max" ripoff with shoehorned in Political Correctness.

I read it, I like it and I want more to see how it continues.

Neither have anything that made the source material so endearing. I thought we lost that shitty EXTREME grimdark edginess back in the 90s. Half of what made Wacky Races memorable were the whacked out car designs
Im willing to bet Speed Buggy is involved behind the scenes somehow, judging from the talking cars. And Im also willing to bet this "Utopia" will end up being the Jetsons
