    Just wanna say that I'm still using this laptop after 4 years thanks to your review and it truly is built like a tank and heald up really well over time. The battery & hard drive slowed down overtime as expected, but it's a good thing it was easy to get inside and replace them and it still runs like new!
    Seriously a legendary laptop that's been forgotten, thanks Dave~

      Me too . But I regret not buying a 1060 laptop .

    • @FranksAnimeClub
      @FranksAnimeClub 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@BARCH-wp5vl I regretted it at first too, but eventually realised that the extra 15-20fps isn't worth the loss of the fantastic battery life. The 1050ti is incdredibly power effecient and I really enjoyed taking my laptop into classes and seeing 13hours left while using microsoft word, or these days i'll take my laptop into the work to watch movies & play games while on break and I'll get 4-6 hours playing simple games, 2 hours for something intense like The Witcher 3. The 1060 varient had half the battery life because it used up more power and also more space that required a smaller battery.
      That's my outlook at it anyways. What's the point of having more power if you can't use it? If you're going to leave it plugged in all the time then you may as well buy a desktop imo

    • @undrgrnd734
      @undrgrnd734 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. Also still running this and this review was one of the deciding factors but also /r/laptopdeals
      The battery sucks now only like an hour of normal use before it needs the cable but otherwise it still runs fine. I have the IPS display and GTX 1050 ti version. Upgraded to 12gb ram and 1tb hdd in there. I used it for class in college since I was always moving around but now use it for work lmao it's strange using a gaming laptop for work.
      Definitely hoping to keep this for another year until DDR5 ram and next gen CPUs come out and finally retiring it for home use. It will still probably see plenty of work use though 😀

    • @FranksAnimeClub
      @FranksAnimeClub 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@undrgrnd734 If you want to breath life into again you can replace the battery super easily like I did. You only have to unplug 1 thing that connects the battery to the laptop, then the rest is just a few screws and it's a simple swap.
      I paid about 75$usd for a new battery which sure beats buying a new laptop

      This laptop has been a tank for me for year's it's honestly a trooper. I can't complain at all, I wish I could repair the screen just last week I started to get some dead pixels but after 4 years of heavy use, as a daily beater.

    This was the first ever laptop I got at 18. An all round tank that lasted me for 6 years and counting. The only shortcoming it had was the screen which Dell had replaced with IPS Panels after a few months.
    Obviously the I5 and the 1050 Ti can't keep up with today's performance needs, but it's still good enough for normal web usage and writing documents. I hooked it up to our main desktop monitor my parents to use.
    Dave's recommendations are so on point, I'm basing my next purchase on his advice, the 13 inch M2 Macbook Air!

    Picked one of these up this year for $350, with 16gb ram, 256gb nvme, and I added a 1tb hdd. Even in 2021, I’d say it’s aged really well all things considered. I needed a budget-conscious upgrade to my aging Precision workstation laptop (i7-3720qm + Quadro K4000M) And given the current market, I was content to find something with this level of performance in good condition. The lack of hyper-threading & all-core turbo of only 3.1ghz hurts this machine’s ability to handle heavy workloads, but for browsing/gaming it works well. The 1050 Ti is also the most ideal choice for the cpu; the 1060 variant pairs much better with the i7-7700hq, at least for 1080p scenarios. I’m not a huge power user outside of games, so it works great as a portable console or htpc when I hook it up to my tv.

      I have a Macbook Pro 15 Retina (2012, I think) as a work machine and going to this was staggering, to say the least. It's not bad if you're used to TN panels, I guess, as it's about the same as my old Lenovo Y570. But compared to modern IPS displays, it's really quite bad. Thankfully, it's just a 30-pin eDP screen. You can find an IPS panel that's compatible for relatively cheap (under $100).

      Mister Emperor This is not the case in UK if at all anywhere.
      Dell uk still advertise that only 4k display is IPS and all the rest are just anti glare fhd options.
      I got that one from John Lewis for 1099 £
      i7 , 16gb ram, gtx 1050ti , 1TB hard + 256 SSD.
      I absolutely love it for that money and usually if at home i plug external 4 k 24 inch viewsonic and i only use the laptop screen when i go out of town or something so really not that bad.
      Infact compared to ips is really not good but i still dont find it so awful and i usually sit just infront of my screens anyway lol.
      I love that machine and performance for the price.

    Hi Dave. Bought this Laptop last week. Went to update the RAM by adding an additional 8GB stick. Got BSOD and many errors quickly after adding. Same V, 2400MHz and DDR4. Any ideas?

    • @Dave2D
      @Dave2D  8 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      hmm.. i never like mixing ram from 2 diff companies even if it's the same speed. It can work sometimes?? i'd try to get a matched pair of sticks if you can

    • @KarrasBastomi

      try using single stick you buy, memtest check if any error on those new stick

    • @legostarwarsrulez
      @legostarwarsrulez 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use only the new stick to see if it's a bad stick. If it works fine then the latency/timing between the two sticks of ram are off by enough to cause BSOD, make sure the timing and latency line up, that's more important than the speed

      coding and media consumption are very easy for a processor to do, even with integrated graphics. so id say really anything should work. so it ultimately comes down to budget and desired features. if you just want the cheapest possible, do what gamingmaksim101 said and get an acer aspire with an i3 and a 940m.

      hp envy x360, AMD version. it will be better for gaming due to it having an AMD APU. there's also the dell inspiron 14 series, theyre all pretty cheap and have good specs for the price, and if you want gaming I think a few have low end GPUs (think 940m or lower) and AMD chips.

    I just found your channel.
    I got say, one of the best reviews I saw on notebooks when it comes to short but precise information.
    You touch on almost every important point I can even think of, and you mention additional information for each laptop when you see something that for some reason might be an issue or is interesting to point out.
    If I would citisize something, mostly to give an advice for improvement rather than anything else, it would be the lack of information on how good is the audio on headphones (since you do mention how good the speakers are).
    But I am really nit picking here.

    Mine has an IPS display. It's the 1050Ti with a 256GB NVMe SSD. Considering its versatility alongside its price point, I'm definitely fine with its compromises. Battery life for me averages above 9 hours when I'm not gaming, pushing 3 hours with Gears of War 4 on high settings.
    I bought this when best buy had a crazy sale for open box laptops. $664.99+tax for mine.

I can't even take it out side without the screen going so bad I can't see anything aka I can barely see anything when I have black text on a white screen in just moderate sunlight/shade. Basically I have to use the T420 inside otherwise I can't see jack on the screen.

It's been a very good computer to use for gaming and for work, and it can play most titles with high graphics. On the other hand, the 7567 is more powerful in terms of graphics no doubt... I recommended looking at benchmarks if you want to game that is. But if you want to know if the 7559 is still a good laptop at this time, it's probably the best for the price in my opinion.

      uncle drewtastic! Idk if you have already but don’t, this piece of shit started suffering from performance degradation not even a year in, maybe 6 months later. I went from getting 60+ FPS in overwatch on Ultra to barely keeping 60 on the lowest of the lowest settings. I have to completely close off EVERYTHING (even discord) to maintain a playable experience. I can’t even run anything modern anymore, I tried to play the Black Ops 4 beta and I couldn’t even hit 60 on the lowest settings. Basically what I’m trying to say is DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP. $1050 for a piece of shit that’ll break down in under a year is just not a smart move

    I bought this laptop since I saw this review 4 years ago. My laptop was working great until last year March 2020 after I started playing couple of games the battery got damaged and I can't use the laptop without the charging cable since then. Now I'm replacing the battery because I can't play games on this anymore because of the battery issue. I should've bought a PC instead of buying a gaming laptop. I regret it.

    • @marcusireland5696

      same here my battery swelled up really bad and almost exploded a couple of weeks after the warranty ran out. I totally regret buying this thing with the knowledge that i could of built myself a PC that would of kicked the ass out of the 7567 at half the price. This is the problem with manufacture's with high marketing budgets scamming people who don't know how to build a computer.

    I bought this model with the i5 and 1050TI. Mine came with the M.2 SSD also. Its a fantastic little machine for the price. I use it at work just because gaming rigs offer good performance to price ratio compared to business line laptops. The battery life on mine is incredible!!! I sat through a 6.5 hour strategic meeting with this on for most of the meeting and using it once in awhile to take notes or pull documents and at the end of the meeting, I was still over 30% battery life.
