She should've went with Barbara. I'm under the impression that Lori does well selling single small items on QVC, and doesn't do many food deals. Barbara is almost always out but when she's in I feel like the business succeeds
Barbara is 100% the best choice for food businesses plus the idea of just replicating the same business model quickly and having a booming truck business in no time should have been more appealing and less risky. Packaging for retail could have come after that if she wanted
I think people are crazy who overlook Barbara yeah she's memed for going out constantly but I feel like she'd be a safe choice since she hardly goes in
Well most of them have something in common especially Lori here they are all investors, So the best approach I feel is to diversify investments- by spreading investments across different asset classes like bonds, real estate, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown. That is how I made it out.
I'm on board with having an advisor manage my day-to-day investing because my job doesn't allow me the time to analyze stocks myself. Thankfully, my portfolio has grown 5X in just five years, totaling nearly $1 million after additional investments to date.
A lot of folks downplay the role of advisors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. So the pandemic killed it, but also they still operate in very limited capacity online now. Pity, I suppose even Barbara's offer wouldn't have survived COVID.
She should have countered with asking BOTH Barbara and Lori for 1M total for 50%. Diversify. But I agree....Barbara had the better offer...she was distracted by the 33% vs 50%
Older people are usually expected to pay off through more experience. So ageism would have had the opposite effect. She said she had already thought about retail, so I think it was just a more familiar and understandable business to her.

She was just looking at the 30% vs 50%. Bad choice. IMO, it's currently just 1 store. The whole business isn't even worth $500k. Barbara's offer values just the concept alone at $1m.
Let’s be honest - the majority of these women entrepreneurs want Lori because she’s younger with more energy and a lot of the time they don’t give Barbara the credit for being a pioneer for women entrepreneurs - however, Barbara was correct about this product….
Just looked it up and the deal never went through with Lori and oatmeals went out of business because of COVID. She still sells their signature oats on their website. Should have went with barb!
For the first time I agree with Barbara… freezing it would be terrible and having it packaged and sitting in a container will just make it lose its texture and taste… plus Starbucks already has oat products unless they undercut their cost by ALOT I don’t think they are letting them in…
"The deal with Lori never closed. She wanted to franchise the business and build out more stores, but she never got the chance. Unfortunately, this business fell victim to the Covid-19 pandemic. I would have asked Lori and barbara to join hands for a total of 650,000 dollars for a total of 30 percent. That way she can work on both the cart business and distribution
After seeing this video a couple times, it’s sad because Lori’s offer was contingent and Barbara‘s offer was for sure and that Barbara was going to be behind her back through rough times. The owner really picked lousy offer from Lori and this was the reason why Lori backed out becauseoatmeal was already in Starbucks and I’m pretty sure something behind closed doors.
