      John and Paul, working on their own material weren't interested in George's songs. George left the studio but came back with Eric Clapton and that set everybody else straight.

    BUT, a few wrong infos on who played what, as said previously.
    Drive My Car : McCartney
    And Your Bird Can Sing : George Harrison and Paul McCartney
    Let It Be : George Harrison
    The End : alright, each guy playing 3 solos
    John only played on a few songs... You Can't Do That, I Want You (She's So Heavy), The End, and Long Tall Sally (live for sure, but maybe the 1st solo on the record, hard to say).

    My dad was a professional jazz trumpet player in the '50's and '60's, and he hated rock 'n' roll--until he brought the Abbey Road album home and asked us all to gather in the living room and listen to it. I was only 11 years old at the time, but it's still one of my clearest memories. When "Something" came on, my dad raved about George's solo as one of the sexiest solos he'd ever heard. He also loved "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" because of its bluesy sound. From that point on, he changed his mind about rock music and started buying more Beatles albums, among albums from other groups. That experience also got me hooked, and I'm still blown away by the Beatles.

      @ Secret Treasure....I read a comment on youtube a few months ago from a lady that had a story similar to yours. It was about Ringo. In her comment or post, she said her dad was a professional jazz musician in the 50's and 60's. He hated rock music and couldn't understand what all the fuss was about with the Beatles etc. When they appeared on the Ed Sullivan show he wanted to see what this new band was all about. After a few songs he turned to his daughter and said of Ringo...."that drummer is the bread and butter of that band". Even professional musicians of a different genre can detect talent.

Because, for someone such as myself that just likes to play but, I'm not very good, this guy is extremely talented! Give him the credit he deserves. Why do people keep saying that George was the most underrated guitarist?. I think some mean to say that he is the most "understated". I feel George was the most economical player with some of the most tasteful guitar solos ever recorded. They are little songs within the songs. I think the best way to describe his style is that he played in "complete sentences". Other examples of this style would be Don Felder and Joe Walsh on Eagles' records. George just did it on many occasions with so few notes. Steve Cropper could do it with as little as three notes. On the other hand Django, Chuck Berry, and Clapton played in complete encyclopedias!

    For those of you who are discussing who played the "Let It Be" solos: it was always George. Three versions of the song have been released officially. The first one to be recorded, in January 1969, is the one in the album "Let It Be... Naked", the one you can see in the "Let It Be" film, and it was played with the Telecaster through a Leslie speaker. George overdubbed a new solo in April 1969, and he also used the Telecaster and the Leslie; this is the version that was used in the single. The last of the three solos was another overdub recorded in January 1970; this time he used the red Les Paul, and this was the solo that was used in the album (though you can hear very quiet parts of this solo in the single, too). And that's all there is to it. No John, no Paul, no Ringo in the guitar solo. Just George.

    Decent stuff!! I do like that its played in a modern style. This is surely what the solos would sound like if George could have played them now. He was an underrated guitarist, and this is some fine playing from Mateus :-)

    • @ianbartle456
      @ianbartle456 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      YEAH, I like that too. We can see and hear that Mateus is a post-80s player in a heartbeat, but it matters not. There are many quite subtle nuances in this Beatles lead work that he totally nails PERFECTLY and a few others that are slightly altered. I can can hear the originals anytime. I like the little subtleties that mark out that bit of player interpretation for originality. It takes a bt of chutzpah to do that to the work of legends - full marks to Mateus as he's clearly got both the taste and the skills to pull it off!
      I think the beauty of his approach here is it will inspire 60s players to get a bit smoother at playing their old faves and it will also inspire those of a younger more metalhead persuasion to see the great skill and craftsmanship to be found within in this music - if they haven't already got there earlier. It has to be a win-win if we can carry the appreciation of the Beatles' musical genius forward to a new generation.

    I noticed tho you gave some wrong information about some of the original soloists, so I'll try to make things straight:
    - The original solo on Drive My Car was played by Paul McCartney, not George Harrison
    - The original twin guitar part on And Your Bird Can Sing was played simultaneously by George Harrison and Paul McCartney, it wasn't Harrison alone -No double-tracking-
    - Both solos on Let It Be (The one featured in the single mix and the one released on the Let It Be album which you play here) were played by George Harrison, John Lennon only sang backing vocals on the released versions of the song
